Trump, as out of control as a faulty Tesla, takes an ICE pick to the Constitution.

Thanks to @AcrossthePond55 and @Jaichangecentfoisdenom for the thread title and sub-title 😊

Ah, yes, Elon Musk, that very stable genius whose major claim to fame is that he knows about ancient Roman sign language.
Yet another WTAF.

Ah, I’ve just realised that video is by Rosie Holt, a comedian. As you were!

Oh my word, how the hell are we supposed to survive the next 4 years with our sanity intact? Republicans are trying to have TDS recognised as a psychiatric sickness. TDS being Trump Derangement Syndrome ie opposing him.

It is satire. (Anyone who has caught "The Naked Week" on R4 should recognise the name Rosie Holt - Stewart Lee's current DP).

What a world we live in where that’s not immediately obvious 😂

Please tell me this is satire..

This point, I'm genuinely struggling to tell sometimes.

They will want some sort of re-education / treatment centres for those suffering from the psychiatric illness of not supporting the mango Mussolini.

Interestingly enough, RFK Jr has already proposed 'Healing Centers' for substance abusers and those who take medications for mental disorders. Because, you know, no one needs medicines for ADD, ADHD, BiPolar, Schizoaffective disorder etc etc. All they need is to 'learn' how to do without and they'll be just fine.

Basically, he wants to pack them off to 'a farm' where they'll grow their own food and learn to 'manage' without medications.

So how long will it be before they become re-education centers for those who won't go along with Scrotus' agenda? Because according to him and the Cult, they suffer from a 'mental disorder'.

Lol. Yes. I know it's no laughing matter, but I can't stop laughing about it. Arrested on the very same day he proposed it

Checking in.
Today I’m aghast (among many things Trump related) to read about POC removal from Arlington Cemetery website…war heroes erased from history…just why? 😢
He needs to be removed NOW. Why are Americans (who didn’t vote for him) and democrats just rolling over and accepting it?
I created another thread on this subject - I won’t be setting foot in the USA until he’s gone (and JD)

Wallaw · 19/03/2025 15:43

@SerendipityJane

I love Rosie (and Stewart Lee). His previous partner, Bridget Christie, is pretty fab too.

SerendipityJane · 19/03/2025 16:02

UK readers can be warmed by the fact that Americans have no idea who is top right in what is clearly the worst every episode of "Blankety Blank".😀

Amusing to see Putin to the right of Vance ....

The problem is the only mechanism for removing him (25th amendment) puts Vance in charge and after him it’s Mike Johnson, Chuck Grassley, Lil’ Marco, etc.

Doesn’t warm you with confidence!

Place marking after a day with no internet.

A question for the hive mind ?

What makes people think Trump and Musk will obey judges ?

The FBI and Police and Federal Marshalls are arresting civil servants who try to stop illegal trespass.
THey will not act against DOGE and Trump.
So court orders are no more than hot air.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 19/03/2025 16:34

@Talkinpeace, Trump and Musk have made it exceedingly clear they won’t obey judges. So now what?

Tumbleweed

I fear the exact opposite.

Trump and Musk will keep pushing the envelope of extreme behaviour in dismantling the systems and checks and balances of government
UNTIL
the backlash by citizens starts
OR
the infrastructure starts to literally collapse.

I am glad I'm on the other side of the big beautiful ocean
but desperately sad for those who voted against this or thought they could leave the choice to others.

SerendipityJane · 19/03/2025 17:15

If the US courts are seen to not enforce the law, then why would any company risk doing business in the US.

If I were a shareholder with significant holdings in companies that are subject to US jurisdiction, I would be tabling an urgent motion to the board of directors asking what steps they intend to take to mitigate the risk of my investment disappearing up Trumps arse.

Same goes for anything to do with any US company that the UK has contracted with that relies on the law to oversee the contract. Looks at Apple, Microsoft, Amazon and Google to start with.

For a country that has acted so tough about tyranny in the fairy story of it's creation myth, the US has proved to be a bit of a wuss.

The French had the right idea.

Got to love Rosie.

I saw her comedy show last year. People do find it hard to work out it's satire as it's so close to what people actually say.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 19/03/2025 16:34

@Talkinpeace, Trump and Musk have made it exceedingly clear they won’t obey judges. So now what?

In 'normal times' Scrotus' actions would be something that would end in impeachment in the House and removal from office by the Senate. But we're certainly not in 'normal times' and Dems know they don't have the votes to do that.

SCOTUS' ruling on Presidential Immunity basically said that anything a sitting POTUS does 'in the performance of his duties' isn't illegal. Or rather, that even it if is illegal, POTUS is immune from prosecution. The shit he's doing + that ruling means that we're rapidly approaching an actual Constitutional crisis. There are cases currently winding their way to SCOTUS now that hopefully will clarify and narrow the original SCOTUS ruling. We're in uncharted territory and the answer to your question is basically "Who knows?".

As far as ending up with JD as POTUS, at least we'd be rid of Musk. I don't think JD has any real interest in keeping DOGE. And I think that with Scrotus gone from office that JD wouldn't have the cult-like loyalty of many of the MAGA faithful. This would allow some Legislators to 'drift away' from MAGA which might put the kibosh on some of the far right and P2025 agenda. But I'm just pontificating, I'm not an expert.

SerendipityJane · 19/03/2025 17:46

cakeorwine · 19/03/2025 17:34

The French would be on the streets with their tractors.

And heads on pikes.

During the French revolution, the weird paranoia that gripped Paris led to the concept that the traitors to the revolution were actually hiding under a cloak of their appearing to be ultra radical. It would be a shame if a similar situation were to arise in the US. Imagine it. Musk being called out as a traitor to the MAGA cause because he is too extreme. He must be hiding something.

The fall of Robespierre has always fascinated me.

Talkinpeace · 19/03/2025 17:50

@AcrossthePond55
At the moment the Senate and Congress are absolutely and utterly irrelevant.

If you are reading the Alt National Parks Service on Facebook,
Federal law officers are enabling criminal trespass

Court orders and injunctions are utterly meaningless
if law officers are choosing to ignore the law, the constitution, and the rights of others
