A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. Labour isn't working!

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Universal Credit claimants reaches a record high of 8 million. Highest ever.

The rise driven almost entirely by people who are not required to work (rather than those on low incomes or out of work). This category has seen a 39% increase on this time last year.

That's a huge rise of people not required to work. Do you have any more breakdown on what's driven the ncrease, eg changes to criteria?

EasternStandard · 13/08/2025 07:14

I’m wondering too it’s a big increase.

Starmer's failing ‘ground breaking’ deal and the following images of crossings- I wonder if he or Labour will throw in the towel.

They probably won’t because they are power hungry but it’s going to tank them.

That's a huge jump. The breakdown will be interesting.

I believe that single parents with children below a certain age don't have job seeking requirements, but surely that demographic can't account for the full increase? If it does, that's a whole load of 'leaving the bastard' having been going on!

Whichever party won at the last GE was always going to find it hard. However, Labour seem to have mastered fucking up everything they try. It's going to be a long old (almost) 4 years.

Approval rating: 68% disapprove whilst only 13% approve of the government.

No doubt Labour cultists will deny that!

It’s odd to see the posts from those in the 13%. They are so very committed to Labour.

I wouldn't put it past them to bring back the Rwanda plan.

But. But. Starmer said no tax rises on ’working people’. So us ‘working people’ are safe!

Ah but remember they have given us a list of what they class as "working people" and it excluded many people who work 😄

Ohhh .. so you mean working people doesn’t mean working people? Just some people who work and not others?

And there’s a list of people who they tell us are working people? But what about working people who aren’t on that list of working people? Are they then not working people? Logic suggests if they’re not on the list of working people then they are in fact Not working people.

Does that mean we can get benefits, since we’re not working people? I mean I have a job but if it’s not on The List, then it doesn’t count as a working person. So hopefully I can continue to get paid for doing the non work that not working people do, and get benefits for not being a working person.

And not get tax increases because I’m not a working person.

Why, this is a win win!!

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 13/08/2025 08:39

Oh and Ricky Jones apparently has ADHD, dyslexia and dyscalculia, and so couldn't stop himself from telling a crowd of protestors to go out there and slit some throats.

That's a huge rise of people not required to work. Do you have any more breakdown on what's driven the ncrease, eg changes to criteria?

It is likely due to thousands of claimants migrating from ESA to UC who are usually long term unfit to work through illness or disability.

Info taken from Sky yesterday.
I can't find specific breakdowns, although the story is covered across the media this morning. This category does include parents with a child under 1, so could be lots of LTBs? There does seem to be a higher percentage of women in this category.

The most detailed breakdown I could find is in the mail.

They did this prior to the last budget didn't they, trying to lessen the blow.
There will no doubt be lots of kite flying.
