We've had a glorious summer...but is anyone else looking forward to Autumn?

Just that really. I'm grateful for the lovely summer we've had but I am really looking forward to opaque tights and boots, soups and casseroles, cooler days, candles, fairy lights and Autumn leaves.

Me too! Before I retired I worked in a school so September was always a time for a fresh start. My garden is parched and needs the rain and like op I’m looking forward to nights drawing in and getting cosy. Plus this year we’re hoping to take our dgd to a panto as she’s now of an age where she’ll enjoy it.

PullTheBricksDown · 25/08/2025 14:40

Yes! I like summer in many ways but I like the rhythm that comes with changing the seasons and I will be ready in a few weeks for autumn. Home Bargains already have pumpkin themed things in if you want a browse of those to look ahead!

MonkeyTennis34 · 25/08/2025 14:45

Hell yes, autumn is my favourite season.
Darker evenings, cosy times, warm slippers, preparing for Christmas, Strictly Come Dancing, a new school year, time to reflect and start again.
Can’t wait 🍂

tsmainsqueeze · 25/08/2025 14:49

I am , it's my favourite season .
My ideal is a warm early Autumn day ,mellow golden light going into a crisper evening with a huge full moon and plenty of stars.
I don't buy 'Autumn tat' but i do love cushions and throws ,plenty of fairy lights and candles.
I could live in permanent Autumn.

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 25/08/2025 14:50

I'm not. I have SAD..

Justanotherdramalama · 25/08/2025 14:51

Love Autumn can't wait for the "Cosy Vibes" bring on the candles and slow cooker... crunchy walks through the leaves 🍃

MamaElephantMama · 25/08/2025 14:52

I like that September brings that fresh start feeling of a new term but I’m not looking forward to the dark nights or poor weather.

Pricelessadvice · 25/08/2025 14:52

September is my favourite month and Autumn is my favourite season. I can’t wait!

RaddledOldSandal · 25/08/2025 14:57

Absolutely!! By mid/end of July I’m always desperate for Autumn. August is my least favourite month of the year. Too hot, everywhere dried up, too busy and too light. I think I might have reverse SAD as I end up feeling a bit anxious and get insomnia. Roll on the cosy months I say. 🍁

Beansandcheesearegood · 25/08/2025 15:03

Love Autumn!

MiddleAgedDread · 25/08/2025 15:03

Oh no, the leaves are already turning so much and it’s dark enough to need lights on in an evening!
not a fan

fetachocolate · 25/08/2025 15:05

Yes - I feel I can enjoy it now that we've had some sun! Also fed up of being covered in sticky suncream. Not looking forward to winter though

cobrakaieaglefang · 25/08/2025 15:05

I've loved the summer, I dreadful the short light days. Only sadness I have is being at work inside 5-6 days a week!

I'm not. I have SAD..

So do I, I did much, much better last year by buying a Vitamin D supplement that is a liquid you spray under your tongue. Not sure if it was a placebo effect but it really helped and I’ll be taking it again this year once the summer fades x

Betsy95 · 25/08/2025 15:15

Yes me! September / October are my favourite months when things start to change and it gets close to the end of the year.

However I went shopping for some autumn boots today and couldn’t find any I like… so that wasn’t good 😂

Delatron · 25/08/2025 15:16

I mind less this year because we’ve actually had a decent summer. It’s when people start talking about cosy blankets when it’s been raining all summer that annoys me!!

I don’t like the nights getting darker earlier though. And I hate dark mornings. I’ve been enjoying my coffee sat in the garden in the sun.

So if we have a nice autumn- yay.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 25/08/2025 15:19

Me! Autumn is my favourite season. I love the cooler weather but not yet freezing, everywhere seems quieter after the madness of August in Edinburgh, the turning of the leaves, cosier nights. I’m not quite pumpkin spiced lattes and seasonal B&M tat autumnal but suits my introverted self.

PinkTonic · 25/08/2025 15:26

I love the long light days of summer the best. I like September days and the beautiful golden light but I don’t like the nights drawing in and I hate the dark days of winter. The thing that’s cheering me up this year is that my daughter is expecting her first baby in the new year. A precious baby arriving with the first snowdrops 😍

I'm glad it works for you. I've taken a vit d supplement daily since 2017 when I tested as low. Hopefully it helps my immunity but no luck with the SAD!

RightOnTheEdge · 25/08/2025 15:34

I am really looking forward to autumn.

I like dark evenings and cooler weather. I'm sick of being hot and sweaty.

The new Strike book is coming out, and Bake off and Only murders in the building are coming back, Slow Horses and Stranger Things!

I hate all the autumn smells though, everything smelling of pumpkin spice and cinnamon.

Hedjwitch · 25/08/2025 15:35

Nope. Because autumn brings winter. Commuting to and from work in the dark, foul weather, mud, and constricting layers. It's horrible and no amounts of hot choc and snuggling helps.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 25/08/2025 15:39

No, I wish the summer would last a bit longer - it’s the first decent one we’ve had in ages. I want to be like Bodhi in Point Break and chase the endless summer ( but without the bank robbing bit!)

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 25/08/2025 15:39

Me! But then again I've been looking forward to it since about June

Totally! I popped into Peacocks on my lunch break today and saw lots of lovely autumnal colours - deep purples etc. I look forward to getting my boots and cosy cardigans again!
