My husband did the good old knocked his camera on while naked on a teams call 😆😆
He was lying in bed on his side, in a panic he couldn't work out how to turn it off and threw his laptop across to room. He didn't live it down for months.

This is why the camera on my laptop has a bit of sticky tape over it!

I once sent an email intended for my daughter to my then boss - the first 2 letters of their names were the same and autofill did the rest. It was nothing to personal, but embarrassing all the same

Someone I know posted a video with a dildo shoved up her fanny. Was meant for someone she was messaging on Snapchat. Ended up on her story and she fell asleep.

she woke up and removed it at 11am the next day..

Before the days when DH and I were married and lived together I sent a message that was supposed to go to my husband to my boss (who I wasn’t at all very close to) by mistake. I think my DH had asked what I was up to and so my text said

‘I’m sat in bed eating raisins and watching Emmerdale’.

I didn’t even realise my mistake until my boss replied ‘erm ok??’.

That’s quite wholesome 😂😂

Slippylittlesuckers · 27/06/2025 19:12

When DD was in Primary school, I received a message from her new teacher (who hadn’t started yet) on the school communication system , which said ‘Hi, I’m Mr xxxxx and I’ll soon be your child’s teacher, I can’t wait to start blah blah, general introductions.’

All fine and Dandy.
Until I picked up my phone and saw a sent message back. The sent message wasn’t from me, it was from my DD age 9 who said ‘I really can’t wait to meet you Mr xxxxx I am soooo excited, we’re going to have so much fun.’
needless to say, the new teacher Mr xxxxx assumed I was a fruit loop parent and he proceeded to avoid or run away from me for the full year.
The message back also had a photo of me and a smiley face on it as I’d stupidly added a photo of me when I set up the darn thing.
Five years on I’m still cringeing……

Had a real estate agent email her colleague about what a Pain in the a..I was but she included me in the email. She stated that she had better things to do than show me multiple houses if I wasn't going to list with her.
I forwarded the email to the Corporation and bought a home 2X as expensive as what she was showing me.

I interviewed a guy once and got a WhatsApp just afterwards saying.

"Nailed it. Man boss, he knew quickly I was the man. Lady boss was like putty in my hands 💪💪💪"

We thought he was an insufferable twat but it did give us a laugh!!

Did he, in fact, nail it and get the job? If not, was it because of the text? 🤣

DraigCymraeg · 27/06/2025 19:37

This is why we should actually speak to each other. No wonder people can no longer communicate in real life.

Many years ago I was dealing with a friend (Clare) who was very toxic/intense, had loads of problems, was calling me all hours/texting constantly (then would have a go at me if I didn't reply straight away), threatening suicide all the time, SS involved with kids etc, you get the picture....

My mum was very concerned about me as she could see the effect this was having on me (especially as I had a newborn & 3 year old). My anxiety was through the roof.

So I put together a text for my mum saying "Thanks mum, Clare is absolutely draining me, I just can't cope with her anymore, she's making me ill. I have decided to gradually cut contact with her"

Problem was in my emotional state, I sent the text to Clare by mistake!

Only realised what I had done when an irate Clare called me 5 minutes full of abuse :-(

Oh no! Sounds like it did you a favour then...she sounds very draining.

Not as bad as some of these, but sent a detailed shopping list to my boss's teenage son once, specifying "the good cheese, not that shit one you always buy".

🤣

SoMuchBadAdvice · 27/06/2025 20:23

A number of years ago, the Secretary of a Sports Club that I was a member of was involved in a Machiavellian Plot to remove the Chairman and "the other old Dinosaurs on the Committee". The plot message was intended to go to the co-conspirators alone; however, she managed to copy the entire club membership into the secret message.

My husband tried to send me a dick pic during some flirting… he accidentally sent it to his sister! Worst thing was she initially thought it must be some sort of funny magic eye pic, so invited her husband over to study it with her and try and figure it out BlushConfused

First rule of WhatsApp is never, ever, ever text about someone because it is guaranteed you will send the message to them.

It is a psychological phenomenon. You're thinking about them so your digit goes to their face. It's called something like emotional impulsiveness - in the moment of being cross or whatever else (ahem), your rational thought goes out of the window. You've all be warned!!!!

DungareesTrombonesDinos · 27/06/2025 20:41

Dropped teenage DD off at school and she was an absolute cow bag all morning. Got out of my car and slammed the door so hard the car nearly fell apart. I drove to work fuming and realised later on that I'd not thought about how she was getting home from school so messaged DH and said:

Is bitch face back?

And DD messaged back

Was that meant for me?

😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳

GrannyHelen1 · 27/06/2025 20:42

I once sent a message savagely criticising my feckless youngest son to ... my youngest son instead of his older brother for whom it was intended. I still cringe when I think of it. Lesson learned, and I've never complained about any of them to each other since.

Did he get the job?

Not as hilarious a question as it seems. I read on LinkedIn recently that a candidate was amazing in the online interviews, then couldn't string a sentence in person, and they gave him the job. Of course he'd been using AI - of course he had. It doesn't work when you're on your own. I thought the recruiter was much more of a dick than the candidate for making the offer, even without knowing about the AI assistance.

what did her husband say?

After about half an hour, he wondered why I hadn’t responded, went back on WhatsApp, realised his mistake (with great horror) and deleted and sent a load of messages saying don’t look at that - obviously they then both twigged what had happened and also recoiled in horror! We refer to it as “the incident” and it is never to be discussed 🤣🤣🤣

I’ve just spent the last 15 mins crying with laughter. Thank you Mumsnet 🙏

Me too - I wish I could think of one of my own to add but I can't, but another vote for 'thank you Mumsnet'!😂

DoYouReally · 27/06/2025 20:52

@DaxieTaxi @SassyTraybake no he didn't get the job. Text was irrelevant, I don't remember much other than he was an absolute spoofer.
