Maybe a really stupid question but what does it mean, what are the on the ground implications for real American citizens?

I'm guessing, but I think it means "don't make the place look diseased or smelly untidy to put of tourists" yeah, like anyone with half a brain cell would travel to the US right now.

Being very dim, I don't understand about him taking over the National Guard. Isn't that illegal? (not that illegality has stopped him before). But hasn't Gavin Newsom Calif Governor taken him to court over this when he sent all those troops down there?

Trump can invoke a rarely used law during times of invasion but surely that doesn't mean clearing away homeless people...

What with Vance's arsehole holiday trip to the U.K., poncing about with his ridiculous 19+ vehicle motorcade and SS agents accosting locals for personal details, the news of Drumpf's forthcoming trip to Alaska to hand over Ukraine to Putin, then add to that the 🍊💩's decision to target Dem leaning cities by bringing in the Nat Guard, I am spending way more time than is healthy imagining how I would like them all to suffer! 😡 (Hint - it won't be pretty)

I think it was on Pod Save America over the weekend that said Trump has implemented almost 50% of Project 2025 in just over 6 months.

We keep being told, by the likes of Michael Steele (former Chair of the RNC and very much not a Trump acolyte) that Republicans are working in the background to try and limit Trump’s damage but we need to start seeing some evidence of this.

In a perverse way Elon may hold the <fnar> Trump card. Even if he doesn’t go through with his threats to start a new party, all he needs to do is buy off a handful of Congressman and Senators and the balance of power will sit with him. Not saying that’s the “best” option, but we know he’s not a fan of the BBB and maybe he can at least throw up some roadblocks.

He is no Pence who used to gaze adoringly at Trump whenever he opened his mouth.

Can Trump fire his vice-president? Come to that, can his vice-president resign?

Trump seems to be able to do anything with no recourse, but who knows!

My understanding is that the VP cannot be "fired" as he has been voted in as part of the "Ticket"

I am sure he can resign if he wants to, but doing so would torpedo his chances of ever being POTUS.

I don't think he is on the way out, yet. Trump pretty much endorsed him as his successor last week so for now he is in the good books. He's playing the game, keeping his head down and not drawing too much attention to himself whilst popping up occasionally to blow smoke up Trumps arse.

That all said, whether he has the personality to hold MAGA together a la Trump, I really doubt it.
