Pull up a chair for some friendly chit chat about politics and beyond

Taxes optional but greatly appreciated.

Seeing as the BBC love Farage so much and love to give him excessive airtime, I'm going to suggest to them that they do an episode of Who Do You Think You Are on him. I wonder how far back in his family tree they would need to go until they discovered 'immigrants'?

Could make interesting viewing.

Huegenot refugees from Germany iirc

Not to mention his ex wife and current partner both being from the EU

You wouldn't need his consent. Anyone could do it.

Yes, that would be very entertaining!

Is that the Isle of Wight in the distance @itsgettingweird ?

No it’s another bit of the coast further along.

You can see the IOW from my local beach though!

itsgettingweird · 27/08/2025 15:57

SerendipityJane · 27/08/2025 15:30

My tax of the view of the beach.

Any guesses where we were?!

Is it somewhere along the south coast that is further along from the Isle of Wight? Like Bournemouth?

One awful thing about Autumn is the return of Question Time.

Karistyleaftea · 27/08/2025 16:52

@placemats Agree. Why I keep watching it I don't know.
Is Fiona Bruce leaving it anytime soon?
I don't mind her at all on other shows.

Let’s face it, there’s a limit to how biased you can be with antiques.

You mean the Nigel Farage show.

Are there constraints on how many times he can appear now he's an MP ?

countrygirl99 · 27/08/2025 17:17

DH has started commenting on Facebook posts about the flags. He says how great it is to see so much support for the England Women's Rugby team at the World Cup.

SerendipityJane · 27/08/2025 17:18

I wonder if the current flag fad is going to have an impact on house viewings (some may know the thread that prompted the question).

The Daily Mail may have to cease to exist. Or lie to it's readers. Whatever it does when facts and fantasy clash.

Loads of shows in Belfast (and of course the terrible weather) this year.

PickAChew · 27/08/2025 17:23

Ooh, thunder.

My neighbour is horrible how can I rid? Sort of thing?

I've lived in my current home - sold old one and bought, since 2017, but I don't recall hanging out flags being part of the seller's pack or questions from the buyers.

DuncinToffee · 27/08/2025 17:28

With Reform UK saying it would be reasonable to pay the Taliban to return migrants to Afghanistan, how many Britons this would be acceptable?

Acceptable: 17%
Unacceptable: 61%

% acceptable by party
Reform: 35%
Con: 23%
Lab/Lib Dem: 7-13%

Also:

There is a measure missing:

"Same as Brexit"

E2A: Inspired (by myself, as it happens) I hope we see a few candidates at the next election called "Brexit Nigel" or "Farages Folly" (you get the idea) to keep the search engines on their toes.

PickAChew · 27/08/2025 17:37

Same as Rwanda.

BIossomtoes · 27/08/2025 17:38

And the 2% drop in voting intention for Reform was before Farage’s presser. I’m looking forward to the next poll now.
