Labour in third place? That's new. And More in Common too, which usually favours Labour.

It is very bad, Labour needs to bloody get its act together. Not new, though sadly.Same happened recently, I think end of March More in Common poll had Labour third.

I am considering a move to Scotland.

Labour are really misunderstanding how much they’re alienating people.

Even PMQs is bad for them but they won’t know why.

So this is where you all hang out! Late to the party as usual.
Am trying to be fair and neutral about this lot (as I spend plenty of time slagging those who can't see anything bad about Labour at all!) but the one thing I am really struggling with is the constant referencing back to the last Government. Obvs I expected it at first, but we are nearly a year in now, and it's not abating. I personally found RR's financial statement last week more or less unlistenable. Although I was interested in what she had to say, I found the constant hectoring 'unlike the last Government' rhetoric just too much.
I am sure this has been covered in the past four threads, but had to get it off my chest.

Upstartled · 18/06/2025 14:25

I share your frustration.

Food inflation up 4.4%, which I expect is a surprise to no one who gets the shopping in.

EasternStandard · 18/06/2025 14:40

Welcome @Katyppglad you found us. Yes it’s unlistenable and ridiculous to rely on that this far on.

Katypp · 18/06/2025 14:48

I think ir's fair to say that Labour are not finding things as easy as they thought they would once they won power.
I wonder if it ever occurred to them in their many calls to smash the gangs or tax Amazon that the Tories would have done just that if it was that easy to do?
Shame they have spent the last 14 years telling what they would do and have done none of it when in power. I wonder why?

Upstartled · 18/06/2025 14:52

They spent the year or so previous to the last g.e. offering very little to the subject of what they would do in power and managed to convince their supports that they had lots of ideas to fix everything but didn't want to say it out loud in case the Tories nicked their ideas. 🤣🤣🤣

Considering a move to Scotland?

Are you a woman? If so don’t..

Do you have school age children? If so, don’t!

They are in a terrible state. That’s what SNP did for them. Very similar to the LP, except thankfully our Rishi at least (before the incompetents took over), told them to fck off with their gender woo insanity.

The schools - mgt of bad behaviour is non existent.much worse than here, if you can believe it.

TheNuthatch · 18/06/2025 15:25

@EasternStandard thanks for your assessment of pmqs. I was laughing reading your three posts. I'm impressed that you endured a full 3 minutes 😂. Sorry, I couldn't watch it today, too many plates spinning so thanks for taking one for the team. I hope Philp did OK.
That poll putting labour in third 😱 and that's before the welfare cuts.

@Katypp welcome, great to have you on the thread. Welcome also @Absentmindedsmile. Scotland sounds great! Sign me up (not).

Good point.
It’s like posters on mn who say Amazon should be properly taxed. Do they not think that has never crossed the government’s mind and obviously if it was possible they would do so.

Yep.
See also 'tax the rich/non doms'. Then they scratch their heads in confusion when 'the rich' leave.
It doesn't seem to stop labour spouting the same nonsense, even though their three word slogans haven't survived contact with reality.

That was so predictable and easy to see. On nom doms and smash the gangs.

Plus the NI stuff

Do how did Starmer not know this? And Reeves, all of them really.

TheNuthatch · 18/06/2025 15:48

More bad numbers. Over 400 crossed the channel yesterday, so (if my very quick maths is correct) the weekly total is 2222.
Smash the gangs indeed.

I think Yvette Cooper thought that as long as she looked worried enough, it would all fall into place 😂

Ha. Or if Starmer said strongly enough I’ve been in meetings about other stuff I can smash the gangs.

People believed him too, on here pre GE.

TeenagersAngst · 18/06/2025 16:06

On @Katypp point about 'we inherited a dismal picture from the last govt' - totally agree,

I heard a treasury bod on the news earlier saying how the inflation figures for May were better than the double digits under the last govt - he forgot to say that when the Tories left office, inflation was at 2%. Talk about spin and bollox.

Parsley1234 · 18/06/2025 16:08

Wd anyone believe anything that they said
cooper permanently worried look
reeves permanently arrogant look
Rayner permanently I can’t believe this look
Phillipson permanently psychotic look
lammy permanently I’m out of my depth look but I’ll wing it look
Starmer permanently absent look

Upstartled · 18/06/2025 16:17

Worried Labour, Arrogant Labour, Incredulous Labour, psychotic Labour, AWOL Labour. Like a Spice Girls line up. A zigga, zig ahhhh.

EasternStandard · 18/06/2025 16:22

Haha

'We're disappointed' or is it ‘it’s disappointing’

Look as below

Obsess about what last gov did

On repeat

MichaelandKirk · 18/06/2025 16:27

They are truly awful. The u turns are ridicilous. I actually do think whatever government is in place needs to do something about the welfare bill which is out of control.

I saw a BBC piece the other day filiming on the beaches of France. It was disgraceful and there were hoards of young men pushing onto the boats and shoving women and children out of the way. Some people had tried a number of times and they were confident they would get here in the end.

Labour have no idea what they are doing and are in probably an echo chamber after various interviews where they pat each other on the back.

Bring on the next election.

TeenagersAngst · 18/06/2025 17:01

Is it bigoted to not believe that the majority of boat crossers are asylum seekers as one Labour pundit said on a podcast I listened to recently?

Can't seem to keep up with what are bigoted views, and what aren't.

EasternStandard · 18/06/2025 17:24

I think Labour’s reliance on calling everything and everyone far right and bigoted is crumbling post grooming gang u turn

Who knows. I can't keep up with the names and labels anymore. I'm a far-right bandwagon jumper apparently who belongs in the same column as Russia, Iran and China. I might get a t-shirt printed. Grin

According to Darren Jones on question time, most of the boat arrivals are women and children.
