Daily fruit and veg thread

Does anyone remember a thread from Spring /Summer 2018 where we all counted how many types of fruit and veg we ate each day? Portion size irrelevant, we were just trying to be intentional about eating more variety. I can't find it but thought maybe some posters would like to do it again. I definitely need to eat more and it was a really encouraging and positive thread. I still make the bean and mint salad that someone kindly shared at the time.

I'll start with yesterday:
Onion
Garlic
Kale
Beetroot
Carrot
Blueberries
Sweet potatoes
Chia seeds
Flax seeds
(I think we included nuts, seeds and legumes too)

Oh I had spices too - tumeric, ground cumin and

Maybe keep some frozen berries / mango in the freezer to either add to your breakfast or to heat and have with yoghurt after sinner

No thanks on a day I am out and about and am feeling unwell! A bowl of cereal is adequate.

Yesterday, smoothie made with carrots, apple, ginger and oranges. Steamed sprouts and broccoli, pineapple chunks, almonds and unsalted peanuts, tomatoes,sultanas.

Yesterday I didn't have as much. I did go out for street food for dinner and there wasn't much there but also I didn't eat much the rest of the day anyway. So slim pickings yesterday.

Apple
Pomegranate
H/m humous - garlic, chickpeas, tahini (sesame) lemon, cumin,
Green juice
Cabbage
Parsley
coriander
cherries
Cranberry (juice)

To be honest, its always heavier on the fruit and veg the first half of the week then it dwindles as it gets closer to the shop at the weekend.

Today..
(I think oats count if its 30 plants rather than 5/10 a day)
Prunes
Flaked almonds
Veggie burger - peas, lemon, chickpeas, courgette, green lentils, cauliflower, parsley, sunflower seeds, chilli,.
Beetroot kimchi.
Onion
Pinto beans.
Tomatoes.
Paprika
Fresh coriander leaves.
Cucumber.

That might be me today as I head out to work later so always eat anl very early dinner/late lunch. I might have an apple and ginger shot before I go.

Someone asked upthread what the point is of this thread. For me personally its just a supportive thread to encourage me to get more plants in to my diet. It helps me focus on it. Its always easy to slip. I nipped in to the shops yesterday for something unrelated and grabbed a cucumber to add to my lunch today.l because of this thread. Little things like that really help me. Its not a competition or a pressure, I just know that I feel better in life with more fruit and veg and these threads help to shimmy me along the right direction and inspire me.

Today I have had: Homemade smoothie with cup of strawberries, cup of raspberries, juice of two lemons, small banana. Quorn mince bolognaise with a load of peppers and mushrooms, fresh basil. Huge bowl of lamb’s lettuce.

Breakfast: Blueberries and Strawberries
Lunch: Tomatoes, cucumber, radishes, houmous and falafel (these had butternut squash in...not sure if I should count that separately?!), grapes, kiwi
Afternoon snack: peanuts and dates
Dinner: Courgette, onion, celery, leek, garlic, capers, oregano, rosemary, thyme, olives, sultanas, butter beans, parsley, pine nuts, lemon (I'm making this Caponata Bean Bowl from Bosh!)

So that's 25 plant based things if I just count chickpeas for the houmous and falafel and include all the herbs with dinner.
