Deleted now, but l feel so ashamed and mortified … reached out to a couple of members to apologise but no response.. it may or may not blow over but please tell me your experience of sending messages to the wrong group so l don’t feel so alone in my stupidity …

Dear Lord, these are hilarious.
I think some of these are total classics.
How on earth would you ever feel shame again when you compare it to your poor friend.
Phones are dangerous. Particularly WhatsApp.
Lethal in ditzy hands.

and in "dirty" hands 😂

Bathroomfloor · 27/06/2025 10:43

I keep coming back to the thread just to read @autumncrisp ’s one. And I laugh out loud every. single. time 😂

pictoosh · 27/06/2025 10:48

"I'm dirty" had us cackling away in here. 😆

Also 'rate my plate' and the poor Slimming World member who had been pleased with her dinner and thought to share it. Ha ha!

I once sent a bitchy message to the person I was bitching about. Mortified but held my hands up and owned it. She actually wasn't that fussed because she had been bitching about me elsewhere as well. We both agreed we were a pair of bitches and it never became an issue. We're still friendly today.

Haha! I once send a message to my older son's Tennis group instead of my husband that some part of my placenta just fell out of me... obviously I was not in the right state of mind, having just delivered a baby. Weeks later I proudly pushed the baby pram and took my older son to tennis. Nobody ever mentioned anything.

Bimblebombles · 26/06/2025 17:38

Not as bad as some of these, but sent a detailed shopping list to my boss's teenage son once, specifying "the good cheese, not that shit one you always buy".

Why did you have your boss's teenage son's number? 😕

I was once ill and cancelled going to MIL birthday, she was not happy and threatened to cancel all of her plans. I felt terrible letting her down and was quite upset.
Afterwards I text my mum, who replied angrily that "that fucking woman needs to understand you are ill, I won't have her doing this to you again, etc etc.
Yes you guessed it, she sent it to my MIL. To make matters worse, I had sent a further text to my mum, which she then replied to, in the same manner, plenty of personal criticism about MIL. Again she sent it to my MIL.
Then I had a phone call from a very angry MIL.....I still feel sick just thinking about it.

I felt that !! It’s that sickening feeling that a cat out of the bag can never be squashed back in . Your poor mum .

I once sent a friend a message saying “can’t wait for tonight, what time shall I come over?” but accidentally sent it to my boss, who replied “7pm?”

Haaaaaa….but did you go ?

did you check info to see who read it before deleting

No …l panicked . But it’s clear several people commented on my post stating they would visit more if they weren’t so busy.

This made me laugh the most. So sorry as it sounds awful but just such hilarious timing 😂Then I reread it and realised it was a voice note rather than a message and it made me laugh even more!

Edited

It was awful at the time, literally went cold when I realised and he'd read it immediately...stared at my phone in absolute horror when he called.

There was no way of getting out of it, so had to apologise and explain. I'm normally very mild mannered and I'm quite a private person. I think my vitriol did shock him a bit 🤣

On the plus side,we weren't that close/communicative before but after that,he did everything possible to be discreetly support me including paid time off for court, flexible hours with my spawn etc.

Twas never,ever mentioned again 😁

Group message to arrange the end-of-year contribution pot for the teacher has just begun and I am so tempted to write "get a load of these cunts" after reading this thread

Someone I know posted a video with a dildo shoved up her fanny. Was meant for someone she was messaging on Snapchat. Ended up on her story and she fell asleep.

she woke up and removed it at 11am the next day..

It’s a long time since I’ve truly laughed out loud after reading something online but this has done the trick😂😂🤣

Mugsey62 · 27/06/2025 18:06

A friend (honestly) sent a DP to a whatsapp group that weren't the kind of people who would have been expecting DPs from anyone. Took a long time for people to let him live it down.

Cosyreader1 · 27/06/2025 18:06

Once did it on a work group chat. My cousin was my manager at the time and I'd covered her shift, messaged her after to say how much she'd shafted me because it was such a nightmare (largely due to a couple of people who I was working with who were known for being a nightmare) but accidently put it on the team chat. Can't remember the exact wording but my meaning was all very obvious. In a panic I pressed delete but for me not all and then couldn't figure out how to remove it 🙃

tommyhoundmum · 27/06/2025 18:08

Needing a word with a colleague about a junior staff member and having nowhere to meet I texted her

Hi Jayne, Need to speak. Can we meet in the lavs?

I sent it to a senior boss with a similar name. He was very angry, took a photcopy and pinned it on the wall for his boss to see. She was just non plussed. The whole point, which he missed, was there was nowhere for a private conversation in the whole place.

jaggededger · 26/06/2025 16:18

lol, I think that beats a “cross message” 😂

This made me laugh out loud

YiayiaP · 27/06/2025 18:11

Pah! Mortifying is groping your husband’s bum from behind and telling him what you want to do to him later… only for it to actually turn out to be his dad!!! Couldn’t delete that! Not quite the same but hope that makes you feel a bit better, OP x

Rednotdead · 27/06/2025 18:15

Oh yes, sent one supposedly to my cousin moaning about my sister, to my sister. Sister was very frosty towards me the next time we met, and she has a long memory.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 27/06/2025 18:15

autumncrisp · 26/06/2025 18:51

I once seen an awful picture on the Facebook group "rate my plate".
I never reply on those but it really was disgusting looking. And anyone who knows the group will understand that much of the time people purposely post awful photos for the banter.

I cant remember the exact wording but I said something like "you must really hate your family to serve them something that looks like it's been shit out"

Only it wasn't Rate my plate. It was my local slimmingworld group page.I'd misread and posted that in reply to a members photo of her actual dinner.

I only realised once the leader inboxed me and said I'd really upset one of her members and she had to delete the post.

I never went back there again. Absolutely fucking mortified. 🙈

This is the funniest thing I've ever read on here, and I've been around for years! That is so perfectly awful 🤣

Before the days when DH and I were married and lived together I sent a message that was supposed to go to my husband to my boss (who I wasn’t at all very close to) by mistake. I think my DH had asked what I was up to and so my text said

‘I’m sat in bed eating raisins and watching Emmerdale’.

I didn’t even realise my mistake until my boss replied ‘erm ok??’.

Such a random thing for your boss to receive, I literally laughed out loud 😂

GoodGollyMissDolly · 27/06/2025 18:34
