Ah well never mind. What to moan about next I wonder…

The right decision.

He has the money to pay down his own security.

Horrible little twerp.

I expect he was manipulated by she who must be obeyed to set him up as looking bad so that when she divorces him it's just another nail in his coffin of the public disliking him.

Likewise, the RF have their own money to pay for coronations, funerals, weddings and associated security, but they aren’t financially independent.

Either scrap it for all of them or have it for all of them. Preferably the former.

Of course the current system is reasonable but Harry wants what William has .

"As ever"

The dangers that he and his family face security wise are not of his making. They are the result of his being born into a family whom we choose to have as heads of state - it is therefore down to us to step and up protect them. Unpalatable to many I know, but if we did not put the family in this position they would not be in need of security.

His decision to step down from royal duties does not reduce his danger - he was born into it.

But he still gets UK security - just with an expectation that he tells the security services when he's arriving rather than what he may have preferred is security on tap at all times

Theunamedcat · 02/05/2025 14:55

So....he has to pay the costs now?

Of security? No. He has always had security on a case by case basis as decided by (I assume) the police. It just wasn’t exactly what he wanted. That will still be provided and paid for for him.

He already gets excellent security - he just wants more! A lot more, he's an entitled oik

mateysmum · 02/05/2025 15:12

The judge summed it up perfectly.

Sir Geoffrey told the court that the Duke had put forward “powerful and moving arguments” and that it was plain he “felt badly treated by the system”.

I concluded, having studied the detail of the extensive documentation, I could not say that the Duke’s sense of grievance translated into a legal argument for the challenge to Ravec’s decision"

In other words Harry made himself out to be a victim and emoted an awful lot but that carries no legal weight.

Word of advice Harry - in the words of that annoying song 'Let it go'. This road will just lead to more bitterness and estrangement. Work with the system and not against it and you might just get somewhere.

I find it so weird that there's more posts on here complaining about Harry and/or Meghan than Andrew. People are free to like or dislike who they choose but its literally every week! people say he's spoilt, entitled, attention seeking but you're giving him the attention.
there's important issues going on that don't get coverage because Harry's on the front page for some nonsense.

I'm not sure what people would do at this point if they couldn't project all their unhappiness onto Harry and Meghan...

Andrew’s a pig and worse, zero doubt.

H&M however, are out there punting themselves and their children for public consumption and cash in a way that Andrew, thankfully (thanks to the late queen, not him) is not.

so, the constant feeding of the press by the Sussex PR machine (crap as it is, doesn’t do them any favours) is generating the interest.

They could have had a monied, private existence beyond most peoples comprehension. They are choosing not to.

He will still have security in the UK. He just has to tell them when he is coming. A bit like making a booking to come back home.
Yes, he was born into the royal family.
However, he does have a choice to not expect to be treated like a royal. He chooses not to.
He could choose to give up his titles and even his place in the line of succession. He chooses not to.
He could choose to be Harry Windsor and get on with his life without demands. He chooses not to.
He could choose to become a citizen of his new country.

CatsWhiskerz · 02/05/2025 14:22

lol - good! He's a spoilt entitled toddler, he gets amazing police support in the UK but he wants what he wants, but at last somebody said 'no'
I feel sad for the king through as MM will likely not let the children over to the UK, if Harry supports this, or agrees then that's plain nasty .... albeit we don't want MM on British soil, KC should be able to see his grandchildren

Planes go both ways.
And Harry could cough up for his own security.

It's not like he's short of a bob or two.

HonoriaBulstrode · 02/05/2025 16:06

And Harry could cough up for his own security.

He can't buy armed security in the UK, or bring it with him from the US. Only the police and the armed forces are allowed to carry guns here, and they're not for hire.

He can pay for his own unarmed security in the UK, but they won't have access to the intelligence that the official UK security services have.

rubicustellitall · 02/05/2025 16:51

Made me giggle when he said his wife and kids could not step foot back here. Didn;t the wife express no desire whatsoever to return?!! He has stamped his feet and got nowhere again. Did we stump up our tax bills for this saga?

AcquadiP · 02/05/2025 16:55

Good.

flapjackfairy · 02/05/2025 16:57

And Harry was not wise to stir up.potential enemies by talking about his kill tally in his own book. V foolish move.

He offered to pay for better security but wasn’t allowed to

AndAllOurYesterdays · 02/05/2025 17:14

I just find the airing of the dirty linen so distasteful: "My father isn't speaking to me and I've no idea how long he has left". So manipulative.

BreadInCaptivity · 02/05/2025 17:20

Allseeingallknowing · 02/05/2025 17:07

He offered to pay for better security but wasn’t allowed to

He only offered after starting court proceedings it’s worth noting.

But as has been made plan, Met Armed security isn’t available for hire - by anyone, ever.

If you are assessed by RAVEC as needing security, you will get it. For free.

All H has to do is give 2 weeks notice.

He could also make it easier by staying in one of many royal residences where security is already in place. But he wants to stay in hotels of his choosing costing the taxpayers yet more money.

So let’s be clear he is not (and never has) been denied appropriate security in the UK.

What he wants is 24 he armed security as and when he deigns to visit with no notice.

Penko25 · 02/05/2025 17:35

He’s such a bitter, sad individual. His jealousy of William just shines through in this court case. He really needs more therapy.

DoubleShotEspresso · 02/05/2025 17:38

ToBeOrNotToBee · 02/05/2025 14:46

@Mizztikle If Andrew kept taking the govt to court, giving interviews, making statements, launching lifestyle ranges and being an all round hypocrite believe me, there would be plenty more threads about him.
But he's not. He's quietly living in exile, licking his wounds and keeping his head down.
H&M might want to take note.

Edited

Bloody hell 😂

Snorlaxo · 02/05/2025 17:39

If he’d left his role as a senior working royal and stayed in the UK then he’d be in the same situation as he is in now- he’d get security when he was assessed as needing it.

angstridden2 · 02/05/2025 17:45

H and M increasingly remind me of the rather sad song from Chicago Funny Honey…,,’he loves me so …’.Hopefully she won’t set him up to take the rap for her, but who knows?

Tbf to the guy, given the childhood and early adult years he’s had, we’d all be fucked up

MidLifeMayhem · 02/05/2025 17:47

I think you are completely missing the point. The arrangement is they assess his security needs each time he visits not that he doesn’t get any.

Yep, he's saying he wants reconciliation but also blames the establishment for the decision today.
