Pull up a chair for some friendly chit chat about politics and beyond

Taxes optional but greatly appreciated.

I don't want to engage. I regard your behaviour as nasty bullying and find it upsetting and note you have ramped it up.

Does that help you to feel superior ? The fact that you know you are bullying people and never stop being amused says a great deal more about you than 'us'.

ETA : Please stop.

.

Its exactly how Starmer behaves at PMQ's.

MyNameIsX · 31/08/2025 08:04

There is no bullying from me - my focus is on this government, and that will continue.

Your choice not to engage - but please dont do what some other posters do, and choose ‘a la carte’ disengagement.

Thanks

Piggywaspushed · 31/08/2025 08:05

I will do what I like.

But your definition of bullying is inaccurate.

It's the last day of August Shock

Major NITS here

PandoraSocks · 31/08/2025 08:14

Our advice would be to not engage but realise it's sometimes difficult when user posts a lot.

Advice from MNHQ.

Re yesterday's discussions about grey vs red squirrels, this is quite interesting.

This is a fascinating article

Sadly never seen a red squirrel despite having lived in parts of UK where they are still found

Mine too - because I know the school year starts and I’ll not be as normal as I am this 1 day a year again for another whole year 🤣

Agree. They keep coming back because someone eventually bites.

And they bring a friend when them alone isn’t enough.

We know we can discuss what we do and don’t like about current government respectfully.

As I always say to ds “I’ll only respond if you speak to me nicely”

Alexandra2001 · 31/08/2025 08:30

Focusing in on a Gov is fine, we live in a democracy but making things up, spreading rumours, at one particular minister & then having a go at posters over their pets?!?!

Some might see that as bullying.

As far as i can tell, many would rather see the country go down the pan, than see Labour succeed, eg the delight and glee when Gilt yields rose slightly, so much happiness when ONE think tank said fiscal black hole is supposed to be 41bn, forgetting its over 5 to 6 years even if correct AND if nothing changes.

... these people also back a party that wants to send our taxes to the Taliban, i hope they remember the 457 uk soldiers the Taliban killed, when they wave the flag so "patriotically!!!"

DuncinToffee · 31/08/2025 08:30

As they say in Star Wars, always two there are.

Pot and Kettle come to mind there. I stopped posting on this thread a while ago because you did exactly the same to me when you didn't like something I posted. You would either start talking about squirrels, start talking about anything other than politics or post gifs. It's childish.

This thread is like being back in the playground at school and considering that some of you on here are over 50 it surprises me that you can act like that. I have said this before on here but I wonder how many of you were bullies at school.

If you don't want other people to join your thread, although not sure that you can stop that, then make it clear that this is a thread for people who support Labour only.

Very true and well explained.

And as for taxes to Taliban. If they think “their taxes” going towards hoisting asylum seekers in hotels I’d a threat to National Security - what the hell do they think funding the Taliban is? 🤦‍♀️

Plus I’d like to know when any of these rioters who spend the working week protesting actually go to work in order to pay said taxes?!

It's slug central in our garden this morning

Fun fact
In Dutch we call slugs, naked snails 🐌

The ridiculous thing is that a certain supercilious poster (boy, does the tone they remind me of my brother who incorrectly thinks he's superior to everyone) is actually reducing criticism of the government on this thread. It's often not the content that's the problem it's the tone

PandoraSocks · 31/08/2025 09:05

The thread is in chat. So that is what we do. Chat.

This is one small corner of a massive site.

For some reason, people have taken exception to this series of threads ever since they originally started back around the time of Partygate. Over the years there have been regular visitors to goad, derail or tell us off. They come here to criticise us and also then slag us off on other threads.

I don't think we owe such posters a response.

Not currently a Labour supporter, btw.

BIossomtoes · 31/08/2025 09:06

MN’s advice is very sensible. I have to say my heart sinks every time I see someone respond. I don’t even read the posts now. When you consider the literally thousands of threads on MN choosing to post on this one simply to goad - and there are a couple of admissions now - is inexplicable. We know ignoring works.

DuncinToffee · 31/08/2025 09:06

@2dogsandabudgie

As you very well know, this is not a thread for Labour supporters only. It's just plain lazy to say that.

Facts matter.

There is a dedicated I hate labour thread for those so inclined.
