Do you know where your passport is right now

Even if you do go and check. Kids break up soon and you don’t want a last minute panic.

I had a middle of the night panic about the dates on my ds passport and feel better for checking

Yes it’s in my handbag where it always is…I’m ready to run at a moment’s notice 🤣🤣

RosesAndHellebores · 18/06/2025 07:06

Yes, of course.

hellopeople123456 · 18/06/2025 07:08

Always I am asked for I.D all the time. I couldn’t by 3 plus calpol once with my first child in tow. Luckily some kind woman took it from me, paid for it and gave it to me outside the shop. She also refused to take any money from me.

legyeleven · 18/06/2025 07:09

Every year we have threads where people have lost them or they have expired.

always worth a check

BeamMeUpCountMeIn · 18/06/2025 07:09

Yes. And I know when they expire.
We don't even go on holidays but I keep them up to date. The kids needed them once for a school holiday.

Yorkshiremum80 · 18/06/2025 07:11

Yep locked in the safe and we have copies of the page with the photo on in Dropbox so we can look at that to check dates which we also have in the calendar for 6 months before expiry 🤣

Ruelzdontapplyhere · 18/06/2025 07:11

Yes I do but I can't travel with it cause it ready to run out and I've not found anyone to sign the damn photo yet.

BendingSpoons · 18/06/2025 07:12

Yes, I know when they expire too, although when we had a trip booked, I checked the expiry date about once a month just in case! (Mine is coming to the end of it's 10 years so has added time on it, so I kept double checking the issue date).

No holiday for us this summer, so no need to check! Although I do need to remember to renew 2 of them in the winter.

Newgolddream70 · 18/06/2025 07:19

It’s in the second drawer down. I think ….. 🤔

Radiatorvalves · 18/06/2025 07:36

In my rucksack ready to go… off this afternoon for a few days!

Seriously it’s a good call though. My UK passport expires in September (and I can’t use it for much travel at the mo); I’m travelling today on my lovely EU passport that has years to go.

TheNightingalesStarling · 18/06/2025 07:40

Despite being 99% sure, we checked the expiration dates when we booked a holiday a few months ago. (On mine and DDs, DH uses his regularly for work)

TheCurious0range · 18/06/2025 07:42

In the important documents concertina folder thing, in the bottom drawer, in the section marked birth certificates and passports in a passport holder. Surely if you're organised you don't need to check in a panic?

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 18/06/2025 07:44

Yes all 3 in my bedside top drawer. Mine and dd1s out of date so need to get replaced before holiday. Dh’s is newer so his is ok. Dd2 needs a passport too. Will try get it all sorted today thanks for reminding me 😀

Seamoss · 18/06/2025 07:44

That's a decent sized assumption that everyone can afford a holiday (abroad or not)

EBearhug · 18/06/2025 07:46

Yes. I used it yesterday for ID. It will need changing next year.

feelingbleh · 18/06/2025 07:47

No i don't and now im also panicking where my birth certificate is, so thanks for that its really what I wanted to be doing first thing in the morning 🙈🤣🤣

ButteredRadishes · 18/06/2025 07:47

Yes, expiry dates are May 29, Jun 29 and August 27

Well obviously this post isn't aimed at them and would just scroll on, just like I wouldn't click on a thread about private schools, or nursing degrees

Really isn’t! Lots of people will be going abroad this year. If you are not then scroll past

I didn't think it was obvious actually. From the content commonly on mumsnet, I first wondered if it was a 'do you have your ducks in a row to flee your DH' thread.

It could also be a warning around a controling partner stealing your documents, or identity theft. Or given the state of things in the US at the moment something about being able to prove you're not an immigrant in your own country to avoid having your head shaved and being disappeared.

WorriedMillie · 18/06/2025 08:04

Ours live in my bedside drawer. I am the keeper of the passports in our family and if OH needs his, I get him to hand it back when he’s finished with it, as he has form for losing his passport!

Really is though!
Lots of people will be going abroad this year. Lots of people will not be. "Lots of people" isn't the same as "everyone".

rosemarble · 18/06/2025 08:14

Mine is either in a plastic wallet in the pile of stuff/admin next to the coffee machine or in the top of the bureau with DS2’s.
Mine expires next year and DS2’s 2027
I know DS1 knows where his is as he’s in the midst of planning big travels, postponed from covid times.

Looking for problems eh!

if you aren’t going abroad this year please ignore my thread

if You are then maybe double check your passport

And for goodness sake don’t start a lighthearted “helpful” thread. :)

But surely after reading the first sentence you realise its not so move on and carry on with your day
