Oh, Parsley, it seems the walls already have eyes. There's very little about those arsonists now, is there?

Upstartled · 17/06/2025 14:59

Here's Phillipson, not ruling out scrapping echr provision for children out of a special school setting.

If it is coming down the pipeline it is unconscionable and if it isn't, not being clear about it and making parents needlessly worried, is unconscionable.

Phillipson does not rule out restricting EHCPs to special schools

Education ministers questioned on SEND reforms, teacher recruitment and screen time in schools today

@Parsley1234 Flowers I didn't see your post, but we obviously have lurkers and haters with nothing better to do than read a thread that they don't like, desperate for a post they can report. Saddos. You should see some of the DMs I get since I started these threads.
From Upstartled's post, I think I know what you were writing about. Just say arsonists, we know what you mean.

@Upstartled thanks for the link. What have they got against these children? I don't know how they sleep at night.

Re DMs I hope not abusive ones!

Upstartled · 17/06/2025 16:11

It's completely uncivilised to be dm-ing you to give you grief and so cowardly too.

Not abusive (yet).

That’s good. I think some forget not everyone is as pro Starmer / Labour as some on mn.

We’re hardly out there in comparison to general views. Looks like we’ll be left alone (bar deletion watchers) from now on, hopefully.

caringcarer · 17/06/2025 16:36

I don't think Starmer will last long now. First the U turn on WFA now an almighty U turn on grooming and rape gangs. Labour were dead set against that independent review. They knew it would reveal Labour MP's were buying votes. Now I hope it all comes out and Nandy loses her job alongside Starmer.

TheNuthatch · 17/06/2025 16:47

I nearly forgot! Today's YouGov voting intention poll:

Reform - 27
Labour - 24
Con - 17
LD - 15
Gr - 10

Voters 65 and over, 14% for Labour. This has not changed since the WFA u turn was announced.

Labour has lost its majority in a council in Cheshire after two councillors decided to leave the party. Cheshire West and Chester councillors said they felt Labour was a party "they did not recognise anymore'.

The Justice Secretary is not happy with the abortion amendments in parliament today. She is not in the Hoc, but has said "its hard to see these measures as anything but extreme. I can unequivocally state that I would have voted against both amendments were I able to be there, and I will vote against them given the opportunity in the future".

And Phillips and Powell too. Special shout out for Naz Shah who forwarded a tweet saying

“Those abused girls in Rotherham and elsewhere just need to shut their mouths. For the good of diversity.”

Parsley1234 · 17/06/2025 16:51

@upstartled who said that ?

Upstartled · 17/06/2025 16:54

Naz Shah, Labour MP for Bradford since 2015

Yes, Labour hasn't seen a jump despite the wfa u-turn, interesting that it didn't even see a boost in the category of those most likely to benefit. Fool me once...

Upstartled · 17/06/2025 17:08

I don't know enough about the abortion amendments. It feels like there's a lot of changes being pushed through at once.

Yeah I know what you mean. I know it's a controversial subject with strong opinions on all sides.
However I quite like Mahmood. She spoke out against assisted dying, and she has spoken out against aspects of the ECHR too. It's refreshing that she doesn't always behave like a labour clone. Just my tuppence worth :-)

OP posts:
Upstartled · 17/06/2025 17:35

That's the thing. I expect it is yet another thing that looks good in the headlines - let's not criminalise abortions, that sounds good in the first instance and then less so as the reems of unintended consequences rolls out as nice idea hits reality. Like decriminalising homelessness or euthanasia.

But, like I say, I don't know.

Upstartled · 17/06/2025 17:44

Another u-turn incoming.

Reform slowly losing ground with each poll. Good to see.

Lab: 24% (+1)
Con: 17% (=)
Lib Dem: 15% (=)

Pre GE talking about this the usual Labour backlash.

A year later and here we are. It’s slow realisation.

Upstartled · 17/06/2025 17:53

Yes, let's hope the lead can hold out for a bit longer to frogmarch Starmer and co. away from all their batshit decisions, hey Pluto? The uturns are coming thick and fast now, athough they are hellbent on some cruelty.

Parsley1234 · 17/06/2025 17:54

@upstartled thank you
no non doms are coming back no way Labour are absolute cretins they’ve fucked this country no matter how many stupid u turns they do

EasternStandard · 17/06/2025 17:57

Speaking of, the channel is looking dicey. Not much on mn but it’s kicking off with tear gas on beaches.

Not sure how it’s allowed but looks like smash the gangs is going rogue

TheNuthatch · 17/06/2025 18:00

Polling for the Welsh election. Reform ahead.
