🤷 The Russian offensive brought almost no results, as the enemy failed to capture a single major city — General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Russia’s latest offensive campaign this season ended in vain: the occupiers did not seize control of a single major city, the General Staff reported, commenting on Russian Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov’s account of the “results of the spring-summer campaign of 2025.”
🔹 The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit has started in China.
The event is attended by leaders of China, Azerbaijan, Türkiye, India, Kazakhstan, Russia, and other member states, as well as partners of the organization.
According to media reports, Putin arrived in China to coordinate positions on the war in Ukraine with Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
🔸 Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi: Russia has lost more than 290,000 soldiers at the front since the beginning of the year.
The heaviest losses were recorded in the Donetsk region, particularly in the Pokrovsk direction, where Russian forces focused their main efforts but failed to achieve any strategic objectives.
🔹 Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that no concessions or subtle games with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and aggressive Russia will bring success or guarantee security. He made the remarks during a joint media statement with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, quoted by RMF24.
“Poland, Europe, NATO, the United States must again, like before, like 45 years ago, when we felt the support of the entire West…, be very firm, resolute, and united against this next version of the evil empire. Enough of concessions, we must be firm and well prepared for this,” Tusk said.
He stressed that Poland is counting on a “very serious” share in European security funding programs, particularly the SAFE program.
“We are submitting applications for tens of billions of euros and we are talking about it without complexes. We are not asking anyone for anything, because in this matter no one is doing anyone any favors. Poland will invest 200 billion zlotys ($54 billion) in defense, defense industry and the Polish army next year. Therefore, we take our responsibilities seriously and expect all institutions and states of Europe to take the same serious attitude to the issue of security of the eastern border and a firm position towards the aggressor and Russia,” Tusk noted.
🔸 The European Commission is preparing proposals for the use of €210 billion in frozen Russian assets, Euractiv reports.
Member states hold differing positions. Poland and the Baltic countries advocate full confiscation, while Belgium, which controls the largest share of frozen assets, opposes this step, fearing it could undermine confidence in the euro.
Alongside full confiscation and the current mechanism of using “excess profits,” new options are being considered to make the assets generate more income. The Commission is expected to present a set of proposals, backed by legal analysis, within two months.
One scenario envisions placing the assets in a “special purpose vehicle” (SPV) managed from Brussels — a new fund supported by several EU and non-EU countries. This would allow riskier investments aimed at achieving higher returns for Ukraine.
Moving the assets into such a structure could also bypass the unanimity rule, preventing Hungary — seen as the most likely opponent of new sanctions — from enabling the funds’ return to Moscow.
🔹 Experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency were denied access to a newly built dam on the channel of one of the cooling ponds at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
At the end of May, an IAEA representative told Reuters there were no indications that Russia was preparing to restart the occupied plant. Earlier, in April, Russian officials stated they did not intend to relinquish control of the Zaporizhzhia NPP as part of any potential peace agreement.
🔸 Special forces of the HUR from the “Prymary” (“Ghosts”) unit struck Russian military infrastructure in temporarily occupied Crimea, destroying several targets.
Among the destroyed objects were:
▫️ the RT-70 radio telescope, used by Russia for military communications;
▫️ the Utes-T radar complex;
▫️ the Glonass complex in the dome;
▫️ the MR-10M1 Mys M1 coastal radar;
▫️ the 96L6-AP radar from the S-400 air defense system.

🔹 Ukrainian soldiers repelled a massive assault by Russian occupiers and prevented a breakthrough of the defense line.
In the Siversk direction, fighters of the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade of the 7th Airborne Assault Corps precisely eliminated the invaders, who attempted a breakthrough with the support of aviation, artillery, strike drones, and FPVs.
But nothing helped. Thanks to the powerful actions of Ukrainian defenders, four armored personnel carriers and about 30 occupiers were destroyed.
🔸 Russian Soldier Executes Unarmed Elderly Ukrainian, Prosecutors Launch Investigation
The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into the killing of a civilian man by a Russian serviceman in the settlement of Novoeconomichne, Pokrovsk district.
According to the investigation, on August 28, 2025, a Russian infantry soldier hid behind a garage on private property in the settlement. When he saw a elderly civilian man in the yard, he fired a targeted shot with an automatic weapon, killing him on the spot.
🔹 At the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Bulgaria supplied a third of the weapons to Kyiv, said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
She also welcomed Bulgaria’s plans to boost production of gunpowder and NATO-caliber shells, a significant share of which will go to Ukraine.
🤦♂️“The crisis in Ukraine” did not arise as a result of Russia’s attack, but because of a “coup d’état” in Kyiv provoked by the West, said Russian dictator Putin at the SCO summit.

▫️ The root causes of the “crisis in Ukraine” must be eliminated and the balance in the security sphere restored.
🔸 In Belarus, scenarios for the use of nuclear weapons will be practiced at CSTO exercises.
Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus, Pavel Muraveyko, said that during the drills, planning for the use of nuclear weapons will be practiced, but the weapons themselves will not be used.
“You cannot use something that poses a threat to the entire world, to common security. And we will learn how to plan it,” he noted.
🔹 The leaders of the two coalition factions in the Bundestag, Jens Spahn of the CDU/CSU and Matthias Miersch of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), have arrived in Kyiv.
They plan to hold talks on Germany’s continued support for Ukraine and on diplomatic efforts to end the war.
Asked about possible security guarantees for Ukraine, Spahn said the best guarantee is a well-equipped Ukrainian army.
