Ella I had a big basket of cables, cords, and mystery tech accessories up to this time last year, when I emptied it all out, hoovered up the dust, and realised nobody had used anything from the basket for a decade. I saved a few items I recognised and took the rest to the alley, where the scrap metal woman scooped it all up. The basket now holds family photos.
I stuffed steel wool (to keep mice away) into the holes in two walls that were left when I yanked the cable cord out. Someone clearly had cable service in one of the bedrooms many years ago.
I touched up the paint on the woodwork yesterday afternoon, and dabbed paint into the tiny holes made by the staples that had attached the cable cord to the woodwork.
Today I went out to Mass (my parish has one on the Fourth of July and also on Thanksgiving on top of regular daily mass and Sundays and holy days). The opening hymn was set to the tune of Finlandia, and today's gospel was the always topical Beatitudes - particularly topical these days. Most of the congregation opted for blue attire.
Got home in a downpour and dodged / hopped out and moved orange traffic cones to return to my parking spot - the local parade route runs past the front of my building so they block off all the streets leading to the route two blocks east and west.
The parade was undoubtedly what George Washington would have envisioned 249 years ago ; ) - local State Senate representative and Congressional member (both Democrats), high school drum corps (they are excellent), boy and girl scout troops, high school drill team, local clubs including vintage and antique car enthusiasts, local gay and lesbian + alliance, various local service organisations, emergency services, Friends of the local libraries marching with a big banner advertising the upcoming sale and tossing rolled up tote bags into the soaked crowd and more, plenty of floats. There was a big turnout despite the rain. I went down to the big front porch to take a few photos and found two families I didn't know sheltering there and enjoying breakfast picnics. One had a box of bakery donuts and one had home made blueberry muffins, which they shared. Delcious!
havoc glad the cut has healed. It's possible the scar won't be too noticeable as time goes on.
