Years ago, I did a quick clean of the kitchen, just before leaving for a fortnight away. Completely forgot about the dog's bowl which was on the floor with some dog food in it. When we returned, kitchen had a weird smell, and the bowl was a seething mess of wriggling maggots!

I had my Factor 50 confiscated at the airport as it was over 100ml. £12 down the drain.

MilnersGold · 27/05/2025 21:10

I once went camping without my tent. It was 30 years ago and my friends still tease me about it!

I managed to leave 2 of our sex toys on the bedside table when the parents in law were going to be looking after our 2 DDs while DH and I went to a wedding in Suffolk ..... and the PIL were going to use our bedroom and en suite ..... when we got home they'd been left exactly where they were ...

The bottom half of the pram (I e. The bit with wheels) on a trip to Bluestone which is extremely hilly with a 2 year old who hated walking.

Turned out not to be the worst thing after all.
I left behind one of my 18 month oldDSs eczema creams, the thinner day time one. we still used the night time cream but the result was the eczema was virtually gone by the time we went home a week later. And we realised it had been mainly caused by an allergic reaction to the cream

I haven’t left anything behind, but our 2018 holiday began disastrously, due to jet2 losing my luggage. Dickhead me, was actually stupid enough to pack my glasses, spare lenses and phone charger in my lost suitcase!

Yep, I was dickhead of the year! 🙄

Ihateslugs · 27/05/2025 21:26

We once forgot to shut the back door when we went on a winter ski holiday! Just before we left to go to the airport, my ex broke a glass so went out to put it in the bin while I waited in the taxi. He then came out and locked the front door.

Luckily, two days later, his sister was using our house for an overnight stay before her ski holiday and found the open door. She had a look round, spoke to the neighbours and decided there had not been a break in so just locked it and left the house secure before leaving the next day.

My pants.

Same 😂

TattedBarley · 27/05/2025 21:30

My retainer! I’d had my braces off as a teen for about a 3 weeks before I jetted off on a lovely family holiday for 11 nights. Somehow forgot my retainer, by the time I got back my teeth had moved so much I couldn’t fit it in my mouth anymore. I still curse my younger self, my teeth looked so beautiful for those 3 weeks. I cant afford to get them straightened as an adult 🤦‍♀️

DD managed to forget any knickers other than the ones she stood up in when she did DofE.

Inside, outside, back to front and a couple of borrows from friends saw her through.

She's never repeated that one 😂

sunshineandrain82 · 27/05/2025 21:31

Currently on holiday. We forgot dp inhalers. Did remember his epi pens though.

unsync · 27/05/2025 21:32

Now exH left his luggage. It was my fault, of course.

IchBinPapst · 27/05/2025 21:37

The (paper only) tickets to a ‘They Might be Giants’ concert - DH had waited about 30 years to see them. He spent quite a lot of that evening in the bathroom. I think he was having a little cry and I don’t blame him.

Klozza · 27/05/2025 21:37

My ex forgot his epilepsy medication when we went on a weekend break away after I repeatedly reminded him to bring it, it’s one he needs to take daily. Luckily we were in the UK and managed to get 111 to get an emergency prescription sent to a local late night pharmacy to pick up 🙃

Salome61 · 27/05/2025 21:48

I'll never forget it. My husband had taken our dog out for a walk so he wouldn't be upset seeing me load the car with our luggage and the children. We had a house sitter coming about an hour after we'd left.

We got to the IOW hours later, and my husband threw himself back on the bed and said 'where's my bag'? I'd forgotten his bag with his very important tooth glue - he'd lost all of his teeth through stress and had a full set! He ran off to the the local Boots but they had just closed, and there weren't any other shops nearby. He did forgive me eventually.

Octoberfest · 27/05/2025 21:48

Forgot my tent when going camping. Was all fine for a while (a kindly person at the campside lent us their gazebo). That was until there was a huge thunderstorm and I soon learnt that gazebos are not waterproof. I can laugh about it now

Cadburymonster · 27/05/2025 21:50

Make up bag😭two weeks in tenerife when I was 19. Ended up spending 100 quid in the airport on some.

iamnotgoogle · 27/05/2025 21:53

DH forgot one each of two pairs of boots. He had one pair consisting of a smart brown ankle boot and a hiking boot for a week in rural Wales.

8 year old. Family holiday to France, completely forgot about him.

Good job he was home though as two men broke in and tried to rob the place.

You CAN’T be serious!!

Honestly some people think nothing of leaving their children Home Alone!

Not terrible, but funny. Invited to DB's for Christmas. He suggested our contribution could be cheese - excellent, easy. Went to Waitrose, lovely selection purchased, placed in fridge to be taken with us on Xmas Eve (they live 3 hours drive away). Of course, we forgot the cheese. About 20 mins away from theirs, I remembered. They're rural so not like we could pop to a Tesco Express. The only place we passed was an old fashioned petrol station/run down car garage which was closing up for the Xmas break. Their fridge was almost empty except for some of that Austrian smoked cheese in an orange plastic tube that looks like a sausage. My SIL's face when she saw what we'd bought was bad enough, but when she realised it wasn't a joke... we still laugh about it now, 10 years later.

LogicalBlodge · 27/05/2025 22:36

Unempty bin bag with left over meat for 3 days.

It's a mistake you only make once.

Revolting
Why do you not wash the dogs food bowl immediately after they have eaten?

I think it’s pretty evident she forgot about it and didn’t do it on purpose 🤔
