Pull up a chair for some friendly chit chat about politics and beyond

Taxes optional but greatly appreciated.

Birthday felicitations @BIWI - you're in your prime! 🥳

Notonthestairs · 30/08/2025 10:34

Happy birthday BIWI! 🎉🥳

Karistyleaftea · 30/08/2025 10:38

Happy birthday @BIWI .
We had a grey squirrel in the garden at our previous house.
Quite entertaining until it got into the roof space above the extension!
There are a lot of reds in Kielder forest in Northumberland.

DuncinToffee · 30/08/2025 10:32

Was it?

Oh well, it was a nice idea, bit like the # ishedeadyet

I'm only saying given it wasn't reported anywhere else.

I guess critical thinking can spoil your day. I'm starting to see why it's so unpopular.

itsgettingweird · 30/08/2025 10:45

Happy birthday BIWI Cake

itsgettingweird · 30/08/2025 10:47

I raise you squirrels and give you cockroaches.

Many years of living in the Canaries and they are indeed entertaining pests who can survive even the most inhumane nuclear attempt at removing them 😂

placemats · 30/08/2025 10:47

Have a lovely birthday 💐 🎂 @BIWI

Saw red squirrels when we went to Formby.

DuncinToffee · 30/08/2025 10:58

I trap and humanely despatch grey squirrels, frequently.

Thank you, pleased it is humane, wish there could be more of the invasive creatures killed. Grey rats, though maybe unkind to rats to use that phrase.

BIossomtoes · 30/08/2025 11:10

That’s contemptible.

Evenstar · 30/08/2025 11:10

@MaybeNotBob greed, selfishness, unkindness and exploiting the vulnerability of someone less privileged than you all in one picture 😔

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 30/08/2025 11:13

Just about to go into Sherborne Antiques' Market.
Won't bother. Too bloody thick to realise this might put people off (and that they need an apostrophe in their shop name.)

Well, here's a wonderful picture of everything that's wrong with society. And it's not the fault of asylum seekers funnily enough...

I immediately remembered Robin Hood from "Time Bandits".

meanwhile ti hopefully offset the let down over Nottingham, someone has hacked the BBC and leaked their guidance to newscasters.

Am I alone in thinking it could be ambiguous ?

Generally I can live with a misplaced apostrophe - there are far worse sins.

cardibach · 30/08/2025 11:42

Happy birthday @BIWI !

I wouldn't have objected to the apostrophe alone. It's the window display I have the issue with.

Yes I saw that.

However if shoving a union jack in my window increased my take by 10% then why would I not do it ?

PickAChew · 30/08/2025 12:11

Happy birthday, @BIWI 🎉

This one seemed fascinated by my ironing. I'm usually watched by woodpigeons, particularly when I wear a certain bright pink t-shirt.

It’s my birthday today. I am officially an OAP!

We have a grey squirrel that lives somewhere in our garden or in our neighbours’ gardens. It infuriates DH because it keeps digging holes in our lawn.

Happy Birthday!

Goldenbear · 30/08/2025 12:33

bombastix · 30/08/2025 10:04

I have two grey squirrels in my garden who are a pair. They are entertaining to watch as they chase each other around. The grey male squirrel is just starting to do all the “check me and check my tail” courting rituals.

I live in a very tall house surrounded by trees, which means you get a television style view of it all. So even if these tiny grey bastards eat my crocus bulbs, I do not have the heart to do anything. Occasionally the cat will dispatch one.

Yes, I have a direct view of a beautiful very, very old chestnut tree and I often see the squirrels chasing each other and eating their nuts.

BIWI · 30/08/2025 12:35

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I’ve done very well! One bottle of pink Champagne, 3 bottles of gin, two lots of chocolate, a new iPad cover and a lovely scented candle. And a lovely bouquet from one of my SILs.

Dinner out tonight with DH at a French bistro in Chelsea.

So not so bad becoming a pensioner Grin

itsgettingweird · 30/08/2025 13:14

Oohhh French bisto sounds lovely 🥰
