You don't win against a frenzied beast by just diving in.
You have to stand back, watch it's strategy, and let it wear itself out.
The best way to catch an elephant is not to charge into a herd willy nilly.
You fashion a tether out of the liana vine and attach it to a felled tree. You throw the loop where elephants pass and wait for one to snag the line. It starts dragging the log but cannot break the vine as it is elastic.
Eventually it will tire and can be overcome.
Or so I am told.
