I wouldn’t say hilarious.

Childish, yes - particularly the off-topic deviation when the thread is not going the way certain posters would like.

They inevitably return to the thread though - one just has to be patient.

Evenstar · 26/08/2025 20:58

I have almost finished setting up my new garden pond, rain is very welcome for the rest of the garden, but having to keep a close eye on the chemical levels at the moment so don’t want too much in the pond

run off water could be a problem. I topped a bucket of water onto my grass the other day and it just sat on top as it’s so dry!

PandoraSocks · 26/08/2025 21:03

That is really pretty @Evenstar

@itsgettingweird oh poor DS!

DuncinToffee · 26/08/2025 21:04

@Gandersash Feel free to contribute to the thread with your opinion on Reform's deportation plan for example. You must have found this thread for a reason.

Maybe introduce yourself?

Maybe some posters don't realise these threads have always been a mix of politics and general chit chat.

Oh the off topics are fab!

Ouch, that looks so sore @itsgettingweird. I guess with no sensation he could really hurt himself without noticing.

That’s lovely Evenstar. I don’t have room for a pond but that is so pretty!

Which is why they are in Chat and not in Politics.

Maybe we don't use enough emojis?

Ooohhh that savoury loave sounds delicious. Unfortunately I can’t eat wheat so don’t get to enjoy such treats!

Apparently it is possible to create a gluten free sourdough starter, but given previous experience of gluten free bread (even when really well done) it's not going to be the same...

PandoraSocks · 26/08/2025 21:19

Edited as thought better of it.

Well, exactly. None of us long standing posters try to dictate what we should and should not be talking about. We talk politics, but we also discuss our lives, we compliment and commiserate, we have a few laughs. We don't mind people joining, but we do have a vibe, and if we feel a newcomer is trying to push us into a particular direction, we'll ignore them.

I'm sure Reform's plans to deport people (including women and children) back to Afghanistan and pay the Taliban for taking them back will turn out wonderfully, and that no refugees will be tortured in any way at all. And of course we can be sure that these regimes will be completely trustworthy in terms of keeping to any agreement made.

Evenstar · 26/08/2025 21:25

@rockstarshoes it is a make called Blagdon, they have much smaller ones and as they are above ground they can stand on a patio and fit in corners. There is a really friendly Facebook group and I got mine second hand from someone who was upgrading. I have always wanted a fish pond since I was a little girl.

DuncinToffee · 26/08/2025 21:34

Back to politics

Mr Robert Bloom has resigned as a Councillor, having been elected for the Reform Party, after his sustained virulent racist tirades shouting the n-word at his black neighbours were revealed

There’s something calming about just watching fish swim around!

Agree it’s beautiful. The plants around it look great too

Evenstar · 26/08/2025 21:41

@itsgettingweird the ones behind are not real sadly, just thought it brightened up the fence a bit, but I have watercress in the pond and marginal plants in the baskets which should grow fairly quickly

Sorry to see about your son’s foot, that looks really sore

@PandoraSocks that is disgusting and makes me want to cry, fancy putting that picture of people just enjoying their holiday and disrespecting them like that ☹️

People just have no shame or respect nowadays.

What a vile post and those poor children enjoying their day will be online with that post forever.

PandoraSocks · 26/08/2025 21:54

Actually I wish I hadn't shared it now as it is giving it more exposure. I am going to ask MN to remove.

placemats · 26/08/2025 22:06

I'm no longer getting updates on this thread and similar is thread 26, which comes in third.
