What’s your first world problem today?

I need to read some other people’s first world problems so I feel better about myself 🤣

Mine is that this is the first year in 12 years we haven’t been able to afford to go on our yearly few nights away. We usually do 4 nights in Cornwall, we’ve gone at least once a year since I was a child and now I’ve carried it on for my own kids; but the rise in prices in bills, childcare and food has left us pretty breadline now and we just cannot afford to go away. I know how it sounds too, it’s soooo trivial and ‘woe is me’ but I can’t help but feel sad.. no holiday for us! 🤣

so please tell me your trivial issues today!

My cat has brought a huge ( now dead) pigeon into the kitchen .. half the feathers are all over the floor.. I've just shut the door.. come up to lay on the bed with the fan on.. listening to The Cure.
I'll work up the courage to scoop it up soon.

Disintegration?

I just baked some cheese scones. Followed the recipe closely.
They haven't risen and they're not cheesy enough.

I forgot to take the wash out of washing machine when it was sunny earlier - it now smells and it’s also raining lightly, thunderstorm in the air.

Hang your washing out in the rain, it gets rid of that musty smell. Stick it back in the wash tomorrow.

Went to a gin festival three years ago and sampled a delicious white choc and raspberry gin, then spent £30 on a bottle. Forgot ALL about it and found it today and it has no sell by date on it but looking through the glass it looks all curdled and unpleasant, so had to throw it away. I know I’d forgotten about it, but now that I’ve remembered how delicious my sample was, I feel devastated.

CatteryCatz · 14/06/2025 19:44

The shop didn’t have any Ace for whites in stock this afternoon.

Lindajonesjustcantlivemylife · 14/06/2025 20:17

I've ran out of sweets.

RememberG · 18/07/2025 15:49

Oh op I hear you! You feel almost embarrassed to complain about “no holiday” when so much hardship in the world.

but we can’t all measure our quality of life again the lowest common denominator can we?!

Did you manage to get away at all this year?

Gardeninrags · 18/07/2025 15:53

I’m hungry but I’m too lazy to get off the sofa to microwave something to eat

mugglewump · 18/07/2025 15:54

Since energy prices sky-rocketed, we can no longer afford to run our hot tub. It sits forlornly on the patio, empty and wrapped in clingfilm.

Soonenough · 18/07/2025 15:58

I am going from room to room lying on all the beds so I feel I am not being lazy.

Tanktanktank · 18/07/2025 17:04

My favourite fabric shop in the town my DD lives close to is closing down in a week. I’ve been in twice and stocked up on a few things. Sad because it has randomly good stuff I can’t get in my local fabrics shop.

When I buy prepared fruit some of it is inedible. Pineapple core, unripe melon, hard chunks of mango.

Nearlyadoctor · 19/07/2025 06:48

Whether or not to buy a new sofa. The one we’ve got is only 4 years old and was an expensive Parker Knoll but DH has never liked it, and yesterday in DFS found one he really likes. I’ve always been a bit bit judgy of people changing sofas before they’re worn out 🙄

TitanicWasAGreatMovie · 19/07/2025 07:52

My mum is coming to stay for a few days, I need to tidy up the spare room and make the bed in there this morning.

Sulking · 22/07/2025 09:54

my First world problem today is that I ran out of my fresh coffee beans, used some I had in a jar and they’re definitely stale and just don’t taste nice and nowhere local sells fresh coffee beans so I’m quite upset 😅

Decided to splurge on a wooden Wentworth jigsaw puzzle and I don't like a single one of the designs. Grumpy now.

MostArdently · 22/07/2025 10:16

I went to Oasis on Sunday night, got back late and I’m still exhausted and I still ache from all the standing and dancing.

buswankerbabe · 22/07/2025 10:46

I stripped our bed for washing this morning. I now want a nap in an air conditioned room but the mattress protector is a bit scratchy and is making my nap less lovely.

Mistyglade · 22/07/2025 11:17

DS and I can’t watch the final of NZ traitors tonight as he’s at his dad’s. :-/

Tanktanktank · 22/07/2025 18:52

I did a new recipe for dinner tonight and I thought it called for a lot of pepper, oh boy, I’d do it again and halved it.

I did a mixed-coloured wash today.
My flesh coloured bras & pants have turned mucky because my new M&S navy blue cotton knickers have shed dye.
Tiny print says "wash similar colours together".
Surely in 2025 cotton can be colour-fast?
And M&S can print warnings in large print on the outside of packages ?

You need Dyson Colour Catchers. They work brilliantly!

My kitten is preventing me from scrolling MN by demanding strokes and cuddles and looking super cute.

In fact, we have four kittens but I only have two hands so that's a perennial problem which I am delighted to have.

Treated myself to a fancy lampshade £££.
Didn't go with the room decor, so sent it back.
Got an email saying they'll do store credit as I'd taken it out of it's plastic.

Used the store credit plus a top-up ££££ to get a cushion, lovely as it is, it doesn't suit the room. Argh!!

In the chaos of Christmas, box re-purposed to post off a Christmas gift. So now can't return as has to be in original packaging.

For a final kick, it's now on sale at 70% off!!

I'll grow to love it right? 🫣.
