He's obviously targeting us heavily after all those second places, last July because we got leaflets through from Hope not Hate, yesterday, reminding us of the voting records of the 4 Reform MPs. As a straw poll, one near neighbour has "say no to reform" posters in their window and another is actually standing as a candidate for them. We're on cordial terms but I wasn't surprised to see his name on the list.

That will be an entertaining distraction. If it comes off, purely because it will be trolled mercilessly.

I was aware of that. However for many people, April 28th has a more important thing to celebrate- it is Ed Balls Day!!

The largest education union in the country has labelled Reform UK as a “racist and far-right” political party.

Delegates at the annual conference of the National Education Union (NEU) called for the union’s political fund to be used to help campaign against Reform UK election candidates whose policies and campaigns were “racist”.

Going back a few pages, I have an Irish father so I could get an Irish passport, but family holidays wouldn’t be much fun for my other half as he would have to queue!

I have it on good authority (but not first hand unfortunately), that spouses/partners of EU citizens can go through the EU gates with them.

@dontcallmelen Irish funerals can be swift but my mum before she died insisted it would be 5 days before the funeral. Who could possibly deny a 99 years old that wish? xx

Both DH and I have uk & EU passports, though sometimes for work reasons 1 of us has to travel on the UK one. Means the other can go ahead & get luggage / car hire sorted.

though last week in Spain I got through non EU queue quicker than DH in EU due to more agents on the desks.

DS have now a choice of 3 passports , UK & 2 different EU countries.

as an aside - I was checking my tax code today on the Gov portal - did you know it gives a breakdown of how your tax paid is spent in £s

Welfare / pensions / Govt Debt by far the biggest, overseas aid a few £100 & insignificant in comparison.

Which is why the bond markets and the impact of any tax policy is so important - the money we spend servicing our debts is massive.

Surprise fall in inflation

Inflation fell more than expected in March, official figures show.

The annual rate of inflation came in at 2.6% in the month, the Office for National Statistics said.

Economists had expected a rate of 2.7%.

Knowing how dreadful Priti Patel is and has been is not news. Someone who never should have held public office, and shame on Boris Johnson for not acting when bullying was proved.

Pretty mind blowing for Sarah Vine to say it though.

I see she also supports closer ties with the EU
