Holiday today 😃

Going on holiday today everyone is very excited . I'm shitting it at the same time though.

I need to get to Liverpool street station. My original thought is to get the bus all the way there I think it said 1hr 20 min. Or I could get a train with 2 changes which would take me about half the time. But once im on the bus I don't have to worry . So maybe I should stick to that.

As we are getting to the resort late about 10.30pm will there be any food available? Just snacks or something. We are all inclusive which includes main meals, snack s drinks

Did you have to pay a lot for it? I just worry that you make decisions and then beat yourself up for them.

I'm not beating myself up . Not thought about it since I done it 🤷‍♀️

What you are describing are definitely the down side to AI holidays. The ones that have less of those niggles do seem to be a lot more money. Most holidays have one or two niggles, it’s about making the most of the bits you do enjoy or adjusting your routine to fit. We cruise on a very busy ship so we make sure we are about 30-60 mins ahead of the crowds every day, early breakfast, first off the ship in ports, first then back on the ship (so it’s much quieter) then early dinner etc.

Yeah it was cheap for how many of us there are . I don't think the early start etc would help really. The only thing to do is the swimming pools. So they are going to be packed no matter what. It is just niggles we are enjoying it. When it gets to around 6pm the pools get alot less busy so that nice at the end of the day.

Have you left the hotel and explored the area? Is there a beach nearby?

Yeah a little there's nothing really. Just a chemisy aldi and a coupe of holiday type shops. The beach is not very nice its like this weird grit/stones it looks like sand from a distance but it's not. It looks lovely take as a picture though 😅

How about a trip to Alcazaba? A boat tour? Mojacar isn’t far away and it’s lovely there.

It seems a shame to stay in the room for half the day but if you're happy doing that then maybe go and get some drinks it brings back.

There's loads to do. I'm guessing you're in roquetas. There's the bull ring, the castle, there's a nice walk down to the harbour. You can hire bikes and go all the way to Aguadulce. There's some arcades along the sea front. If you go right you can walk up to the nature reserve. The shopping centre is ok for a trip, last time we went it was 4euro each way in a taxi. There's the little land train that goes around the town. If you go to centre of roquetas there's a play area at the beach and they do sand art. It's a lovely walk along the beach front.

@Youagain2025 A trip here will cost you roughly what you paid for the sun cream and tooth brushes the other day. My kids absolutely love a water park so I’m sure yours will too.

As you all incisive you can request the hotel makes up a pack lunch/picnic at reception if you’re worried about the cost of food out. And take plenty of bottled water from the hotel with you. The bus service in Spain is usually very good but as there are a few of you a taxi might work out about the same price as the bus. If you don’t fancy a water park look on trip advisor there are lots of things to do, different beaches with sand etc.

Hope you are all have a great time!

If you are in Roquetas as the poster above suggests here is a link to activities some are even free. There looks like there is amusements with kids rides etc possibly within walking distance entry is free and €1 an attraction. I probably interfering unnecessarily and being bossy 😀 but I just want you and the kids to have an amazing time because you all deserve it!

Things to do

fairgame84 · 14/06/2025 14:12

Oh I forgot about that water park, we loved it there. It wasn't massively expensive and it was so much fun.
Definitely get a hotel pack up if you do decide to go.

I did try and look at that this morning but it won't load. Tomorrow is our last full day . I probably won't bother to do anything outside of the resort because I will just get stressed. Even though there's not much on the resort it's still kind of nice to do nothing.

Have you had a dip in the sea @Youagain2025 ? We always find it more fun than the pool and not as crowded.

We went to the beach yesterday. But its really horrible gritty stuff and you kind of sink into it. Both ds didn't like it at all. We started out day late today and it feels chilled. Wr ga e found a nice little corner near one of the pools and just bedn dipping in and out chilling

Pic of beach from our room . It looks loverly we spent the day on the windy pool. And the boys found a bit that has small slides. Sprinklers etc.

Evening meal soon then see if the kids can make it through the evening entertainment. Well at least some 😅

Youagain2025 · 13/06/2025 20:03

We are in almeria

I think most British people tend to holiday on the Costa del Sol (eg Benalmadena, Marbella) or Costa Blanca (eg Benidorm) which are both Southern Spain, but also Costa Brava (north of Barcelona). I’ve been to Almería, not my favourite holiday but I think, like you, it was where we stayed, a bit of a nowhere place.

If you are finding the accommodation too busy, noisy, then maybe a smaller hotel would suit you another time, perhaps closer to a town where you could get about a bit. But that is probably a bit more expensive.

It looks lovely though - nice grounds with the swimming pool and a sea view is always good.

Livingthebestlife · 14/06/2025 18:33

Oh you've one day left. It only feels like you just went. In that case then just go with the flow today and tomorrow and try get to see some of the entertainment.

You've done this now and got to experience travelling abroad and I guarantee when you get home everyone will be missing it and reminiscing. You have the knowledge and experience of booking now and for your next holiday you'll know exactly what suits everyone, remember that this holiday was done quickly from change of Country etc you can take your time for the next one, most of us take months to choose somewhere.

Be proud of what you have done, lots of parents would not have done all you have out of fear of the unknown and you did and your children got to experience this too.

Did your adult Ds enjoy it?

murasaki · 14/06/2025 19:08

I can see from the photo why you'd think the beach would be sand! I hope you have a lovely evening.
