We managed to sort our holiday. We are now going to Spain instead. It looks much more fun . And the times are better to. We were not overly worried about tunisa in the end. But it just felt negative with all the communication difficulties. And it really stressed me out. I won't book a holiday on my own again 😭. Anyway put it down to experience. Everyone is happy now and looking forward to our first holiday abroad.

I'm just sorting cases or bags now. We are looking at the ones that go under the seat. As we want to avoid check in. I was looking at soft ones . But now I'm wondering if hard shell would be better so it doesn't bulge?

We are away for 5 nights so I'm wondering about the 2 youngest. I'm thinking maybe 7 pairs of shorts. 7 t shirts obviously underwear/socks and a pair of summer type shoes. Wear trousers / top and zipped hoodie, for travel. They will probably want their tablets, plug and a colouring book /pens .

Make sure they still measure 20x25x40 when everything is inside. If it bulges and won’t fit in their measuring frame in the hold it goes.

Yeah I was worried about that . I have got a hard case one so hoping that will help.

Being boarded separately with special assistance with Ryan air does not always mean you will be boarded first.
I would second checking 1 bag into the hold.

Ryan Air often board Special Assistance passengers last. No way of knowing until you’re there at the gate. Don’t assume you’ll be first, especially not with Ryan Air.

Also with SA - you will get allocated seats, BUT only for person requiring SA and their carer. The others will NOT be allocated seats unless you pay for them.

You've never been abroad before. Why are you so adamant you don't want checked luggage? People get a bit competitive with how little they can pack for a holiday but there is no shame in checking a bag. And you don't have to cart all your stuff around the airport with you

We regularly do city breaks for 5 days using the easy jet sized back packs, you can fit loads in if you pack cleverly.

It isn't just fitting stuff into those underwear bags it is carrying them too when you have children.
Can your children carry something that's likely to be 5-10kg all around the airport...if not then you'll have to. OK there's wheeled bags but you'll then have an even smaller case.
Just pay for a couple of either bigger cabin bags or 1 or 2 checked hold cases between you all.
I could do clothes for a week to a granted hot country in those little bags but it's the suncream, shower gels, aftersun etc that take up space. Yes you could buy from airport but this costs a lot more and you might get things out there at a good price but I'm funny with suncream so have to take specific brands.
You say you're trying to avoid stress.....well you might have to DIY without hold luggage, using self service check ins etc. They're fine but actually going to a desk is far easier IMO!

I have said several times I will see how it gos when I get the case i have orded I will see what I can fit. If it doesn't work I will add another case.

The kids will have wheeled cases . I have already saud I will get another case if I really have to. I also have adult ds with me so I'm not completely on my own.

At first I was feeling i definitely won't take another case and I kept going on that i won't . Then I back of my idea and said OK I will see how it goes then if need be I will get cabin bag. Then once I say that people start going on about I won't get it on.

I did the Priority option when I flew to Majorca with Ryannair a few years ago. Worked well I thought. I was only away for a weekend though, from Friday to Sunday, so only a couple of days worth of clothes. I had a soft Kipling tote bag to go in the overhead locker and a small Longchamp bag to go under the seat. It was the first time I'd flown hand luggage only and I wanted to make sure I had my bag close by with passport, purse etc.

Hi OP. I know a lot of people are saying the same thing, but just to add my two pence worth - I used to always be a hand luggage/cabin bag only person. Then a couple of years ago I went on a package holiday that included a checked bag.....it was bliss! Much less stressful prior to the holiday and so much easier to stroll around the airport with just a shoulder bag. I know you are going to wait and see if things fit, but it sounds like checking a bag in would make life easier for you

Whilst the cases are good because it can't bulge in size, I actually think that a soft bag with several pockets would be easier for kids to manage on the plane and most have a water bottle pocket too. If you want anything like a tablet or book out then it's not that easy to open a case fully once you're in your seats, whereas you can grab them out of a side pocket in a backpack more easily.

I think you'll struggle to get everything everyone needs in an under-seat bag for 5 nights. You'll also need toiletries, swimwear, googles, PJs, potentially beach/pool towels, suncream, flipflops and/or sandals (don't fly in sandals, it can be freezing on the plane), sunglasses, sunhat, snacks.......

I have been looking at the ones you linked above. I might get that one its in my basket 😅. But I have orded a hardcase one already so I can see what it fits .

Regarding the items you mentioned. Toiletries/shampoo etc using the hotels. Towels using the hotels. Pj's none . Goggles none . Flip flops or simlar. Hoping they will fit . That's part of the checking to see what I can fit .

Nothing can really go wrong. As I say I will check what the underseat bag can hold . The only thing that would happen is me posting on this thread and saying guys I had to get a bigger case you were right 🤷‍♀️

have you checked if the hotel provides towels for the beach / pool? They often don't! Toiletries provided will be a basic shower gel and hand wash / soap unless you're going something very fancy.....you'll need moisturiser, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, hair brush, suncream.....

We always fly with just cabin baggage. With Ryanair I would pay for the larger sized cabin case though. I wouldnt pack 7 pairs of shorts for 5 days. I pack 4 pairs for 10 days. If they all got dirty I would just wash in the sink and hang up to dry. Beach towels take up the most room but if you are staying in a resort you might not need to bring? The kids spend most of the day in their swimmers. It's only when we go out for dinner that they actually get properly dressed.

Yes that is what I was thinking. I can be flexible on the clothing. I was just allowing for spillage really. Our food is a buffet type so nothing posh. So even then the kids are probably only going to get into t shirt and shorts.

Boys swim trunks double as shorts and you certainly don’t need more than four pairs of shorts. I’d pay for one bigger carry on. I think hard shell a mistake as you need to be able to squish it. If I recall you cannot have separate hand bag and carry on.

I don't ever carry a handbag. Don't even own one . I don't think hard one is a mistake it would stop me bulging it. And it should fit as the size should be as stated.
