Yep, another example of governing based on rhetoric. The UK will be smaller and poorer for it.

Notonthestairs · 28/03/2025 06:57

one of the Gift of Flowers pictures I mentioned.

Thanks @Notonthestairs that's lovely too

Notonthestairs · 28/03/2025 07:19

It is, isn’t it. One of my nieces is an artist and spent a bit of time explaining the composition, choice of palette etc. And the difficulty of drawing hands.
Sadly the technical stuff has completely gone out of my head. I just like it.

Wow I just read the article and then got lost down the rabbit hole of Kirstie's work. Stunning. Thanks for this.

I was lucky that it came up to Preston Museum in Stockton, a couple of years ago. Even DS1 was taken by it and loved the collaborative nature of it.

They're gorgeous, aren't they. So much detail.

I just looked to see if it might come near me, by any chance. I may have to wait a while!

MyNameIsX · 28/03/2025 07:57

Until we are ready to return to the thread topic.

@MyNameIsX They will just ignore your posts because they don't want you on this thread and they will talk about squirrels thinking they're really funny.

It's like being back at school with a gang of bullies. I wonder how many of them were bullies when they were at school.

FWIW - and there’s a lot I disagree with in the recent newer posters’ comments - it’s not like gatecrashing a group of regulars at a pub table. At all.

This is a chat forum. It’s open to the world. It doesn’t have any hierarchy among posters and there are no conditions for admission to any thread. It’s totally different to a group gathering privately round a table, or anywhere else, in a pub.

One of the less attractive features of these otherwise interesting and engaging political threads is the sense that comes out now and again that they’re regarded as a club for like-minded members.

Spot on!!!

it’s crystal clear they don’t wand anyone not in their clique posting on here and gang up on them like a pincer movement…

I have been attacked basically…why have I come here from telly addicts is what @Piggywaspushed said about me ! Unbelievable anyone can post anywhere…it’s not a club!l it’s a public worldwide forum last time I checked.

Then several regulars mentioned about the benefits of AS and I was a tax dodger …that was @DuncinToffee ! Pathetic behaviour again as they don’t like newbies they stalk them and their posting history …weird behaviour at best/bullying at worst. @DuncinToffee I’m not a tax dodger in fact my monthly tax bill is likely to be more than your wage it’s quite eye watering…

There you have it they want an echo chamber of their own views and anyone else will be pounced upon and shredded…nasty in a word.

Am not commenting as everything is turned into an argument and combative …crazy days indeed! Some need to get a life 🙄the sense of keep out well good luck with that …maybe set up your own private whats app or Signal group …I’ve heard that’s secure or maybe not as the good old US of A had Signal group issues this week 😬

Over and out …I’ll leave you to pounce on your next victim !

Really glad it’s been called out, long overdue

Piggywaspushed · 28/03/2025 08:20

I didn't attack you brie. You didn't come here because I mentioned you first. What a peculiar take. I was genuinely curious as to what prompted you suddenly to take an interest.

Never mind. Peace and love and all that.

DuncinToffee · 28/03/2025 08:25

@ilovebrie8

The tax dodging comment is a nod to the pictures of cats, dogs and flowers posted at the start of a new thread, we call them tax

Any more questions, please ask Smile

Curious about the sudden sidestep of one poster from the stomping ground of the relative safety of Telly Addicts. Why this thread of all available political threads and why now? Most peculiar.

One thing that accelerated the Deliveroo etc phenomenon was Covid. People are used to leaving home less. It's an exploitative gig economy some of it for sure but it's being fuelled b the demands of a capitalist , immediate gratification and more socially isolated culture.

There has been a ganging up on of newbies for sure…

Llttledrummergirl · 28/03/2025 08:43

It's marvellous when an influx of new posters join a long running thread, attempt to belittle the regular contributors, derail the thread, post in a hostile manner, and then overrun the threads with comments of how horrible the regular posters are for not welcoming the hostility with open arms.

This long running thread is generally friendly, good natured even when posters don't agree and welcoming to genuine posters who want to engage in a respectful manner. Come with an agenda, and as far as I'm concerned you can fuck right off- I will not welcome someone who is trampling over my values. The hyperbole and generisation from new posters who claim people always behave a certain way is same old.

To all genuine, good faith posters and lurkers, good morning, and have a lovely day. Flowers

PickAChew · 28/03/2025 08:45

I think I shall make today more fulfilling by wandering into an Eastenders thread, announcing that it's a crock of shite and then complaining that I'm being picked on when no one agrees with me.

Or maybe not. I have plenty of more rewarding hobbies.

Edited

Yeah was thinking I might pop over to the Gardening Board and 'advise' the posters there to concrete over their garden....................

DuncinToffee · 27/03/2025 17:18

Haha Piggy, I noticed that as well

AS is illuminating

This is your post laughing at me and vindictive.

You posted this @DuncinToffee just after @Piggywaspushed commented about me moving over from the “safety” of Telly Addicts…so you were doing an AS on me …stalking on top or being rude about me…

Your words were AS is illuminating.

It’s nasty behaviour…like how dare they come on our thread …we’ll search their posts …they post too many emojis …they don’t do the “tax” thing that you’ve just alluded to …let’s ridicule them.

That’s called bullying plain and simple…

Bullying is rife on this thread.

DuncinToffee · 28/03/2025 08:55

These are long running threads with mostly like minded people who share a natter, laugh and cry. We support each other and at times disagree. We are respectful to each other.

Same as any other long running thread really

We have experienced plenty of derailments and attempt to shut these threads down, especially of late, but we are still here supporting, engaging, debating.

Morning @Llttledrummergirl. I was thinking of choosing a random weight loss thread and posting pictures of cake. I’m sure I’ll be welcomed with open arms.

DuncinToffee · 28/03/2025 08:59

@ilovebrie8

I explained the tax comment.

AS is a handy tool, especially after recent events happening on MN, feel free to do an AS search on me.

Thank you.

It’s telling that, despite the gravity of the thread, certain posters elect to revert to child-like behaviour.

Presumably, they cannot come to terms with the consequences of what is currently unfolding in the UK.

Julen7 · 28/03/2025 09:00

The depressing thing is they can’t even see it. Or maybe they can but in true bully fashion try and twist it to make them themselves appear victims.
