I just saw that @Evenstar
Outrageous.

cardibach · 10/08/2025 22:12

Just had to do a shed load of reports on a disguised anti-traveller thread. It obnoxious.

Evenstar · 10/08/2025 22:13

I don’t know if anyone watched the Antiques Roadshow special for VJ Day tonight, but I was very moved by the meeting of the children of soldiers from both sides, they emphasised our common humanity and that we must build bridges.

There was also an elderly woman who survived Hiroshima, who spoke of her life’s work being to speak about it so that such a horror should never happen again.

Fake patriots like Farage pretend to honour our war dead, but everything they do shows contempt for their values and what they fought for. They want to take all our human rights from us, they and MAGA in the USA dehumanise vulnerable people and tell lies about them.

I would like to see the Government take action against them for spreading disinformation and inciting violence and unrest, I can’t believe we have no laws that are applicable in this situation.

PandoraSocks · 10/08/2025 22:15

I just saw that thread. It is fucking disgusting. As is the Farage post.

Eta: it has been deleted. Not for being a racist swamp of hate, but because the OP requested it.

DuncinToffee · 10/08/2025 22:19

It's zapped now, OP's request rather than the contents

I absolutely agree. Some poor innocent asylum seeker will end up getting killed if something is not done.

They never put a poll on. Plus I couldn't give a shiny about what Falstaff says because he's a clown 🤡

placemats · 10/08/2025 22:50

I find clowns sinister and horrible.

Disguising the topic of threads to get people to open them is a tactic that's common.

It’s been defended elsewhere. 🥺

Pandora’s recent thread on Site Stuff clearly isn’t resonating with the mods yet. On the long-running train thread from yesterday, someone posted about all the problems being caused by recent UK arrivals. No reason for them to suddenly introduce an anti-immigration ‘slant’ to the thread! Thankfully no-one responded to it, but I felt that it was misinformation at best, disinformation at worst - and therefore ought to be dealt with by MNHQ.

Reported. Report acknowledged. No action taken. So I reported again, quoting MNHQ’s comments about mis/disinformation. Finally today I have a reply which grudgingly admits ‘given the context’ that the comment was inflammatory.

I’m obviously not going to link to the thread in question, or name names. And that’s not the point. The point being that for all Becky’s words on Pandora’s thread, we really have to push to get the mods to see what’s going on/do something about it.

the smirk. He smirked as he did it. I'll bet he was super excited at the thought of all the attention it would get him.

I have noticed that it is brought into any topic. Thinning hair? Blame asylum seekers etc.

Absolutely. I'm saddened that the mods didn't immediately accept that that comment was inflammatory.

Saucery · 11/08/2025 08:58

I had similar, @BIWI . Had quite a good chat with a member of MNHQ this week and came away hopeful that reporting might start to do the trick. But sweeping generalisations about entire communities reported yesterday? Crickets. So disappointing. I totally get that my take on some comments might vary from moderation guidelines, or between MNHQ staff (they are only human, probably dealing with tons of reports and no doubt it’s a tough call at times), but there was no room for reading ambiguity in those comments. None whatsoever.
To read about ‘remigration’ on a parenting site (no particular thread, before anyone gets their knickers in a twist) is just appalling. How must that feel to the parents on here who aren’t White or are from communities about whom those sweeping generalisations are made? Bloody awful atmosphere on here atm.

Yes! He clearly didn't mind that it showed just how far right he is. He's expecting it to impress more than it repels.

Zonder · 11/08/2025 09:01

I totally agree @BIWI and @Saucery - it feels so much more hopeless now that we have had the conversation with Becky @ MN on Pandora's thread

It's a shocking and brazen video and he seems happy for it to stay up on xitter.

Don't want to start a bunfight - its just musing-but is this the new 'everything is about men in women's spaces'? It used to be you could be innocently posting about anything and someone would bring that up...that still happens but much more stuff about immigration now.

BIWI · 11/08/2025 09:28

I don’t think it’s like that though - I think it’s more about the permission that people with such views now feel that they have, to post them. Plus, no doubt, the ‘invaders’ who are pushing the anti-immigrant/‘illegal immigrant’ rhetoric on MN.

And whereas the trans debate probably only affects a minority of MNetters, the issue of racism (which let’s face it, a lot of it is) will affect significantly more.

Piggywaspushed · 11/08/2025 09:51

Yes, very true.

PandoraSocks · 11/08/2025 09:59

I have a feeling the most active invader has been shown the door...

PandoraSocks · 11/08/2025 10:06
