Technically I don’t think so. we’re not at war with the US. It’s not a risk to the King. might be an argument that he’s undermining the King’s government or Parliamentary sovereignty?

Regardless I’d imagine it’s against Parliamentary standards.

Truss, Carswell etc have obviously been treading the same path but they aren’t MPs.

i must have missed something.

Exactly WHY is Farage testifying in front of a Senate committee?

was he invited? ‘Subpoenaed’?

What takes precedence over his actual job?

And who the fuck made him spokesperson?

No idea why he is there. I thought he was doing speeches at some conference as a free speech champion and bringing LC with him.

He was wearing a GBn badge as well

He should be at least hauled up in front of the parliamentary standards committee surely?

Thank you. It’s water off a duck’s back to be honest. I’ve had years of practice dealing with it.

It's been a busy day today, I'm still catching up. I feel for Rayner, it's been a witch hunt and in my experience lawyers aren't always as clued in as you would expect them to be. I will wait for the outcome of the standards committee and hmrc investigations after she reported herself before sitting in judgement.

I love Ed Daveys response.

Farage is being twat as usual. Hes a self serving cockroach- maybe America can keep him.

dontcallmelen · 03/09/2025 20:44

Feel the same Littledrummer I’ve been catching up the last hour or so the knives have been out for Angela Rayner from day one Yy Ed Davey a good reasoned response.
going off on a colour tangent I love the bright colours AR wears really suit her vibrant hair colour, I don’t suit the brighter greens look much better in mint green/pink/lemon or navy, black makes me look as though I been dug up I’m blonde mixed in with a little grey blue eyes & quite pale I’ve gone right off turquoise.

PandoraSocks · 03/09/2025 20:45

@LlttledrummergirI people are out for her blood now. I hope the standards committee works fast. We need to know the true picture ASAP.

Lemon and pale pink make me look like a corpse! They give me a jaundiced tinge. Which is fitting right now, as that's how I feel about everything.☹️

itsgettingweird · 03/09/2025 20:48

I wear a lot of pink, teal and purple. Teamed with black and dark grey.

today I put on a charcoal smock dress and my pink fat face denim jacket - which promptly got changed for my teal knee length rain coat when the weather roared in - thank goodness just before I needed to leave as my umbrella wouldn’t have cut much mustard in today wind either!

Evenstar · 03/09/2025 20:49

I love green as well, I am going to a black tie do on Saturday and have a green dress with a peacock feather print.

Evenstar · 03/09/2025 20:51

@itsgettingweird pink is good for me too, blue suits me but a vivid turquoise is my favourite.

The problem is, it's not a fair fight.

Boris Johnson still has to pay for his lying to parliament, if we're looking for people being held to account. Notice how we have already forgotten his lying to the Monarch and illegally proroguing parliament.

You mean him doing what Charles I did, which was deemed to be treason. Charges Boris Johnson should be facing along with Jacob Rees-Mogg under the legal concept of joint enterprise.

Ooh sounds a fabulous outfit have a great time.
oh Pandora 💐

PickAChew · 03/09/2025 22:20

In addition to the teal, I wear plenty of black, blue, purple and deep pink and the odd shot of red. This is one of my favourite makes of this year. I just wish I had the chance to go to an event I could make something fancy for. It would almost definitely have something like peacocks on it!

@PickAChew will get a picture from behind and post it after the event, it’s only the second black tie I have been to in my whole life! It’s very seldom we need to really dress up these days.

I hope you have a lovely time. Would love to see the dress.

LlttledrummergirI · 03/09/2025 23:12

I remember reading the poem "when I am old, I'm going to wear purple", and thinking I'm going to that. Then I thought, nah, why wait until I'm old, just until the dc are grown enough to not need the good example anymore. So now I wear whatever I like.
It's amazing how many bright colours you can get.

dontcallmelen · 03/09/2025 23:17

That’s really lovely @PickAChew you are very talented my mum was an excellent seamstress unfortunately no matter how hard she tried to teach me I jus couldn’t get the hang of it, she did teach me how to paint & wallpaper which I am quite handy at.
must confess I also love a bit of sparkle rather fond of a sequin jacket.

PickAChew · 03/09/2025 23:26

My mum taught me a fair bit @dontcallmelen but she didn't succeed with teaching me to knit. I had to work that out for myself.

itsgettingweird · 04/09/2025 06:51

I’m also loving the sound of the green dress with pack feather pattern and can’t wait to see a picture.

That pink blouse is lovely and amazing you made it yourself. My auntie makes dance costumes and my Nan was a sewer and use to make all ours .She worked at the hospital back in the day when they fixed bedding etc.
We use to get a homemade dress ever Christmas. I’m sad some of those skills are disappearing and often look at sewing machines and think it’s something I’d like to get into one day.

I also loved the blanket last week and would love to make one.

Sadly I’m not that crafty.

More news about AR overnight and that she used some of the money from her DC to buy the house. Not sure of details but I feel for her because it feels like a witch hunt.

Use of the money often has to be agreed by trustees IME so who knows what’s going on. I’m not sure she can survive this though Sad

bombastix · 04/09/2025 08:25

Having read the papers this morning I have revised my opinion. The ethics report is supposed to conclude today.

The speed suggests that there is a real, sustained problem with what Rayner did and clearly she needs to pay this tax and the penalties. I still think Starmer will not sack her. But she cannot remain housing minister, and she is going to have to resign that at least.
