I have been sitting in my friends garden for a few days but there is a ninja pigeon that dive bombs me ! I try not to take it personally (much) as my friend no longer feeds the birds because it attracts rodents and as the flat above her has builders in it makes sense!

However, today feels personal. I saw a little dark thing land on my library book. It did not fall out the book and smeared when I tried to move it!

Umanresources · 29/06/2025 19:52

I forgot to give my big news, I was so taken with the coriander and asparagus pee chat 😂

Yesterday my daughter completed a 25 km run in the Peak District (with some of her colleagues) in aid of a Mental Health Charity, MIND. They are all Mental Health workers and this is the first time they have joined her, she’s been doing it on her own for five years. So proud of her, and the money they raised is so important.

She and another couple of friends stayed for the weekend in a cottage in the village of Eyam. Eyam's main claim to fame is the story of how the village chose to go into isolation so as to prevent infection spreading after bubonic plague was discovered there in 1665. There is a children’s book called The Naming of William Rutherford, about Eyam and I remember reading it and being very moved by it.

Miss those cherries look absolutely delicious. Along with peaches, cherries are my favourite fruit.

i got some of my discount Dragon groceries and household items, included this time were 2 Bailey’s flavoured squirty cream for 1p each and a free family size bag of M and Ms, which will be handy for treats for the boys. The cream is gorgeous on hot chocolate, on cake, on its own or potatoes, well maybe not on those, but it is delicious!

MyrtleLion · 29/06/2025 22:48

Eyam is lovely. I used to live nearby so went a few times. I loved the Tram Museum near there, too.

It's a perfect and gorgeous summer Sunday here in YVR. It's about 25c and sunny with a breeze. 😎
Spent the afternoon with the kids at Stanley Park at the kids spray park. Had the requisite burger and fries plus a hot dog and a Canada Dry ginger ale (between all 3 of us). The burger was very good quality which was a bit of a surprise. 😛

Planning lamb chops for dinner. Had chicken pie last night. Didn't go over well with Havoc as I found out when I felt something warm on the back of my leg only to turn around and see Havoc vomiting up dinner. 🤮Luckily, it was in the kitchen. 🍀
When your 3 year old says they don't like something, believe them. Don't bribe them with cake if they "just eat half." 🤦‍♀️

Miss, what happened to ZZtopguitarsolo, do you know who I mean?

I love coriander (but I call it cilantro). Also cinnamon, and asparagus (which definitely has an effect).

I have the coming week off for the Fourth of July, and will be doing some cat sitting for a friend. We haven't turned off the AC for a week but I'm hoping to be able to open the windows on Monday evening.

The local library sale is coming up - it's the civic highlight of the year as far as I'm concerned. Everything is under $2 and there are thousands of books to choose from, both donated and from the stocks of the local libraries.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/06/2025 06:43

Math, how much damage does AC do to your electic bill?
Cilantro, here, too.

Had chores to do in the high street before my hair appointment.

Got the sorted quite quickly!

Now sitting in the pub next door to the hairdressers....as it has the most amazing AC !!

Syching myself up for sitting in the hairdressers soon !!
🥵🥵

bizzey · 30/06/2025 13:48

Catching a bit of Tennis 🎾 🎾!

MissConductUS · 30/06/2025 14:55

Bizzey, how's the new phone doing? I just check the weather in the UK - sorry it's still so hot.

Math, we've been turning ours off overnight, but it's been on during the day all week too.

I have my first zinnia flower blooming. I picked up a pot of cherry tomatoes at the nursery after DH told me that they had all of their potted vegetables on offer for 50% off. It was $15 marked down to $7.50. If you look carefully, you can see some green tomatoes on the vines. Our orange boy loves the heat up to a point, so he's out on the deck in the early evening.

Good question. I haven't seen her anywhere on MN in ages. I've just PM'd her to see how she's doing.

bizzey · 30/06/2025 15:47

Sitting in front of this hairdressers mirror has made me realize...I need to put some tanning drops or something into my moisturizer !!

All very well being sun /skin safety and stuff ...
But in my top tod day ,,, I look like a flipping vampire 🦇.
I am so pale ..😁😁!

bizzey · 30/06/2025 15:53

@MissConductUS ...I am still using both phones 😅😅 !

But I am getting use to the new one .

I am still amazed at the battery life !

A whole day 😅😅..

Old phone wouldn't even manage an hour !

bizzey · 30/06/2025 15:57

Back is starting to play me up here .

I have moved to the comfy settee while the color takes .

bizzey · 30/06/2025 15:59

My little hand held fan has been a life saver !

This morning I found a suspiciously canine-looking turd on the back lawn. It wouldn’t have been either of my cats and none of the near neighbours have a dog capable of jumping my fences, so I can only think it was a fox. So, I spent a pleasant half hour or so googling images of wild animal poo. I’m still none the wiser. It’s either a fox with a very atypical diet, or an unusually athletic Jack Russell. I’m going to tackle a pile of ironing and consider my next move.

MissConductUS · 30/06/2025 17:58

Welcome, @ACatAsleepInYourHat, and thanks for sharing your fecal sleuthing news. Your fence does make it a bit of a locked room mystery. For your next move, I'd setup a Ring camera or similar on your back lawn. I get so much wildlife on mine that it's fairly routine at this point.

I also have cats (see pictures above), but they are indoor only due to the presence of coyotes in our area. Fortunately, they seem satisfied by venturing out onto our second story deck, which doubles as a catio.

I'm just supping my latte so looked up this:

So, I suspect I had food poisoning last night.
D and nausea for a few hours then began vomiting. After about a litre of vomit I began feeling better.
(I know because I vomited into and filled a 1.4l bowl while D). 😭
It was so bad I was considering going to hospital.
I am fairly confident tartar sauce at the food concession was the culprit. I made a report to public health last night and received a phone call from them about an hour ago.

OP posts:
MissConductUS · 30/06/2025 18:40

Havoc, I think you're right. Tartar sauce is mayonnaise based, making it a perfect breeding ground for bacteria if it's not kept cold continuously. Whenever I made packed lunches for the kids, anything with mayo in it was off the menu for just this reason.

Usernamenope · 30/06/2025 18:42

Had double lunch today. It's becoming a thing. I'm not ashamed.

We do a small half birthday celebration too. 🙂

HildaTablet · 30/06/2025 18:44

Oh havoc, that’s not fun ☹️ Hope you’re feeling a bit brighter now. Makes me think of my infamous experience of a lovely birthday meal at a nice expensive restaurant next to the Globe Theatre in London, followed by a trip to see some Shakespeare. Let’s just say I didn’t see much of the play….

Oh, no! always at the worst possible times. 😭
I had norovirus in Las Vegas twice. Once while there for Christmas staying in a gorgeous room overlooking the fountains 😢 and another there to celebrate my mum's birthday. Stuck in the room three days with D&V both times. Awful.

Did you manage a way to make up for your ruined outing?

OP posts:
HildaTablet · 30/06/2025 19:05

No, not really! Anyway, hope you’re on the mend now (and environmental health are taking a hard look at that tartare sauce)

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/06/2025 19:19

Yes, feeling fine now! 😊

Looks like another warm day here so debating best outing for today for dc.
