he hasn’t really helped his security worries by publicising his killing of Taliban soldiers:

In his memoir, the Duke of Sussex describes killing 25 Taliban in six missions as “chess pieces taken off the board”

If that is what he had wanted he would not have relinquished his royal role.

He didn't relinquish his royal role voluntarily. He wanted to remain a working royal, but one with the ability to also earn a commercial income. The Queen said no, he couldn't have both, and he was told to take a year away.

Harry losing the case means that he will never feel safe and comfortable when it comes to travelling to the UK with his little family.

Well done Britain, you' ve managed to throw out a Prince of the Realm and his family( never seen or heard anything like this from their European counterparts).

Harry can go back to living his peaceful life in California knowing that he did all he could to be able to bring his kids safely to this country.

Now you can focus on the left behinds( including the alleged p@@@e who by the way still has security and lives in a royal residence without anyone bathing an eye)
Ole'

This is a very strong reaction. He can still visit, he just needs to give notice.

This is what I don't understand. Do they genuinely have the extent of danger he suggests eg it just wouldn't be safe for them to come to the UK without security? Because if that IS true, he's effectively been made an exile from his home country. And his only real offence causing that was to marry somebody people did not approve of. Which all seems incredibly Middle Ages.

He is entitled to security for him and his family ffs.
RAVEC will do a risk assessment when he or his family visit the UK. And based on that they will provide security free of charge . He DOES NOT have to pay at all. Not that you would know that listening to his rant yesterday. You would think he has to wander the streets totally unprotected dodging snipers bullets!
This is exactly the same as Princess Anne Edward and the Yorks get and they manage to keep them alive. Why is that not good enough for the Sussexes ?
What H wants is armed security on permanent standby in case he decides to pop by and even hints he should have his security paid for elsewhere as well.
Why can't people get their facts straight before getting involved in an argument.

flapjackfairy · 03/05/2025 12:13

@LipglossAlly
Actually Andrew gets the same level.of protection and is subject to.the same risk assessments as Harry. As are Anne , Edward and their families all of whom have never come to any harm.

My question is this...

His logic is that he deserves security because he is the child of the Monarch.

Anne, Edward and Andrew were all children of a monarch and didn't have these security functions.

It's not that long until George and CHarlotte start taking over duties (when you think H has been arguing this for five years, that time will pass quickly). In which case, Harry's relevance in the royal family becomes even lower - add in that he will go lower down the line of succession in coming years, I don't think this could ever be a win for him.

I've asked myself the question, what does Harry think people want to do him that he needs all this security.

Although the fact that he's such an attention seeking pain in the arse probably answers the question. The interview he did (on the Beeb) was excruciatingly embarrassing.

If that is what he had wanted he would not have relinquished his royal role.

Harry never thought his security would be withdrawn. He said he assured Meghan it wouldn’t happen .
He also thought his Pa would continue to send him millions of pounds and was shocked to be “ cut off”. Imagine a middle aged man complaining that Daddy wouldn’t support him financially!

HiddenInCubeOfCheese · 03/05/2025 13:10

lol, as is the entire RF isn’t founded on someone’s parent giving them their wealth

StClabberts · 03/05/2025 15:30

ToBeOrNotToBee · 03/05/2025 08:41

Because no one, and I mean no one, should be able to buy armed police protection that have access to government intelligence and information on private citizens.

Yes, if there's one thing about this that is 100% clear, it's that. We cannot have that kind of security available to anyone who cares to pay for it, and allowing it for Harry would open the floodgates.

CarpetKnees · 03/05/2025 20:22

His kids need some contact with extended family. It’s heartbreaking to grow up knowing they don’t want to see you.

Why are you making stuff up ? Confused

That really isn't the situation at all. I do feel sorry for the children, but it is H&M's actions / decisions that have led to the situation they find themselves in.

Exactly! Ot was made plain to me before I left school at 16 I would get a job or go on the dole and half of anything I got would go to my parents for my keep. I was told they would only let me go to college if I got the o level grades they stipulated and I didn't. Welcome to the real world Harry

CalicoPusscat · 05/05/2025 19:43

I grew up with cousins and aunties and uncles. I would have missed that if it hadn't happened. It gives you a wider sense of family.

Needspaceforlego · 05/05/2025 20:45

He definitely didn't think his status would change or that his security would be removed.

I think he'd asked for meetings about going part-time, was told No part-time wasn't happening but they could discuss at a meeting on x date and he kicked the toys out the pram doing a press release saying they were no longer going to be Working Royals.
I think he reacted before talking it through calmly with the family and getting proper legal advice.

Almost like he thought his Gran would bow down to him except I think by that point Charles and William were having more of a say in the running of the Monarchy.

angstridden2 · 08/05/2025 16:01

Re security I certainly wouldn’t want any private security being given access to security service intel. You would probably find it available on a watsapp group accidentally including someone’s mum and a terrorist group.

PrestonHood121 · 17/10/2025 20:49

Ah well. Time for the Sussex title to go as well.
