Daily fruit and veg thread

Does anyone remember a thread from Spring /Summer 2018 where we all counted how many types of fruit and veg we ate each day? Portion size irrelevant, we were just trying to be intentional about eating more variety. I can't find it but thought maybe some posters would like to do it again. I definitely need to eat more and it was a really encouraging and positive thread. I still make the bean and mint salad that someone kindly shared at the time.

I'll start with yesterday:

Kale
Beetroot
Carrot
Blueberries
Sweet potatoes
Chia seeds
Flax seeds
(I think we included nuts, seeds and legumes too)

Oh I forgot pomegranate.

Yes, I think chickpeas and then humous counts. Especially if you make your own.
Chickpeas. Sesame seeds (tahini), lemon juice, cumin seeds, garlic, paprika.

Breakfast- fig and mango, chia seeds (and and granola which is supposed to contain 15 different plant types but I only had about a tablespoon of it)
Lunch - cucumber and tomato
Snack - apple
Dinner - mixed leaves, green beans, new potatoes, more cucumber, watermelon

Not a great day for me, I'd normally have some dried fruit and nuts in there too but had biscuits for a snack instead 😋

Today was a good day. Bad days can barely scrape 5sorts/5 portions.

It's only the fake curry that has so many.

It will be curry all week!

I've decided to make an effort this week and it's been a good start...

For breakfast was the bio and me seedy granola which says it has 15 plants in, with pumpkin seeds, flaxseed, raisins and raspberries. My pumpkin seeds are also in the granola so don't count.

No snacks but I did eat some roast chicken skin and some wing that I made for everyone else.

So 25 or 26 if the potatoes count.

A few years ago I could go weeks without fruit or vegetables and I definitely didn't exercise like I do now. Can't say I feel any healthier though 🤔

breakfast overnight oats with frozen blueberries, raspberries, chia seeds and sultanas
Snack: carrot & celery
lunch: tomato & brocolli quiche, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, peppers, new potatoes, coleslaw
snack: apple
dinner: lambs lettuce, cucumber, peas, sweetcorn, garlic & ginger puree

Can’t believe today was 19! Not all in great quantities- the salad was a mixture of those leaves for example. A good way to bump up your total is to add lots of different veg to a salad then add herbs and seeds. I’ve just made a salad for lunch tomorrow:
feta and beetroot
mint leaves
rocket
watercress
spimach leaves
avocado
cherry toms - mixture of colours
red grapes
sprinkle of pumpkin and sunflower seeds.
I will eat an apple after so that will be 11 just at lunch. I don’t eat breakfast.
