Witches - spell help

lastminutetrip · 14/08/2025 11:09

Hey, looking for some advice as in all the years of spell work I have never had this happen before.

i did a spell on the full moon, all very well intentioned, to help me save money. I lit a candle in a special place to me, set my intention, and the candle blew out quite quickly. It was near a window, so I took it to mean spell completed ie wish made.

i took the candle home and lit it again later on the lionsgate portal night to strengthen my resolve. The wax kind of dripped on to my finger and burned me a lot. I’ve never had that happen before. I looked it up and some say it’s a warning (what can it be warning me about, it’s literally just to make me save money 😂) or - very differing view - the spell needed some kind of karmic or energy payment from me, and I “paid” with the burn to add strength and resolve to the spell.

any thoughts? I’ve done this a long time and never cast bad or ill intentioned spells so I don’t know what this was about! Has someone hexed me?

blessed be x

I don't understand why some would want to contribute to this thread if they clearly don't believe in magic. Why not scroll by instead of getting triggered.

My thoughts are how on earth can anyone believe in this utter nonsense?

I'm not sure if its all nonsense or not...but I do know that if your sure it's nonsense then perhaps this thread isnt for you..so why waste your time

Notfeelinguptoit · 15/08/2025 19:28

IHateWasps · 15/08/2025 19:17

Because this nonsense is actively detrimental and I’m on a chat forum and you are not the thread police. And as someone with genuine OCD I know how delusional beliefs can become anything but fun.(Though even at my worst I knew that none of my rituals actually made any difference but your fucked up brain compels you to follow them. And even then I would never have told anyone that they worked because that would be A) Wrong and B) harmful.

If you want to wave around willow and sage and like playing with candles, crystals and tisanes then enjoy but trying to convince others that they work and expecting people to give their supposed merits any real consideration is a fool’s errand.

Anyway it’s Jane Austen time.

Yes your on a chat forum, but why are you commenting on a threads that you feel so negative towards?
It doesn’t make sense, why don’t you go and spread your negative energy on a chat about something else.

No one here is trying to convince others that they work either 🙈
People have their own beliefs and there’s nothing wrong with trying to find comfort in spells, crystals and the universe.
Nobody is causing anyone any harm and really it shouldn’t be bothering you and it’s weird that it offends you so deeply.

Interested in this thread?

Then you might like threads about these subjects:

And yet I’m not encouraging you, am I? So clearly I’m not encouraging wankers. Maybe Sense and Sensibility might teach you have a little of both.

I’d rather be a “wanker” than encourage delusion and foolishness to multiply without challenging it but no you, the self appointed thread police, bask in how open minded and nice you think are. You’re probably not the vulnerable person that teaching people to cling to their delusions will bite on the backside one day but someone certainly is.

Don’t be so narrow minded

Elvisismycat · 15/08/2025 19:31

Jokes aside.. i tried a frozen spell on a person who was toxic and bad mouthing me... It worked! ( well in my head it did) i still believe in it tho.

LouiseK93 · 15/08/2025 19:32

If its nonsense then surely you mean it doesnt work, so cancels out the possibility of harm/danger

No one is encouraging delusion!!! You keep saying this stuff about people trying to convince others it’s real yet OP asked a question, a question not for you, but for those who practice her religion. So why are you still ribbiting on? She doesn’t care if you don’t agree with her religion. She didn’t ask you if you think her religion is real or not. She asked about an aspect of her religion which you don’t believe in and therefore cannot answer.
She isn’t trying to convince anyone of anything. She isn’t teaching anyone anything. She just wanted to ask a question and seek an answer from those who understand her.

You are determined to undermine her and her fellow wiccans/pagans for no other reason than you like the sound of your own voice. You’ve made your point, repeatedly, can’t you go and watch your film and leave everyone on here who is interested, curious and helpful alone?

