@PandoraSox Don't leave us - think of Eurovision and Sam Ryder, we don't quit !
Seriously though Pan, do what is best for you , we live in a selfish world and people seem pretty oblivious to the fact that any one day can change your life for ever.
See you soon though eh?

Spandauer · 13/04/2025 18:54

💐 @dontcallmelen for your loss.

💐 @PandoraSox

BIossomtoes · 13/04/2025 18:57

We’ll miss you @PandoraSox. Come back to us soon. 🫂

PickAChew · 13/04/2025 19:49

Come back when you're ready, @PandoraSox

I've gone back to hiding those threads on sight.

itsgettingweird · 13/04/2025 20:07

We will kiss you pandora but I can understand why you need time out with some of what’s being posted. I’m choosing to stay in safe areas of MN currently for that reason.

pointythings · 13/04/2025 20:25

@PandoraSox you can always find us by searching Starmer in Advanced Search.

Claims of two-tier policing during 2024 summer riots ‘baseless’, report finds
Police response to disorder after Southport attack was ‘entirely appropriate’, says home affairs committee

(that is the cross-party and Conservative-chaired Commons home affairs committee)

Wow. Well I'm sure that will be on all the news!

itsgettingweird · 14/04/2025 09:18

I actually saw that on the TV news this morning. Alongside a debate about if we need a SM policing task force specifically employed for this reason.

pointythings · 14/04/2025 09:19

Zonder · 14/04/2025 09:15

Wow. Well I'm sure that will be on all the news!

The Reform brigade will just whinge that it's a Labour whitewash.

Notonthestairs · 14/04/2025 09:21

The Times has highlighted the report differently. They've chosen to focus on the differing CPS advice regarding releasing Rudakabana's Christian background and suggesting we need an update advice regarding contempt of court in the social media age.

Only towards the very end of the article do they mention there was no finding of a two tier system and calling the suggestion disgraceful.

I think they have the story the wrong way around but there we are.

Notonthestairs · 14/04/2025 09:23

@PandoraSox Sorry to see you go but understand your reasons. Hope you will return soon.

I am sure that on 7th June 1944 they would have been grumbling that the landing craft hadn't been painted the right shade of grey.

Notonthestairs · 14/04/2025 10:06

Certainly it's an illustration of how different media owners wish to cover the same story with their preferred angle.

DuncinToffee · 14/04/2025 10:13

GB news is reporting it with a poll

Do you think there was evidence of 'two-tier policing' during the summer riots?

(can't read the article without paying)

OP posts:
Zonder · 14/04/2025 10:18

So they are suggesting their readers know more than the committee who looked into it with all the evidence, and which was chaired by an opposition member!

DuncinToffee · 14/04/2025 10:24

The comments underneath the article are free to read, not difficult to guess which way the poll is going

Can't find any mention in the DM or Telegraph

Hello, sorry I've not been around. Just catching up.

Sorry to hear about your loss, @dontcallmelen . My condolences.
@cardibach , I hope your cut heals soon and isn't too painful.
@itsgettingweird Sorry to hear about your housing situation. How are your headaches? My husband had a short bout this year but not too bad.
Take care, @PandoraSox and hope to see you soon.

Going back a few pages, I have an Irish father so I could get an Irish passport, but family holidays wouldn’t be much fun for my other half as he would have to queue!

I agree with @Notonthestairs . BBC (news) does have a right-wing bias. I am not saying that all journalists have a bias but with people like Robbie Gibb in the board room you can see how their politics filters down to the newsroom. Journalists such as and Emily Maitlis have been very clear on this and I am sure this is one of the reasons why they left the BBC.

Finally, and most importantly. I LOVE PEAS!

Nick Robinson fact checked

https://bsky.app/profile/jessralston.bsky.social/post/3lmreo7mumk24

🚨Some major errors & misleading claims from experienced presenter Nick Robinson on BBC Radio 4 Today, when discussing British Steel with Treasury Minister James Murray

I hope these are corrected on tomorrow's programme, and Robinson sticks to the facts in future.

Here's what he got wrong... 🧵

OP posts:
itsgettingweird · 14/04/2025 13:26

What’s most scary is people often still choose the BBC because they believe it’s completely impartial and so they get the truth.

I listen to BBC R4 and Nick Robinson every morning - that for me that gives me facts to go and google and confirm or deny during my lunch break (if I get it 😂)
