We managed to sort our holiday. We are now going to Spain instead. It looks much more fun . And the times are better to. We were not overly worried about tunisa in the end. But it just felt negative with all the communication difficulties. And it really stressed me out. I won't book a holiday on my own again 😭. Anyway put it down to experience. Everyone is happy now and looking forward to our first holiday abroad.

I'm just sorting cases or bags now. We are looking at the ones that go under the seat. As we want to avoid check in. I was looking at soft ones . But now I'm wondering if hard shell would be better so it doesn't bulge?

We are away for 5 nights so I'm wondering about the 2 youngest. I'm thinking maybe 7 pairs of shorts. 7 t shirts obviously underwear/socks and a pair of summer type shoes. Wear trousers / top and zipped hoodie, for travel. They will probably want their tablets, plug and a colouring book /pens .

Wow! Everyone is making this hard work its like they are trying to put the fear of god into you. You will be fine, in all honesty checking in a bag is sooo much easier, it is hard carrying everything about. Plus toiletries are expensive abroad and you can take as much as you like checked in. But if you don't want to, then fine, not everyone does.

You've measured your bags, if you can get it to fit good for you. If you cant then you will have to pay to check one in, again not the end of the world.

If you cant use hotel towels on the beach or pool (often the case) you can buy some there.

I would advise a bag with a document pocket for passports and boarding passes

Goggles are not mandatory 😂

The problem with only under seat bags, is that they go exactly where you feet are supposed to go. Fine if you put a tiny handbag, but if you buy hard shell mini cases to go by your feet? Your feet are going to be squashed.

I often travel handluggage only, but always with priority with Ryanair so my small
cabin case is above head, and just a small
bag by feet for water and passports and iPad.

You won’t be able to get those bags open whilst sitting, so where will you put kids water, snacks, headphones, iPad etc? Your hand luggage by feet is supposed to be for essentials on flight, not all luggage.

I also would 100% not trust a small child to keep their own passport in trouser pocket! An adult keeps all together

I will take the kids bits out before I actually put it under the seat . I'm sure my/kids feet will be fine

But can’t you see that’s a pain?
When you get on plane there’s another 100 + people piling on. There is no time to get on and start opening suitcases up to get things out. Otherwise you’re blocking the aisle. It’s everyone on, luggage away, and fly. You need everything you want on plane in a separate bag easily accessible and out before your on board.
That’s why most people take either 2 cabin bags ( above head with clothes, small by feet with things for flight), or they check in a case and take small bag by feet.

Exactly i have said i will try because I really fo t want to take a check in case . I still don't fully understand what the check in case is. Is that the one that gos in the cabin Alice your head? Or the hold luggage big below. But yes regardless if i need to get a bigger case I will.

Yeah the hotel has the basic essentials shower gel . Shampoo etc and you can use their towels for a small fee.

And goggles are not coming with us 😅

We are going to be boarding as prority under assistance. I know that does not mean first but it still one of the first . So that will give us a min or 2 to get what we need.

No it’s doesn’t. Priority boarding is what 90% of people travelling Ryanair pay for and book. It’s not like 1 family, a gap, then next. Just a huge line of people who also book priority for the luggage, and then everyone else straight behind.

Check in means it goes in the hold, you literally drop if off when you first get to the airport and then pick it up again after landing, you can put toiletries etc in which are limited in hand luggage (what you carry on the plane).

It saves you carrying it round the airport for hours whilst waiting for your plane.

I would take a large bag to check in with a family. Remember, prices for this will go up the closer to the holiday you get so best book this soon if you are in two minds. Will you book into the airport club lounge beforehand ? Well worth it to relax.

There are exact size soft bags on Amazon. Specifically for Ryanair. Holds loads.

On a Ryanair flight, if everyone is taking cabin bags that go in the overhead lockers there's a very strong chance they'll put your bag in the hold on a full flight because there isn't room for everyone to have one. I pay to have a checked bag that you drop at the bag drop as the first step at the airport. For a family, you could have one with the bulk of your clothes, suncream, etc in. Under seat hand luggage is small. Marshalling kids and bags when there's only one parent is hard work. What happens if they all tire of holding their bags? It can be a long walk to the gate. I'd want to be carrying the minimum and the kids just a few bits to keep them entertained on the flight.

Yeah I have orded a case that are the above size . But I also ordered 2 smaller cases as well .

I'm not the only adult. Adult ds is coming dd is 14 she will manage its only the younger 2 they are 9 and 10 by the time we fly. They are not babies and even then their cases have wheels. Im 100% sure we will manage between us.

If you are boarding under special assistance you will almost certainly be LAST on with Ryan Air.

I almost did the hand luggage thing last year for short trip to Spain with two kids I chickened out as wanted to take some warm clothes just incase. Glad I did as weather was crap! I’d consider it with guaranteed hot weather though for 3/4 nights no longer though

@Youagain2025 totally your decision and don’t let peoples comments bully you into something you do not want to do.

My opinion for what it’s worth would be to check in one full size case with the bulk of your families items. Assisted travel means YOU DO NOT QUEUE to check the bag in and you DO NOT QUEUE to collect the other end airport staff get your bag after getting you through security. I travel regularly 5+ times a year with my family and use assisted travel and this happened every time. With assisted travel you are taken out to the plane via minibus so with lots of hand luggage to get on and off the bus it does make it a bit more tricky/time consuming. Normal passengers go in a standing type bus so can place bags by their feet. I hope that helps you decide what you think will work best for you.

Thank you. Yeah I will do what I feel works for us. If I mess it up . That's life and I will come back and say all theses people were right 😅. But hopefully all will be ok.

Yeah I have been seeing lots of that. That's why I'm being so careful with the size and I have not got soft case so they can't bulge.
