My understanding is that the VP cannot be "fired" as he has been voted in as part of the "Ticket"
I am sure he can resign if he wants to, but doing so would torpedo his chances of ever being POTUS.
I don't think he is on the way out, yet. Trump pretty much endorsed him as his successor last week so for now he is in the good books. He's playing the game, keeping his head down and not drawing too much attention to himself whilst popping up occasionally to blow smoke up Trumps arse.
That all said, whether he has the personality to hold MAGA together a la Trump, I really doubt it.
