I would love to see how Trump defends this when given actual stats about military deaths, percentage of population killed.

The USA played a massive role in both world wars - but it's going to upset a lot of people if he downgrades the contribution of Allies whilst saying "The USA were the best"

And what will his Press Secretary say?

Larry needs extra dreamies, today.

My two have had an extra couple on his behalf. 😼

Let's hope that if 🍊 gets invited to No 10, Larry can barf up a hairball on one of his shoes.😹

@AcrossthePond55 you're not responsible for the ramblings of a deranged and delusional fruitcake don't you dare apologise for him.

On top of all the disrespectful crap out of Drumpf's arsehole today there's this from the end of cbs news' report about Waltz's "move" to be the UN Ambassador candidate.... Steve Miller or Seb Gorka???
(Kill me now)

It is unlikely that U.S. envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff will be tapped for the permanent national security adviser job, two sources said. Speculation among Mr. Trump's allies on Thursday was that White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller might be considered, or possibly deputy assistant to the president and senior director for counterterrorism Seb Gorka, because they are so firmly behind Mr. Trump's mission. Ric Grenell, special presidential envoy for special missions, said publicly that he didn't want the post.

Oh! And this...
Presumably the draft dodging war expert wants the army to goose step past him.

@JoshLymanSwagger , like you, my thoughts immediately went to Vietnam, Korea and Afghanistan. Also Iran.

Trump is a swaggering idiot, without an ounce of human decency or diplomacy. I feel for Americans' embarrassment on the world stage.

JoshLymanSwagger · 02/05/2025 19:18

I thought Stephen Miller looked a little like a young Dr Evil from Austin Powers, just without a cat.
DH knows which one he is from ^ this description. Grin

Nosferatu more like.

Stephen Miller emerges as top contender for Trump's next national security adviser.

I think irony has passed the Director of ICE by, who is going to break it to him that it wasn’t a valid defence

Did anyone else notice in that one interview, Trump said that if the election hadn't been rigged he wouldn't be where he was today? An admission or him getting 2020 and today confused.

This was in 2018...

I wouldn't think he would even bother defending it, because facts make no difference in his world.

TomPinch · 03/05/2025 04:37

Total US troop casualties in WW2 were about the same as the British Empire and Commonwealth I recall. The Soviets and the Chinese (the latter are particularly forgotten) lost way more.

The US didn't even turn up on time to either war.

cakeorwine · 03/05/2025 06:56

Veteran's Day is supposed to remember ALL veterans of US conflicts - of which there are many.

By renaming it as Victory in WW1 day, he is going to upset a lot of the military.

Serpentstooth · 03/05/2025 07:43

A parade for Bigly Draft Dodger? How lovely. Wonder where he got that idea from. Vlad? Is that you?

Serpentstooth · 03/05/2025 07:45

He'll need a uniform. Maybe be will be Pope after all.

You can get a fancy dress pope costume from ebay...

There's also a giant inflatable penis costume - I wonder if there's an orange colourway?

You just can't make this up. I am speechless. just going to bleach my eyes out!

Needs a MAGA hat.

PerkingFaintly · 03/05/2025 08:47

Oh I thought he'd do that.

It's all part of Bannon's "flood the zone" to keep chucking out flashy bagatelles to amuse the enemy (that's us), while he gets on with the important shit (dismantling democracy).

Spandauer · 03/05/2025 08:50

Is he dead yet?
They could get him buried before all the cardinals go home... BOGOF

I wouldn't think he would even bother defending it, because facts make no difference in his world.

So simply put, so to the point and thus absolutely chilling, as it applies to all of our worlds now and there appears to be sod all anyone can do about it. (Though I reiterate that the Dems really need to make a concerted effort to form a credible opposition and to win any sensible Republicans there might be left, over to their side, for the common good. Though that might not be a thing nowadays.)
FML, this is all so depressing.
