From the perspective of someone who doesn’t give a dry fuck about any of the royals…the sheer visceral, gleeful hatred towards this man is unnerving. From the OP and others. Why? Confused It’s not normal to hate someone you don’t know this deeply. Frankly if this is how a bunch of ordinary women who’ve never met him feel…I can see why he doesn’t want to bring his children here without armed guards. It’s bonkers, and very unpleasant.

Harry and Meghan have become hate figures for a lot of rather unbalanced, unhappy people, not to mention our deranged press. If it was about anything remotely rational the hate would be directed at Andrew, not Harry.

ArtemisiaTheArtist · 03/05/2025 07:50

@ToBeOrNotToBee South Park was incredibly accurate.

Harry needs to get over the fact he's gradually less important in the pecking order. He has the same fault as Andrew in that he thinks because he's a prince he's entitled to all the protection his older sibling has. No, mate, you don't . If you think you need enhanced security, pay for it yourself. I think he'd have a lot more respect from people if he just carried on as a private citizen. At the moment he's coming across as an entitled, spoilt brat.

CalicoPusscat · 03/05/2025 08:03

@Sprigatito a bunch of mums are not going to attack him with pitchforks.

pestowithwalnuts · 03/05/2025 08:07

He can still have the security he wants...but just fund it for himself.
Why should Taxpayers cough up for this ginger arsehole

bellinisurge · 03/05/2025 08:18

As the child of parents alienated from their family for religious bigotry reasons (mixed marriages both families hated) , I have sympathy for his kids. And leaving aside he’s a Prince (I’m anti-monarchy) and it’s about expensive security, I have sympathy for him too.
His kids need some contact with extended family. It’s heartbreaking to grow up knowing they don’t want to see you.
I have a good relationship with many of my cousins now (I’m nearly 60). But I’m sad at what I missed out on.
They should sort out whatever the stupid shit is all about for the sake of the kids.

The dangers that he and his family face security wise are not of his making. They are the result of his being born into a family whom we choose to have as heads of state - it is therefore down to us to step and up protect them. Unpalatable to many I know, but if we did not put the family in this position they would not be in need of security.

His decision to step down from royal duties does not reduce his danger - he was born into it.

This is what I don't understand. Do they genuinely have the extent of danger he suggests eg it just wouldn't be safe for them to come to the UK without security? Because if that IS true, he's effectively been made an exile from his home country. And his only real offence causing that was to marry somebody people did not approve of. Which all seems incredibly Middle Ages.

Ok yes - why couldn't he just do that?

Pedallleur · 03/05/2025 08:29

There is a special committee that decides all this. Who knew? How is all this news? Rich man doesn't get what he wants from his rich family who have Govt influence at the highest level (of course the RF are above all that)

Because no one, and I mean no one, should be able to buy armed police protection that have access to government intelligence and information on private citizens.

That's not true. Everyone approved of MM when they married. We lined the streets. We watched them marry. The King gave her away when her own father was not present. We were delighted when she was pregnant. We were thrilled when Archie was born, though it was the first time things seemed a little off in that they seemed to want secrecy and not to allow the public to celebrate the birth, not announcing until they were already back home etc.

He was, because of his childhood trauma, incredibly sensitive to any perceived criticism of his wife who he couldn't have "hounded to death". He was and is terrified of that outcome. It leads him to over respond to any perceived unhappiness from her, or any perceived slight.
Unfortunately MM appears well aware of this and also takes on a role as victim who needs protection in the relationship (whilst actually being far more competent and cool headed).

Most of us only began to disapprove of H and M after they repeatedly accused the British public and their own family (not the press) of being racist, and lied about how badly treated they and their child were. Adding in all the humiliation of H's closest family in "Spare" and their netflix shows and we do have good reason to think them disloyal, paranoid, and accusatory.

No he doesn't.
He is entitled to protection based on threat. He has come back and forth to the country without incident. He is no exile.
He has visited war zones and countries where drug gangs rule without incident.
What Harry wanted was his UK government protection, with access to briefings from CT, MI5, and worldwide security agencies available 24/7 at his beck and call around the world wherever he is.
This is bloody expensive (which is why he offered to pay it, but only after launching his court case) and highly intrusive. It is only available for senior working royals and those deemed of significant threat based on intelligence.

Melywatchthestars · 03/05/2025 08:49

He's very rich. Why can't he just pay for his own private security? He can't step away from royal duties and still expect royal perks.

Sandylittleknees · 03/05/2025 08:51

The single best thing he could do to improve his security is to stop all media appearances and go and live quietly as a private citizen, enjoying his wealth and privilege.

Mylovelygreendress · 03/05/2025 08:58

I keep saying this but he wants what William has . The same security , the same perks etc . He and M beside ( or even better , in front of ) W and C . Equal status.
This is about jealousy of William. Egged on by Meghan who seems to have a strong dislike of Catherine.

Exactly. Some people love a bit of hyperbole. Poor Harry all these nasty women and their hurty words.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head here.

the80sweregreat · 03/05/2025 09:11

The first headline news on the radio yesterday evening was pretty much ‘ The King hasn’t long left’ ( not phrased that way but might as well as been) all because of what he told the bbc ( because Oprah was busy elsewhere I suppose)
I bet Harry’s family are just banging their heads on the table in frustration at how thick he really is and a bit of a thorn in their side tbh.

And Harry was not wise to stir up.potential enemies by talking about his kill tally in his own book. V foolish move.

Yes, this with knobs on. And one knob does rather stick out.

A gross invasion of his father’s privacy to talk about his illness and suggest he may not have long to live. He really needs to keep his mouth shut, have some dignity and carry on living his ‘best life’ quietly and meaningfully.

If that is what he had wanted he would not have relinquished his royal role.

Harry losing the case means that he will never feel safe and comfortable when it comes to travelling to the UK with his little family.

Well done Britain, you' ve managed to throw out a Prince of the Realm and his family( never seen or heard anything like this from their European counterparts).

Harry can go back to living his peaceful life in California knowing that he did all he could to be able to bring his kids safely to this country.

Now you can focus on the left behinds( including the alleged p@@@e who by the way still has security and lives in a royal residence without anyone bathing an eye)
Ole'

He can feel perfectly safe and comfortable because he will get security if he gives notice of the fact he is coming.

No-one threw him out, he left of his own volition. He is equally free to come back any time he chooses.

This. If he gives notice to visit uk, security will be arranged for him. Was ever thus. But he wants on tap security same as the King and his brother. So that he can have IPP status and any country will have to stump up security for his quasi royal jollies abroad. Now he’ll have to pay for it himself if he wants to do his pretendy state visits.

Harry’s scapegoat persona....

When was Harry a scapegoat? If anything he was over-indulged.

Absolutely!! And now he's expecting the world to keep over indulging him in what he chooses ... now grow up Hazza and get a real job and be a role model for your children - currently you made younger then them
