It's decades since I've bought ice cream, consequently I'm very out of touch. When I was a bairn in the 70s and 80s there was very little choice. Vanilla, Cornish, Raspberry Ripple and Neapolitan was about it. The take-home market was dominated by Lyons Maid and Walls, with Midland Counties bringing up the rear. Vanilla was OK but a bit dull. I quite liked RR. I only liked the strawberry part of Neapolitan. The chocolate part never tasted like chocolate and I've not liked chocolate ice cream since.

What do folk buy these days?

Farmfoods ice cream is lovely. The hazelnut and chocolate one is lush.

Bubblegum Marshmallow sounds utterly rank. Maybe this is why I don't have ice cream any more!

Decades without ice cream... That's unthinkable.

Haagen Dazs vanilla because it’s not UPF. I do
like strawberry cheesecake HD. I’ve never liked chocolate ice cream. Honeycomb is delicious.

Seymour5 · 29/04/2025 18:12

Hagen Daaz Salted Caramel is my weakness.

I live in NE Scotland near the coast where there are loads of ice cream shops. I don't usually buy ice cream tubs to have in the house, but if we do it's from them or our local dairy which makes ice cream. My favourite flavour is honeycomb.

Waitrose No.1 Santa Domingo Chocolate.

Ben and Jerry - chocolate fudge brownie or fish food

ReacherOMGyes · 29/04/2025 18:15

I only buy ice cream from our local ice cream shops and gelatory, the mass produced stuff is not great imo

Lulu1919 · 29/04/2025 18:17

Tutti frutti...not seen that for years ???

nothouseproud · 29/04/2025 18:18

I live near an organic dairy farm. I'm not an ice cream lover but will never say no to their cherry ripple with whole cherries in it.

Haveapotato · 29/04/2025 18:18

Jude's Cherries and Cream or Flat White are my current faves. I've heard the Rum and Raisin is nice too.

I need this in my life!

I remember Rakusen's once made a non-dairy ice cream alternative. I guess it was aimed at the Jewish market or generally at folk with dietary considerations.

It wasn't a take-home product, but Lyons Maid once sold a range of 'in-cone' ice cream called Napoli. I'm sure Walls did something similar. I liked the lime and orange (not together) flavours. They were quite expensive so only every now and then.

There’s an ice cream shop at the dairy down the road from me. They use the excess cream from skimmed and semi skimmed milk to make ice cream. It’s just delicious

They do seasonal flavours - rhubarb is in at the moment, elderflower late May, strawberry in late June and July, elderberry in September etc - as well as regulars like ricotta and fig or butterscotch.

It’s quite expensive but my god, it’s good!

I like Kelly's ice cream (Cornish) especially their blackcurrant and clotted cream 😋

ZiggyZowie · 29/04/2025 18:37

Mackies. Vanilla

Koolforkats · 29/04/2025 18:39

Some lovely sounding ice creams here. Does anyone remember Black Forest cornettos in the 90’s. They were lush!

JBJ · 29/04/2025 18:41

Haagen Dazs Vanilla is my very favourite. I only really like vanilla ice cream though.

ExquisiteSocialSkills · 29/04/2025 18:43

I used to love Cherry Garcia.

AdaColeman · 29/04/2025 18:43

I like Haagen Dazs, and they do a huge range of flavours, but I prefer classic coffee flavour rather than the salted caramel with double chocolate & peanut butter cookie dough type.

ladymalfoy45 · 29/04/2025 18:43

The Co-op did a chocolate one with maraschino cherries. I loved it.
I like Rum and Raisin.

EndlesslyDecluttering · 29/04/2025 18:45

Haagen Daz Pralines and Cream or Strawberry Shortcake.

3amamama · 29/04/2025 18:46

HD pralines and cream is problematically good. Generally get stuff from local independent places but that would my supermarket recommendation. I like coconut or proper honeycomb. Raspberry ripple is still fab, or cherry ripple. I recently bought a walls vienetta in a fit of nostalgia though and everyone loved it 😅

MsNevermore · 29/04/2025 18:46

Not sure what brand it is…..but the rum & raisin served at the little ice cream window next to the cafe at the sandringham royal estate is to this day the best ice cream I’ve ever had 😍
