Its just a retread of the same techniques used for Brexit.
Selling a fear that can be 'easily' resolved.

Also super handily it can be esclated so that when issues are not magically resolved you can pivot and widen the criteria.

Left the EU and the economy nosedives? Campaign to WTO/ECHR/Refugee Convention etc.

Get rid of asylum seekers and societal problems remain, well that will be those pesky people that arent 2nd/3rd/4th generation British and on.

I have a feeling the most active invader has been shown the door...

Were they on the travellers thread too? Interesting.

DuncinToffee · 11/08/2025 10:27

Just reading on another thread that deporting more criminals is now not a good move.

'cause Labour.

Anyone near the village of Dean? Vance is staying nearby.

I am not sure, tbh. I didn't read the whole thing.

I’ve just got drawn into that, I should know better. It’s the usual suspects who would decry anything and everything this government did. It could deposit £1 million in their bank accounts and they’d still criticise it.

Just don't bother BIossomtoes. Some posters have really shown their true colours this past week.

From Farage's X account:

Don’t miss the #WomenForReform press conference live from HQ at 11am.

The uni-party has completely failed to keep women and girls safe.

This is the next big issue in British politics.

That may explain the spamming on MN.

DuncinToffee · 11/08/2025 14:30
Shock

Buried in The Observer yesterday was this: UK police knocking on doors demanding details of social media accounts of people, to pass to a foreign government, simply because they happen to live near where a US politician wanted to have a holiday https://observer.co.uk/news/national/article/first-it-was-clarkson-now-its-vance-spare-a-thought-for-the-beleaguered-cotswolds

Are we sure the police weren't warning residents that the associate of a known sex offender was in the area ?

Evenstar · 11/08/2025 14:41

@SerendipityJane 😂

Garage wasn't there. Sarah Pochin was. From the PA new agency whe Pochin was asked an whether Reform had found itself "aligning" with Trump, Pochin said:

"This Party is not aligned with Donald Trump. Donald Trump does what he does over the pond, and we do what we do. And when Nigel becomes the prime minister in 2029, then you will see a Reform government which is committed to the safety and the protection of women and girls in this country. And the other thing I would say is, Donald Trump certainly comes across at time, when I look at him through the television or the media, as possibly a bit of a chauvinist, or whatever.

But look at his team. I mean his press secretary is awesome, l can't remember her name, but he has a lot of very senior women in his team.

So actually, he clearly does respect women and promotes women in his team, as Nigel is very much doing, as you've seen today l, with four senior women hosting this press conference."

Taken from politics live, Andrew Sparrow in today's Guardian.

Oops Garage - I'll leave that stand. Can't do links at the moment.

I'm serious.

If I lived there, I'd be on the Facebook and post

"Just had local police knock on my door to let me know that a known associate of the convicted sex offender 'Donald Trump' is in the area, and to make sure I know where all my children are".

And then let the feathers fly.

Karistyleaftea · 11/08/2025 17:05

@Blossomtoes Thanks for the article .
Seems to me that Farage and Jenrick are acting in a horrible way, all for self promotion.
In my opinion.

ilovesooty · 11/08/2025 17:51

I don't know how anyone can take Pochin and her majority of 6 seriously. I'm still annoyed by one of my online acquaintances who lives in that ward who decided not to vote as she thought the Labour candidate had common speech and cheap clothes.

placemats · 11/08/2025 17:56

I think that a Reform loving moderator is certainly in the employ of a website that's primarily for mum's.

placemats · 11/08/2025 17:58

There's only 4 Reform MPs @ilovesooty

Evenstar · 11/08/2025 17:59

@placemats that was Pochin’s majority in the by election, just six votes ☹️

Totally agree.
Stuff that would have been pulled up on in the past is totally normal now, pile on's. racism, misogyny... all ok.

Its almost as if moderation has gone the way of FB.

placemats · 11/08/2025 19:47

Facebook moderation has always been notoriously awful. Bluesky is similar to xitter.

Not worth the energy.
