Did anyone see it? Northbound between Oxford and Cherwell Valley at around 1330?

traffic stopped, entrance blocked, loads of motorbikes, black SUV’s, Black range rovers all with blacked out windows, about 30 vehicles, plus a helicopter.

Wonder who it was for? I assumed Royalty but I’ve seen them before in London and on motorways and the entourage was nothing like this, no helicopter either.

The Americans love loads of securit!

I went to see US president Joe Biden in Ireland.

When I was talking to my mum about it later, the first thing I talked about was not Joe, but I was telling her about the hot security guards.

Ive never seen so many sexy secret service men in one place. They are hot!

feckingenuff · 11/08/2025 11:27

I agree, no public money should be spent on this visit unless it is a proper official visit. I suspect JD also shoehorned a useless meeting with Lammy in order to be able to put his private holiday on expenses and get UK taxpayers to chip in. His crappy visit will not bring money into the areas he closes down. Money wasted on 'protecting' him from the UK public could have been spent on more police protecting us from him.

Trump shoe horned work into his recent visit to Scotland when it was actually about opening his new golf course. By throwing a few meetings in, it meant he got to use the American tax payer to pay for his travel and expenses. And Scotland to pay for his protection.

Wasn’t it also for official business? I’d take it as read that every trip includes a grifting opportunity but I thought this one did genuinely have some state business rather than being a private holiday?

GasPanic · 11/08/2025 12:23

I don't get why they don't use a helicopter and drop him off at the nearest suitable place.

It must be much less expensive as you only need 1, 2 helicopters rather than the mobilisation of an entire police force.

This is excellent!!

Maybe you could also, carnival style, have volunteers walking alongside rattling buckets and urging onlookers to give generously.

Considering how many millions the cost of all of this immense security for the panjandrums runs to, every handful of grubby coppers would help!

Yes absolutely, the collectors will be heftily built men in ill fitting suits plus fluorescent tabards, fake arm and gun bulge on one side, collection bucket on the other. I expect sufficient donations to cover costs and support participating organisations.

Definitely more trump business than state business. Just a few meetings meaning he can use the perks

FatherFrosty · 11/08/2025 13:36

Have you seen the videos of the convoy going through the Cotswolds on the wrong side of the road

This is just for funding purposes of course, I have full confidence in the majorette leaders for my protection.

That’s a good question. My guess - total guess - is that security bods think helicopters are more vulnerable to attack and impossible to make a rescue from and should be used as rarely as possible.

I'm on hliday in that area but no police have escorted me anywhere so I assume they are not planning on helping DH and myself!

Well, let me tell you a secret service story. My friend used to work (at a very low level) with Bill Clinton back in the 00s. We lived in NYC then. They did a week long event where he was around a lot (normally he was like in the same building but she rarely saw him). But because she was working more closely with him and shuffling him around to where he was meant to be at this event, she got to know a few of his secret service agents.

At the end of the week, ole Billy flew off to his country house somewhere and his secret service agents were free until they had to fly home the next day. My friend invited them out for drinks and said she’d find some friends to show them around the city for the night, and was like, omg, do you want to go out drinking with Bill Clinton’s secret service agents?! I was like give me 20 minutes.

These guys were an absolute hot mess. They told us all sorts of stories about shit they probably should not have. One knocked a tooth out falling over doing a shot. The other was so drunk he fell down the stairs, an entire flight of stairs, to the bar basement looking for the toilet. My friend and I had to put them in a cab eventually and just hope they made it safely back to their hotel. 🤣 I always think of them when I hear stories about secret service. Because if they are anything like these fools, no wonder they need so many of them!

Sounds about right for work hard/play hard ex-military types. I think you have to be a little crazy to take a job where you're expected to take a bullet for your boss!

When we saw the cavalcade we thought he was going to Diddly Squat! 😂

Best place - let's face it, useful for diddly squat sums up the job of vice-president perfectly.😁

Soho Farm weren’t even asked. They wanted Estelle Manor. It is much smarter.

Soho Houses are verging on Wetherspoons these days.. ;)

slightlydistrac · 11/08/2025 16:20

BIT SHOUT OUT TO ALL COTSWOLD FARMERS...

Isn't it about time you harvested your onions? Please, please all of you, join forces and harvest the entire lot on one single day. It will make the Cotswolds smell wonderful.

While you're at it, and if you happen to have a combine harvester lying around handy, isn't it about time it mysteriously broke down right in the middle of a busy junction?

Like the ones who got busted in S.America for using brothels? The Cartagena scandal in 2012

Oh don't upset yourselves about costs to the UK taxpayer and JDV's oft expressed contempt for our country. He wears suits and might well say 'thank you' when he leaves. I understand he's keen on both of those. That should be enough for us.

The sooner he leaves the better. And he can take his sunglassed goons with him.

Vance was in Hampton court the other day. He managed to get the place to himself and entourage/family, all others were denied entry. HUGE parade of cars through Hampton Hill. Twat.

GCAcademic · 10/08/2025 16:50

Because he is (presumably) categorised as an Internationally Protected Person, and we do not allow armed private security in this country. This was at the crux of Prince Harry’s legal case against the U.K. government (he does not have that status).

I can see why harry is pissed off then. He is home grown royalty (albeit has left the Uk but still returns) and we are protecting this fecking prick!

HonoriaBulstrode · 11/08/2025 22:54

Vance, like him or not, has been elected to public office and gets the protection deemed appropriate for his position.

Harry holds no public office and therefore has no automatic right to protection - the same as every other member of the RF except the K&Q and those in the direct line of succession.

MMCQ · 11/08/2025 23:53

And have any of our own Queens, Kings, Prime Ministers or deputies ever had anywhere near this level of bonkers security?

What makes his elected position so damned important anyway? He literally just licks Trump's arse for a living.
