What did you eat today?

A few months ago there was a really fun series of threads where people listed what they’d eaten that day (and had a general chat).

I really enjoyed it but can’t find it anymore so I thought I’d start one.

It was really interesting and varied (it’s not a weight loss or judgy thread- unless the judgement is ‘that sounds delicious, what’s the recipe/where did you buy it?’). Everyone is welcome!

Today I’ve had:
Breakfast- Scrambled eggs, sautéed veg (tomatoes, red onion, spinach, mushrooms). And tea with milk.

Snack- Americano with milk

Lunch- Chicken salad (chicken breast, cucumber, tomato, lettuce, avocado, sesame dressing).
Followed by low fat Greek yoghurt with peanut butter, strawberries, nectarine and blueberries.

Dinner- Will be roasted salmon, homemade potato wedges, roasted courgette/tomato/onion/fennel.
Followed by a watermelon and lime ice lolly (I make my own so it’s just fruit).

I’ve just started weight watchers so it’s not the most exciting day (I’ve also tried to cut out UPFs as much as possible and use my points on high fat whole foods like avocado and nuts). I’m looking forward to living vicariously through other people’s treats!

@FurForksSake it's not the norm, have the day off and took myself for a hike. Exhausted now!

FurForksSake · 19/09/2025 13:42

it’s a beautiful day, good for you! When I could walk for more than five minutes I always meant to do solo hikes on my days off but felt too self/conscious. I need a dog 😆

MrsSethGecko · 19/09/2025 18:51

@FurForksSake I don't feel right walking without the dog. I feel watched. I'm aware that is weird of me!

I've just had a big fishcake and 1/3 bag of chips (child and the dog had the rest.) Delicious.

Ooh I love a fish cake, the filled ones in Aldi are good.

we are very close to getting a dog, dh is keen. We are arguing between a vizsla, lab and flat coated retriever. It doesn’t need to be working as a gun dog, but we could be inclined to go that way. Knowing DH he’d train it to point or retrieve and go off with the family and I’d never see them 😆 I quite fancy a sausage dog, but I’ve given up on that.

It’s funny how walking the dog feels very normal and natural but just going for a walk feels self conscious.

MrsSethGecko · 19/09/2025 19:47

Vizsla are lovely! We know a couple from walking in the park here. So clever and so pretty. I've got a Jack Russell terrorist. (Not a misprint.)

FurForksSake · 19/09/2025 19:51

😆😆 we’ve got a cat so a JRT would not work. I lived with one once called Breeches, she belonged to a very horsey girl.

Thistlecrane · 19/09/2025 22:46

Well fishcakes sound delightful, a Yorkshire fishcake is a thing to behold.
Agree with the walking dog theory:With dog, not weird, without dog deffo weirdo😂🐶
No fishcakes for me, Yorkshire or otherwise, same old same old,
Yogurt blueberry strawberries chia almonds
Chicken salad, no cherries though 😂
The only chocolate I have been indulging in whilst on the mj, is a big stupid bastard chocolate lab, he is my walking companion and all round excuse for exercising, adorable he is, but thick as two short planks. ❤️🐶❤️

Today, I went retro and had a Wimpy brunch. Hamburger & chips and a Pepsi Max. The burger was gorgeous but the chips weren’t quite right. I don’t know if they’ve changed them or it’s just that branch trying to save a couple of quid, but something tasted different.

Then about 5pm, I had a bag of mini cheddars, a bag of fish & chip crisps and some mint Poppets with a can of Irn Bru.

FurForksSake · 20/09/2025 23:37

Gosh, I didn’t realise wimpy still had restaurants! Looks like the one I used to go to in Marlow a million years ago has relocated. I guess they kept it as the head office is in the town.

Yeah, I think there are just a handful left now, but they are still flipping delicious. No dessert menu though, which is a shame because I wanted to try a Brown Derby again.

FurForksSake · 20/09/2025 23:54
