For the rest of their days, Labour politicians (and maybe other parties’) will pay twice as much stamp duty as they hope they need to if multiple homes are involved then check later to hope for a refund. Better optics but expensive.

I don’t think Rayner should go. She’s not stupid enough to have done this deliberately. And even Kemi hasn’t really gone for her hard. I think everyone knows Rayner is more intelligent than that.

Kemi is fatally compromised, what with being a self confessed criminal, and a liar.

The fans of the Sainted Kemi have been a bit quiet lately.

Is that a really piss poor remake of The Guns of Navarone ?

E2A: I suspect a little work with Google would show they finally gave up when Kemi claimed to have just discovered racism in the UK and was ranting on about how there should be someone appointed to deal with it and to ensure society is more equal.

Well I am quite interested in why Graham Linehan was arrested at Heathrow! Who decided that was required? It is mystifying. I would like to know why it happened.

Why wasn't the complainant just given a crime number and told to fuck off ?

I appreciate sometimes laws are bad. But the police 100% have agency of what they do - and do not - put their resources to.

Farage being held to account and then he lies

Democrat @ raskin.house.gov excoriates Nigel Farage for banning journalists from Reform UK events:

"I'm asking you a direct question. Why do you ban journalists who oppose your views from coming to your events? Why did you tell local government not to do interviews with your local newspaper?"

Better to post the BBC link to force it up their algorithms and force them to remove it manually.

I was listening to R4 at about 4pm on the way home from work today. There was a really interesting discussion about this (possibly Nottingham?) and how Tice has called the journalists activists when they’ve challenged them. Also about how they send pre recorded videos to media. Unfortunately because I was driving and had to stop to do a few errands I missed some of the information but what I did hear was quite surprising but not at the same time iyswim?

I watch a Reform minister this morning and Reid was really good at trying to hold him to account and eventually he just said “let’s move on”.

We need more of this showing them for who they are as we will be in more trouble than we are now if they win!

Haven't caught up with all the Rayner stuff but I’m in the camp that if she sought appropriate advice and was incorrectly advised it’s not her fault however if she didn’t unfortunately she needs to go. And I really do mean unfortunately because I really like the woman even though she’s far more left than my views and want her to become Leader of Labour and would vote for her.

I liked the quote given above of Ed Davey at PMQs.

I agree with this re AR. Of course the 'we hate Labour' brigade have already tried, sentenced and guillotined her before an investigation has even started, because she's left-wing, successful and female.

placemats · 03/09/2025 18:23

I'm not sure Rayner is left wing but she's a fantastic MP and I do admire her.

Apparently the go to insult now on MN is 'very channel 5'.

DuncinToffee · 03/09/2025 18:30

Farage ran away

https://bsky.app/profile/atrupar.com/post/3lxx4zo2p6j22
Farage flees the hearing right ahead of Goldman's questioning

And to add
Jamie Raskin just asked for Farage to be called back in to continue testifying after he left the hearing early.
He apparently was doing a piece to camera for GB news outside instead.

The only news source seems to be the Torygraph

Notonthestairs · 03/09/2025 18:57

i must have missed something.

Exactly WHY is Farage testifying in front of a Senate committee?

was he invited? ‘Subpoenaed’?

What takes precedence over his actual job?

And who the fuck made him spokesperson?

Notonthestairs · 03/09/2025 18:58

I feel like we are just so used to Cons & Reform MPs going to the US to trash talk the UK we just take it for granted that’s part of their job.

It bloody isn’t.
wankers.

InterestQ · 03/09/2025 19:00

I didn’t know Kemi had any fans! Blimey. Her last position in government suited her but she is a terrible Leader of the Opposition and I rarely see her being even slightly likeable in interviews.

I thought she was just a placeholder for 4 years being incredibly bad at PMQs while Jenrick and Cleverly work out their strategy of who is to be the leader going into the election. I reckon Cleverly.

Either way. If AR does fall on her sword and I hope she doesn’t, she’ll be back. Politically, she’s too far left for me personally, but she’s good at her job and provides a good balance to SKS in my view. It’s a good thing to have them both at the top and to think differently.

dontcallmelen · 03/09/2025 19:03

Shame the British media don’t take heed of Mr Raskin, shows how easy it is to rattle & expose Farage for what he is.

What Nigel Farage said is quite close to what is known as economic coercion and it is unlawful. I don’t know what Farage is for any more. He’s talking about getting another country to possibly ruin our economy

he’s encouraging another country’s government to act against the interests of the UK in order to wrangle himself into power.

and there doesn’t appear to be much outrage (any?) expressed by his fellow patriots (Dubai based or otherwise).

this is a man who wants to be in charge of our armed forces and our medical system for Gods sakes.

I may be behind the times but didn’t that sort of thing used to be called treason?