And the irony of calling me the thread police when you tried to shut OP and her thread down after the first police is very amusing.

my ExH has been in a baggy of ice in the bottom of my freezer for years. Every now and again i take him out, defrost him, renew the name/replace the water and stuff him back in.

it's been quite peaceful XD

IHateWasps · 15/08/2025 19:34

For all the self appointed thread police we are on a chat forum. I can post what I like. I don’t expect you to give a shit but this is not The Unexplained so I can post what I like whether or not you approve. And just as you can post what you think but no I am not going to leave the thread just because you think that I have no right to an opinion. I do not have to agree in order to post because this is Chat. Create a dedicated Paganism/Wicca forum or thread in Philosophy if you wish and I shall not trouble you there.

shuggles · 15/08/2025 19:34

@Kreepture do your research,

Googling and reading online resources is not research.

ask questions,

Is that not what I just did?

talk to other practitioners.

... OP is a practitioner. So again, is that not what I just did?

Again, this is ironic as the first response to OP was you being ‘thread police’ and shutting her down. You can post horrible stuff to the OP and everyone else can post and tell you shut up - you want freedom of posting, you have it. You can’t tell everyone to not tell you to be quiet when you are trying to silence the OP and other Wiccan’s/pagans

psst.. so am i, with over 25 years experience.

who said anything about just online? There are a plethora of book and resources out there to read where you will learn more than on here.

Books about Paganism, Witchcraft, spells.. look on amazon or pop into a bookshop in the New Age section.

Do some basic learning/research into it then find the thread on the philosophy section, or facebook groups, or witchtok and ask questions, join in the conversations.

You don't learn anything by osmosis.

Thread police, what a insult 😂😂

Why are you so concerned though?
If it’s bothering you that much why don’t you just move along.
Find a thread that does actually interest you where your opinions may be heard.
You’re ruining the thread completely just because you like the sound of your own voice and think your opinions matter the most.

Is this the right forum for this type of discussion? Would it be more appropriate in a different section, or perhaps on another platform like Reddit?

You’ll need input from people with relevant experience who understand how this works.

You ok hun?

IHateWasps · 15/08/2025 19:49

I don’t have to move along if I don’t want to because again you’re not in charge of the fucking thread and neither are the other flying monkeys.

I didn’t tell OP that she couldn’t post but she can’t expect everyone to just go along with her delusions.

And yes people are encouraging delusions. There needs to be a general belief in such nonsense for scammers to thrive. If no one believed in it there would be no market for it and no witch doctors, mediums, cults or other scammers to pray upon people. Giving it a credence that it doesn’t deserve absolutely does build the foundation that these scammers use to propagate their own particular brand of woo.

And yes it is actively harmful. I remember a thread from a forum few years ago where a poster thought that she was experiencing time travel or gaps in time. She was experiencing some other odd symptoms and showing some blatant signs of what was likely a neurological problem(Perhap temporal lobe epilepsy). She needed to see her GP ASAP and yet we had people positively encouraging her to believe that she was time traveling and to explore it instead of suggesting that she see a medical professional. That is blatantly harmful.

Laurmolonlabe · 15/08/2025 19:50

I would say you are spelling to save money, but you don't really want to, you need to.
A much better way to approach this is to spell to attract money to you- having a negative at the heart of spell work is always tricky- keep it positive, always.

Sodastreamin · 15/08/2025 19:51

We’ve only got a few weeks left of the summer holidays, not long now….

@NotfeelinguptoitYou don’t get to demand that anyone who has a differing opinion or viewpoint, moves along. That’s not how Mumsnet works, love.

Hating wasps can be deemed harmful tbf 🤷‍♀️

I don’t actually mind wasps all that much. I put out a bit of pastry for a hungry looking one that was flying around my bins earlier.

Again, what has that got to do with Paganism? Were Pagans telling her she was experiencing that? Doubtful. And the thread isn’t about any of the things you mento rd5at all. No one here is scanning OP, she asked a question about her own religious practices, end of. She doesn’t want you to go along with it, she asked a specific question. How are you not understanding this?

I’m not in charge of the thread and nor are you, but you don’t seem to understand the basic principle of if you post what you want, others will do too.

OP has the right to post. You have the right to leave unpleasant comments. I have the right to respond, in kind, to those comments. So all this. ‘ThReAd PoLiCe’ stuff is your own behaviour too.

You have a surprising lack of self awareness.
