Leave them to it Eastern. We knew who the last die hards would be. It's boring arguing with them now. I feel like a cat playing with a mouse.

True. It’s no surprise. I can’t say I’ll miss a Labour gov and all that. Fairly unbearable.

I'm convinced that some people take to politics like it's a faith based belief system were your ability to suspend your disbelief and remain loyal, even and especially set against all known evidence, is considered a test of your dedication to the cause.

Love this!
Explains it beautifully. No politician deserves that kind of loyalty.

I suspect who ever briefed it needs a distraction from over 1000 arriving in 3 days.

That’s why Reform is getting support and it’s only May. I wonder what Starmer will do to stop the polls reacting. Without something summer will be higher.

Yes definitely. It's very telling that this recording was captured 'last month' but only reported today.

I’m wondering if they’ve got anything. Some noise about a swap scheme but lots of ‘we’re in discussions’ and ‘it’s hard’.

I’m not sure agreeing to take x amount of people will help Labour divert from Reform.

Probably swapping migrants for fishing rights 🙄. Who knows what this lot would agree to.

@Upstartled but that's exactly what it is.
It's an ingrained brain washing.

Making their dc feel ashamed if they don't toe the line, feel like they have failed if they raised a tory.
It's so unhealthy and the sheer vitriol goes one way only.

TheNuthatch · 14/05/2025 19:41

The recording was "obtained' by Sky news (Sam Coates). Sky also 'obtained' the Robert Jenrick secret recording soon after the Supreme Court gender ruling.
Hmm. Both secret recording obtained by Sky, when Starmer was in a sticky spot.

It's a bit of an own goal if it is contrived to provide cover. It's not the Tories who have them on the ropes and this kind of copy only leads more people to reform, who poll the best on the topic of immigration. But who the hell knows, own goals are thick and fast right now.

This video is worth a watch for those of you who missed pmqs today. Liz Saville Roberts took Starmer to task over his constantly changing principles, and his response was vile!

Yes he really can't handle being challenged by women can he......
Reeves was a sycophantic schoolgirl as her job hangs in the balance, whilst Raynor is just sat plotting her take over
Was very interesting to watch the dynamics.

Yep. Starmer never addresses men like that. Rayner has clearly had enough of him, and Reeves looked pathetic.

It won't help Labour in the Welsh elections either. Plaid will make hay with it, rightly so.

Labour are losing in Wales. Reform will win because Labour voters see Keir as a conservative leader.

If they do it’ll be harder to dismiss than the local election results. And that was difficult already. But votes going from Labour to Reform..

Do you think Reform have a good chance of beating Plaid too? I'm really interested to see what will happen in Wales after such a long labour tenure.

PC are in the lead, not Reform. Long may it last.

Upstartled · 15/05/2025 10:53

Yes, Plaid were ahead at the beginning of May, although other polls had reform ahead in April. It's really changeable but I think the swing might land on Plaid. Although, I don't know much about the new voting system that is in play - except that it is meant to be more representative of voting spread. If that's the case then a close contest should produce similar outcome. I expect that that might be quite disastrous for Labour too.

Reform has not been in the lead in any polls for Senedd elections I have seen. Very, very close behind Labour or Plaid but not in the lead. Which polls do you mean, please?

It's so incredibly rude to speak to do these aggressive smack downs - and Starmer always seems to reserve this manner for women. This is the women problem in Labour that Rosie Duffield spoke of, isn't it? Reeves clearly approves.

Yeah, sure

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/apr/10/reform-uk-could-overtake-welsh-labour-2026-senedd-vote

The data circulated within Labour put Reform UK on 25%, with Labour and Plaid Cymru tied on 21%.

Thanks. I am praying 🙏 that PC retain the lead now.
