What’s your first world problem today?

I need to read some other people’s first world problems so I feel better about myself 🤣

Mine is that this is the first year in 12 years we haven’t been able to afford to go on our yearly few nights away. We usually do 4 nights in Cornwall, we’ve gone at least once a year since I was a child and now I’ve carried it on for my own kids; but the rise in prices in bills, childcare and food has left us pretty breadline now and we just cannot afford to go away. I know how it sounds too, it’s soooo trivial and ‘woe is me’ but I can’t help but feel sad.. no holiday for us! 🤣

so please tell me your trivial issues today!

The rug I bought my son today is slightly too small for his room

aside from that, it’s been a cracking day.

This weather is bloody PERFECT

Niceduck · 14/06/2025 15:33

Can you not go somewhere cheaper than Cornwall? Just for the change of scenery and break?

Wolfpa · 14/06/2025 15:33

I couldn’t find any powdered Matcha earlier so have had to drink regular tea

MarySueSaidBoo · 14/06/2025 15:34

We're having our very old and rotten wooden conservatory taken down today. It was on the house we bought 30 years ago, and it's a shit space - too cold or too hot most of the time! We looked into replacing it, having one with a solid roof with velux windows in, and heating - and quotes were around £50k to £60k which we'd never get back if we moved. So now I've got a random tiled floor as a patio and a garden full of rubble that's going to take DH weeks to shift. Sigh.

Niceduck · 14/06/2025 15:35

I was on your derailed zoo thread…, what happened?!

K0OLA1D · 14/06/2025 15:35

I can't get comfy in my hammock and my sun hat is inside

BettyButterBum · 14/06/2025 15:48

Aldis Passionfruit Curd is still out of stock. I could cry.

thatsawhopperthatlemon · 14/06/2025 15:49

We go on holiday tomorrow and I need to pack, but can't be bothered to do it.

Minecroft · 14/06/2025 15:49

Due to the cost of building / the mortgage interest rates… We just cannot afford the extension we have been planning. We have planning permission and full drawings… I think last night I reached breaking point going over everything for the millionth trying to work out how we could bring the cost down, and then failing. I decided that we just won’t do it. I’m at the end of my tether with it and it will be a huge can of worms, old house.

But we have a lovely house and we can make little tweaks to make it even nicer. It doesn’t really matter, just a bit disappointing.

LapisBlue · 14/06/2025 15:51

I've lost an earring. It's gold, though. Proper gold.

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 14/06/2025 15:51

I have to wait three days for the blanket I bought to arrive. <Heavy sigh>

3beesinmybonnet · 14/06/2025 15:56

I always have an earworm. For the last couple of days it's been The Ship Song by Nick Cave with occasional bursts of O Children, plus various songs from The Boatman's Call - lovely.
I've just been shopping in Newquay (sorry @Sulking) and heard music drifting up from the harbour with a conga rhythm. I now have Ooh You Are Awful (But I Like You) Conga by Dick Emery stuck in my head. I won't link to a YouTube video in order to protect the innocent, and because I don't know how.

My cat has brought a huge ( now dead) pigeon into the kitchen .. half the feathers are all over the floor.. I've just shut the door.. come up to lay on the bed with the fan on.. listening to The Cure.
I'll work up the courage to scoop it up soon.

My grocery shop was cancelled two hours after it should have been delivered. Refund will take 3-5 days to process. Worse still, I had to go to the supermarket, which is exactly what I was trying to avoid in the first place…

Queentouba · 14/06/2025 16:05

I spent much more than I anticipated on samphire . Loose.

abnerbrownsdressinggown · 14/06/2025 16:06

I had a couple of beers in the sun at lunch and now I really can’t be arsed to get ready to go out for early dinner before the theatre.

terracelane23 · 14/06/2025 16:09

We’ve put in an offer on a house 2 days ago and the sellers haven’t made a decision whether to accept it yet.

feelingbleh · 14/06/2025 16:10

My neighbour is having a bbq and im jealous

anyolddinosaur · 14/06/2025 16:10

Went away for a couple of days and it absolutely poured down the first day, to the extent that everything in the pockets of my "waterproof" jacket were soaked through. We thought we'd go somewhere indoors and when we got there it was shut. Maybe that'll make you feel better about Cornwall. The hotel was non refundable.

YesHonestly · 14/06/2025 16:11

My usual yoga class is fully booked and I’m fifth on the waitlist.

DiscoBob · 14/06/2025 16:11

Can you not go somewhere cheaper? I don't know much about UK holidays but heard Cornwall was really expensive. Or if you've a garden set up a tent and do fake camping?

Mine is that it looks like all my Busy Lizzie plants are going to have white flowers. I was hoping for mix of pink, red and a bit of white.

Also I'm debating what new fragrance to start using. Well, not buy, ask for as a birthday gift. I have an Occitane Herbe one I love right now but want something a bit more for late summer/autumn.

cannynotsay · 14/06/2025 16:11

I’m on holiday but morning sickness is killing me so I want to go home

Hubblebubble · 14/06/2025 16:15

I've got to move all my furniture back after having a professional paint my walls a beautiful pale pink.

Is it LoveCats?

We urgently need to buy suitcases for our upcoming holiday. Went out to do that today and somehow ending up going to get the car air conditioning fixed instead - we're not even taking the car on holiday!
And we also got soaked in the rain.
