Mine was Richard Hammond. I walked in the living room at my nans when I was about 5 and he was on the screen with a seashell necklace on. I audibly said “wow” and my brother to this day makes fun of me for it relentlessly. My husband genuinely despises Richard Hammond which is pretty funny, he sees him as competition.

Also I used to really really like the Scottish engines from Thomas the Tank Donald and Douglas I think.

Kermit the Frig.
Adam Ant.

Kermit is a good choice but Miss Piggy can definitely fight so I wouldn’t go near him

Mine was huckleberry Finn I was about 7. Absolutely besotted! My friend tried to get me to like Tom Sawyer instead. Err no thanks.

R0ckandHardPlace · 22/08/2025 12:11

Magnum PI and Paul Young as a 7 year old. What kind of weird arse 7 year old fancies a man with a big bushy ‘tache?

In my teens I was madly in love with Nathan Moore, the lead singer of Brother Beyond. Years later he followed me on Twitter, which practically makes him my husband in my 14 year old brain.

Silverbirchleaf · 22/08/2025 12:12

Rocky in Boon - Neil Morrisey

ginasevern · 22/08/2025 12:19

My first true love was Marc Bolan. I then graduated to Al Pacino having seen the first Godfather film. But I had others lurking in the background who I wouldn't have turned down if only they'd asked. One of them was Richard Chamberlain and another was David Essex. I can understand Richard Chamberlain not making a move but what the hell was wrong with David Essex? Does he know what he missed.

MinnieCauldwell · 22/08/2025 12:23

Ilya Kuryakin AKA David McCullum, think he was in NCIS or something. Had his photo on my bedroom wall.
Victoria Wood did a song about him.

WonsWoo · 22/08/2025 12:26

Adam Ant!

@Catsandcannedbeans my DS met Richard Hammond at Goodwood last year. They were at a track day and his Daughter and her boyfriend were driving. RH was lovely to DS and his friends. I’ve got a lovely photo if DS with him 😊

the80sweregreat · 22/08/2025 12:29

Oh, I’m glad RH is nice!

EekArghEurgh · 22/08/2025 12:31

Not sure who was first but I had a few:
the bloke from Showaddywaddy
David Essex
Elvis
Cliff Richard (!) only in the 60s films
John Travolta

i cried when Danny and Sandy did the final scene at the fair in Grease. I was hoping they wouldn't finally get together. I was 7.

Jon-Erik Hexum, from a TV series called Cover Up, about a CIA operative working undercover as a male model. He was gorgeous! Actor was tragically killed in an on-set accident.

ETA - I’ve only just realised he’s a dead-ringer for my DH at the same age! Clearly I have type 😅

Edited

Oooh yes! I watched that show just for him!!! He wasn’t my first crush tho. Mine was John Taylor from Duran Duran

Wasn’t he in The Man From UNCLE as that Ilya character?

ACatAsleepInYourHat · 22/08/2025 12:49

I couldn’t decide between John Lennon and Paul McCartney, but then along came The Champions with the gorgeous Stuart Damon. That was it, I was smitten, blushing and speechless whenever he came on TV. I was ten.

LittleBlueCat · 22/08/2025 12:53

Mr Crockett the garage man from Camberwick Green when I was about 3.
By 4 my crush was Davy Jones from the Monkees.
After that it was Peter Purves.

miaherridge2007 · 22/08/2025 12:57

Harry Styles I was 4

Coconutter24 · 22/08/2025 13:00

Leonardo DiCaprio in Titanic, honestly wasn’t sure how I could carry on knowing he’d never be my boyfriend 🙈

Catpiece · 22/08/2025 13:00

Tony Curtis

TheOtherAgentJohnson · 22/08/2025 13:06

I had a couple of age appropriate ones when I was a little kid—Jack Wild as The Artful Dodger and Scott Baio as Bugsy Malone.

I think Jason Donovan was my first crush on an adult, I must have been about eight.

MrsBucketHat · 22/08/2025 13:07

I was sure that it was someone from the TV show of The Borrowers, but I’ve just looked at the cast and can’t see a young lad. It must have been something else I was watching at the time!

Katykaty11 · 22/08/2025 13:07

Alan Alda in MASH. Still pretty cute in the West Wing.

I never saw the appeal of Leo, even though I was exactly the right age to be desperately in love with him. At that time I was all about the bad boys of sport—Eric Cantona and Ronnie O' Sullivan.

No there was quite a hot lad in it—Spiller, played by Daniel Newman. Got some Tom Hardy lips on him.
