Is anyone else finding all this hate filled bullshit is making them just that little bit more woke? 😂 if they’re trying to convert me to their way of thinking it’s most definitely not working. Hating others as much as the orange one and his minions do must be completely exhausting!

Even if you're a naice old white lady visiting on an ESTA visa I would check any stamps you have in your passport before going to the USA. If you've got a stamp from any of those countries on their recently published "we don't like you" list then I'd be very wary.

Thank you, @Odras. To be a bit clearer, we would be travelling on European passports for a holiday in Canada and would want to visit the US for a couple of days from there, as we have easily done in the past. Most of the cases of illegally detained people I’ve read about seem to be of people on work visas rather than tourist visas, but I’d still rather not run the risk.

The more it is repeated, the more people hear it, the more likely it is to be perceived as true. Nobody wants to go against the crowd, so by bullshitting about the crowd, they aim for a self fulfilling prophecy.
