Tell me your first celebrity crush

Mine was Richard Hammond. I walked in the living room at my nans when I was about 5 and he was on the screen with a seashell necklace on. I audibly said “wow” and my brother to this day makes fun of me for it relentlessly. My husband genuinely despises Richard Hammond which is pretty funny, he sees him as competition.

Also I used to really really like the Scottish engines from Thomas the Tank Donald and Douglas I think.

Showing my age here but Scott Tracy who flew Thunderbird 1. It didn't seem to matter that he was a puppet.

That’s my mum’s first crush too. Love knows no bounds and it doesn’t matter that he’s a puppet I guess.

Wasn’t he in The Man From UNCLE as that Ilya character?

Yes as mentioned in the first line!

caramac04 · 22/08/2025 16:47

Marc Bolan. I read The Hobbit because it was a favourite of his and then went on to Lord of the Rings.
As a young girl he wasn’t too masculine and full of testosterone so seemed safe to me.

MrsMoastyToasty · 22/08/2025 16:53

Davy Jones from the Monkees.

ManyShapesOfPasta · 22/08/2025 16:55

Morten Harket, I was about 8.

paulb2017 · 22/08/2025 17:11

Donny Osmond

oooh Scott was lovely. Virgil had a bit more of a glint about him though Grin

I usually win these threads: Kenneth Williams.

I was 5, with no idea that the 40-year age gap was the least of my worries😭

(Skinny pointy-faced neurovores with a facility for language is still my type)

Mine are exactly the same. Not ashamed of Adam Ant though.

Absolutely not! He was gorgeous! Especially in his Dandy Highwayman incarnation 😋

JackJarvisEsq · 22/08/2025 18:38

To my shame Philip Schofield

Donny Osmond

Still in his prime

EscapeTheCastle · 22/08/2025 18:39

I had innocent crushes on David Soul in Starsky and Hutch and then Adam Ant.

My first distracting crush which was probably a classic "I fancy" situation was Murdock in The A Team.
Looking back this is clearly a rational choice. He's tall, he punches bad guys effectively and can fly a helicopter. The fact that he had PTSD from the Vietnam War and lived in a hospital were minor issues.

Vitriolinsanity · 22/08/2025 18:41

Woody from the Bay City Rollers and then Hutch from Starsky and Hutch.

As an adult I have a hankering for Gru and Clarkson.

Morten Harket, I was about 8.

I was coming on to say this word for word. We had good taste, I think. Absolute god of a human being! 😍

Tarkan · 22/08/2025 18:47

Ally McCoist and Rick Astley were my two earliest. A few years later it was Tony Robinson. I don’t think I really have a typical type. 🤣

UnctuousUnicorns · 22/08/2025 18:51

John Travolta in "Grease", saw it at the pictures when I was eight.

PinkArt · 22/08/2025 19:08

I see I have competition for Jason Donovan, my first human crush. Before him Dogtanian and the fox Robin Hood.
Why the Tories thought section 28 was necessary to stop us all catching gay, when we were all into sexy puppets and cartoons!

onwardandupwards · 22/08/2025 19:09

The guy who played Sully in Dr Quinn, medicine woman!

ApolloandDaphne · 22/08/2025 19:57

Donny Osmond. I luffed him!

Jazzicatz · 22/08/2025 20:06

Adam Ant for me and also the lead singer of Showaddywaddy 😂

RedRiverShore5 · 22/08/2025 20:09

Mr Spock in the 60s StarTrek series.

RedRiverShore5 · 22/08/2025 20:11

Oh, Batman as well in the 60s series, not sure if Spock or Batman came first.

Darkling1 · 22/08/2025 20:16

The actor who played Miss Honey in Matilda…

Gwenhwyfar · 22/08/2025 20:18

Never had one! What does that say about me?

ginoclocksomewhere · 22/08/2025 21:21

Michael Schumacher 💔 I was OBSESSED. (I am half German and I think that combined with him winning all the time had something to do with it 😂)

When he walked into the hanger on Top Gear dressed as The Stig, I yelled ‘THAT’S MICHAEL SCHUMACHER!’ And none of my Ex-BFs family believed me until he took the helmet off 😂

I couldn’t decide between John Lennon and Paul McCartney, but then along came The Champions with the gorgeous Stuart Damon. That was it, I was smitten, blushing and speechless whenever he came on TV. I was ten.

OMG, yes! Had forgotten (how?) about him but you've brought it all back. I must have been about 9 or 10.
