For me it’s
-Wasps, flies in the house, and bastardy bitey bugs.
Spent yesterday evening in the garden watering the veggies and I got bitten in 6 different places.

Wincarnis · 15/05/2025 07:23

summer clothes
Insects
the smell of barbecues

people saying “isn’t it lovely weather?”
sunburn (meds make me even more sensitive)
heat rash - yes and it’s only May
summer clothes

BeethovenNinth · 15/05/2025 07:31

I love this weather

I’m in Scotland and it’s glorious

I am exhausted trying to make the most of it

scalt · 15/05/2025 07:36

People saying "it's so hot, it must be climate change"; and the usual buzzwords that go with it: "extreme heat", "unprecedented", "hottest May/June/summer on record", "since records began", "climate emergency", etc.

the80sweregreat · 15/05/2025 07:39

I’m more concerned that we are heading for a drought. With so many extra people on one small island , we need water and lots of it.

nex18 · 15/05/2025 07:46

People moaning about it being hot.
That it doesn’t last.
Other people’s BO.

faerietales · 15/05/2025 08:04

People moaning about how hot it is when it’s only 21 degrees.

faerietales · 15/05/2025 08:05

Amethystanddiamonds · 14/05/2025 20:47

It's touching on warm surely?? Nowhere near hot. I'm currently wearing my oodie and thermal socks 😂

It was 28 degrees here on Monday - not exactly Oodie and thermals weather 🤣

The fact that summer lasts as long as it does and we're only just getting started. No cool fresh breeze around my face for several months now. I honestly can't bear it and if I was rich, I'd be jetting off to spend the next few months in Norway.

Summer really doesn't "last as long as it does" here.

Are you in the south of France?

It has cooled down significantly today.

What we do need is rain. Yorkshire Water are already talking about hosepipe bans.

polarsystem · 15/05/2025 08:09

Sweaty under boob 🤣

Yatuway · 15/05/2025 08:12

People whining at other people not liking the heat.

RampantIvy · 15/05/2025 08:12

the80sweregreat · 14/05/2025 10:34

I loath summer clothes and shoes.
Much prefer boots , jeans and raincoats
Can cover up!

You can buy flattering summer clothes that cover you up. They do exist.

MsTada · 15/05/2025 08:14

Wasps.

Having to faff about with suncream before going outside, including getting it on a reluctant 3 year old.

I look ridiculous in hats, have extremely fair skin, and the sunscreen spray for your scalp makes your hair feel greasy and rank. But without it I inevitably burn my parting and end up with a peeling, sore head for days.

Yes, the lack of rain is genuinely concerning now. Grass is turning brown, it looks like late July everywhere and it is only just mid May.
( On another thread, people who mentioned this were accused of being miseries, killjoys, etc) 🙄

WhatNoRaisins · 15/05/2025 08:16

I'm in a part of the UK where the grass usually stays green and I've really noticed how dry it is. Think it's going to rain during half term (of course) so hopefully it will recover.

RampantIvy · 15/05/2025 08:21

When I drove over to Manchester a couple of weeks ago the Longdendale reservoirs were already worryingly low.

We have already had fires on the moors ad well.

IMO sales of disposable barbecues should be banned.

RabbitsRock · 15/05/2025 08:32

At the moment it’s envy as I broke my arm so can’t go to the beach or swim in the sea. Very lucky with our neighbours - the worst we get is barking dogs as they set each other off. The ones with a pop up pool & hot tub sound like a nightmare! Hate when people burn rubbish on summer evenings & you have to close all the doors & windows.

andweallloveclover · 15/05/2025 08:38

NOTHING! I bloody love this weather.

The worst thing about it is that it won't last! 😎

Seamond · 15/05/2025 08:39

We haven't had really hot yet this year, air con machine is still tucked away but last time it was having to keep the curtains shut in the day

It's been lovely hasn't it, we also managed 10 days away in the caravan in the sunshine

It's fabulous!! We will soon be back to the miserable rain. And not knowing when we will see the sunshine like this again.

Make the most of it I say.

Another BBQ arranged for this weekend 😁

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 15/05/2025 08:45

It's too hot for my dog. He's a real stickler for routine, so not being able to go out for his mid afternoon walk really bothers him.

RampantIvy · 15/05/2025 09:47

I think it would be helpful if posters could say what part of the UK they are in. While the weather has been remarkably lovely where I am in South Yorkshire it hasn't been uncomfortably hot.

I think some people don't help themselves by wearing unsuitable clothes as well. Summer clothes don't have to be skimpy. It is perfectly possible to wear unrevealing clothes without wearing jeans and jumpers.

Lavachicken37 · 15/05/2025 09:55

I’m in Scotland.
for me it’s the love/hate relationship I have with the washing line when sun comes out.
what a shift it’s putting in at the moment. I have piles of clean clothes in the house but keep putting more washing on as I am fearful when the sun will stop 🤣

Ditto, we are barbecuing (Friday eve, Sat eve and Sunday lunchtime, just for us) and no, it won't annoy neighbours because they are not close enough, and no, we aren't near any of their washing lines.

I am loving this good spell of weather, it actually makes me happy and re-invigorated.

Why are people complaining about the heat when I am in one of the southerly hotspots in the UK today and it's still only 20. Tomorrow 22, can't wait.
