It's so incredibly rude to speak to do these aggressive smack downs - and Starmer always seems to reserve this manner for women. This is the women problem in Labour that Rosie Duffield spoke of, isn't it? Reeves clearly approves.

I'm glad others can see it too.

I find it uncomfortable to watch. Everything I hate about Starmer in one 37 second clip.

It lacks any courtesy or civility that you'd expect to see from the leader of the party who framed themselves as the grown up who are now back in charge.

I’m not sure I have the stomach for Starmer doing his usual anti women stuff. My loathing levels are probably high enough. Maybe later.

I agree with you though.

Too many noisy heat pumps.

I thought heat pumps were one of Ed Miliband’s recommendations?

British gas boss in the fray today saying that net zero, although necessary, isn't going to bring down the cost of energy and he's sick of the public being lied to about it. It doesn't ever look like we are getting Red Eds £300.

And...now we are to deport failed asylum seekers to a third country to a 'return hub'. And this is to stop these people from going on to have families in this country as a tactic to delay their departure.

It must be immigration week.

Really? Good luck to them with that. They’ll cost a fortune and be overwhelmed quickly.

Urgh, bloody politics. Can you imagine if Labour had kiboshed the Rwanda plan but then proposed this strategy instead by way of compromise?

I know this is the way of things but, fucking hell, it's like watching someone reject Pepsi because is isn't coke and spunking billions of hard earned tax receipts against the wall in the process.

It's all smoke and mirrors from a desperate and failing PM.
It won't work as a deterrent either if it's only for those who have been rejected and exhausted all other options. Most of the people who come here are eventually granted asylum, so its still worth a punt to get in a dinghy.

I read an article saying that Rwanda is in talks for the facilities over there (that we paid for) to be used by the US government.

Yes exactly this. If they do it it’s clear they’ve run out of options and are desperate to regain votes. It won’t work for these reasons though.

Taken on the 14th - so after the island of strangers speech and everything is almost identical to the week before.

Voting intention: 14th May 2025

Our new Voting Intention tracker shows little change from last week, with a large Reform lead over Labour

Reform on 33!! Bloody hell. It still shocks me when I see that. The tories are in serious trouble.

So the polls haven't moved for Enoch.
The question is, what will he do if they continue to lag behind? How low will he go?

Same. I do a double take when there’s so much turquoise blue on electoral projections too.

If Enoch doesn’t shift it for Starmer we’re in for a bumpy ride. Hubs / language / policies.

Reform might not need to team up with Tories after GE if they continue.

Upstartled · 15/05/2025 19:32

I'm really surprised that reform has held on to that kind of lead. It was such a leap last week that I thought that it mightn't stick and endure past the council elections.

Labour has increased by 1% and LibDems have fell 1% but the margin of error is such that those changes are entirely meaningless.

TheNuthatch · 15/05/2025 19:52

No wonder mn is currently batshit with polling like that for their beloved.
Just when you think you've seen and read it all on here, I just can't.
Bumpy ride indeed. I can't take anymore of that other thread @EasternStandard the slave labour thing tipped me over. Fwiw, I think you're right about Reform winning a landslide if they promised an Aus style system here. I just hope Starmer doesn't beat them to it.

In other news, how fucking tall is the Albanian Prime Minister! He must be about 8ft! He made Starmer look tiny. No wonder Rishi never visited Albania 😂.

It is next level crazy out there. Although it has created enough cover that we haven't had any disgruntled visitors dropping by to tells us off for having different opinions for eons.

I know. You know my thoughts on that one ;

I don’t think Starmer can. Labour are already rebelling for benefits stuff. If he morphs completely into Reform they’d rebel more and also what’s the point in keeping them if the two parties are the same.

Haha it’s great isn’t it. Labour do seem to be faltering in all that, only a few very loyal left.

Kugelblitz · 15/05/2025 20:19

Curious to know whether you lot are Tory or Reform fangirls/boys ?
Or are you hoping for a last minute coalition ?
One thing stands out is the weird hatred you have for a PM who is no worse than Johnson, Truss or Sunak. Surely if Labour are trying to solve the immigration problem, you’ll support them, really don’t get this odd and very unpatriotic footballification of politics. Like you actively want the country to fail. I guess your heads will explode if KS manages an improved deal with the EU 😂 as well as India and US agreements.
