I suspect this is spot on. Problem is that I suspect the ‘deal’ will be that Russia gains the whole of luhansk and Donetsk, land they don’t currently control and have no immediate chance of gaining. What it means for Ukraine is that they have to give up their best lines of built up defences so makes any future offensive much easier for Russia.

Isn't it just beyond comprehension that one man can do deals with countries all depending on whether they have something on him, whether they have snubbed him in the past, and the fact he just hasn't got the intelligence to understand basic facts is terrifying.

I was listening to a podcast yesterday (can’t remember which one as I listen to so many 🙈) but the suggestion is that it’s the end of Zelenskyy either way. If he accepts the deal he’ll be blamed for a bad deal and if he refuses he’ll be blamed for no deal and a continuation in the fighting.
