Holiday sorted

We managed to sort our holiday. We are now going to Spain instead. It looks much more fun . And the times are better to. We were not overly worried about tunisa in the end. But it just felt negative with all the communication difficulties. And it really stressed me out. I won't book a holiday on my own again 😭. Anyway put it down to experience. Everyone is happy now and looking forward to our first holiday abroad.

I'm just sorting cases or bags now. We are looking at the ones that go under the seat. As we want to avoid check in. I was looking at soft ones . But now I'm wondering if hard shell would be better so it doesn't bulge?

We are away for 5 nights so I'm wondering about the 2 youngest. I'm thinking maybe 7 pairs of shorts. 7 t shirts obviously underwear/socks and a pair of summer type shoes. Wear trousers / top and zipped hoodie, for travel. They will probably want their tablets, plug and a colouring book /pens .

With that many kids going and knowing that Ryanair are awful, I would just book and pay for 1 big hold case to check in. Everyone’s stuff can go in the 1 big case. That way will probably work out cheaper and you won’t have to traipse around the airport with lots of bags or cases. Also don’t need to think about what to take or not take too much and can pack full sized sun lotion etc.

Prority boarding means one of the first not the last

My mistake - I was under the impression you had asked for special assistance boarding and not priority boarding. The two things are different.

special assistance - last on generally with Ryan air.
priority - limited to 100 pax, and you get a two bag allowance, the small under the seat one and a 10kg overhead locker one. If you’ve paid for priority for all of you then you’ll have 2 bags each. If you’ve only paid for ONE person for priority then only ONE of you will be able to board as part of the 100.

No you was right I meant the assisted boarding.

Anyway I contacted customer service on the chat. Because i was confused when you said we would be last . They did say we would likely be last on. They said sometimes first . But normally it's last

So im rethinking if it woukd actually be helpful to have assistance. I'm not so sure now

@Youagain2025 assistance you get to pass all the queues at checking in, passport control, security in both countries so definitely worth doing.

I'm still going to think about it. I'm just not sure if that means getting to the boarding gate quite fast but then hanging around fir a long time. Then after hanging around. Having to walt till last to get on the plain .

Ds may find it hard . Seeing we were among the first at the gate and then to watch others who queued after us go before us. May really confuse him. Not ruling it out though just weighing it up .

I think it really depends on the airport. I've done special assistance with my elderly parents a few times and have had to report to a special assistance waiting area and from there we've been escorted either directly to the plane or to the gate when boarding started. But you have to report to the waiting area very early, so the waits in the special assistance area were really long. Might be worth finding out how it works in the airport you are flying from.

@Youagain2025 heres the link to our local airports assisted travel, they have sunflower rooms where you can sit with your children so you not sat in the bright and noisy gate area. If your going in school holidays remember the airport will be extremely busy so having somewhere to go to get away from that might be helpful to your son. The service is free and if you decide not use it on the day you’ve not missed out.

@Youagain2025 you will have a great time whatever you decide, your kids will remember the experience for years to come and that will make all this stress worth it!

Me and adult dd was saying it's a good age to take the kids are they will remember. But then I went abroad at their age and all I remember is what the bed covers looked like in the hotel.🤷‍♀️
