Thanks to @JoshLymanSwagger for the thread title.

Trump, Vance and Musk are building a bigly bridge across the Bering Strait...
...and creating a gaping chasm in the Atlantic.

Kind hearts are more than coronets, and simple faith than Norman blood.

Musk, like all grifters and narcissists, is a consummate actor. He will portray glee or grief according to whichever of the two emotions serves his needs.

Musk was reportedly so traumatised at getting booed on Dave Chapelles show he needed a welfare check afterwards

https://www.mercurynews.com/2023/11/08/elon-musk-almost-needed-sfpd-wellness-check-after-breakdown-getting-booed-at-dave-chappelle-show/

So who knows how he's taking Mike Myers lampooning him on Saturday night live

He also is said to have broken down in hysterical tears over Tesla stock, which prompted Trump to do that stupid ad on the WH lawn. Musk is a titty baby. He runs to daddy Trump and bawls like the spoiled toddler he is. Pathetic.
Myers was perfection. I laughed long and loud.

SCOOP --> Trump's State Department quietly terminated a contract that was in the process of transferring evidence of Russian abductions of Ukrainian kids to European law enforcement, two sources familiar with the situation tell me.

Well fuck. The Dems have well and truly rolled over haven’t they?

If the mid terms go ahead then any of those 10 Democrat senators who are up for reelection should be replaced on the ballot by someone with a backbone.

10 Dems voted with the Repugs for "cloture" which is a vote to end a filibuster and allow the debate to finish. www.npr.org/2025/03/14/nx-s1-5328229/senate-spending-bill-vote-government-shutdown

More from AOC:

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House.

We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication.

They own what happens next.

I have no words for Schumer et al. We've had shutdowns before (I'm a retired Fed, been through at least 3) and survived. They weren't afraid of shutting down the Govt back then, WFT are they so afraid of now?

On other things: Eggs from Denmark? The same Denmark he's saying he's going to 'take' Greenland from? Sure. So how's that gonna work then, Asshole?

I don't even bother to listen to his blather. Mostly 'sound and fury signifying nothing'. He just likes the sound of his own voice. Anything important (or frightening) I'll get as a 'news flash' text or an interruption of regular programming.

This. We'll probably get our posts removed for saying so but it's worth it.

I’m afraid I shocked my husband by saying more or less the same to him this morning (civil war may have been mentioned), after having shown him this video from Basel, Switzerland, (who in this case are not remaining neutral): https://www.instagram.com/reel/DHMSt6IuU3a/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
and telling him this other news which I find very interesting (I’m sorry if someone has mentioned it before, I find the new MN app is even worse for keeping up with threads than the old one):
https://www.businessinsider.com/portugal-reconsider-f35-purchase-trump-us-lockheed-martin-ukraine-russia-2025-3?op=1
But the most shocking is the lack of opposition from the lily-livered Dems. AOC should be in charge, she has the fire in her belly and the wit and intelligence to get the country out of this mess. But wait - she is a young woman, and not white. As you were.

He seriously has no comprehension of cause and effect, let alone any understanding of diplomacy on the world stage. Also, does he really believe that because he, as President of the USA, says something, the rest of the world will say, yes please we all want to be the 51st (etc) State, please, Sir, please, oh let us lose our sovereignty and kow-tow to you? I am glad that it seems Europe is turning away from him (as diplomatically as they can) and will be looking elsewhere for support.
I am so pissed off with this all.

CaveMum · 15/03/2025 08:47

Listening to yesterday’s Pod Save America, they suggested one reason why the Dems are nervous about a Shutdown this time is that they don’t trust Trump et al to actually reopen everything again.

There’s probably some truth in that, but yes it’s incredibly disheartening to see them floundering like this. Absolutely rudderless and no one wants to stick their head above the parapet.

I do wonder where the Former Presidents are in all this. We know that GWB hates Trump as much as the others, so some kind of joint statement/video from Clinton, Bush, Obama and Biden (who are about as Teflon coated as it’s possible to be) to the American people might actually carry some weight. Of course they don’t have any direct influence, but surely to goodness someone with a voice needs to stand up and say “This is wrong.”?

I suppose at least it’s the weekend so Trump will be too busy with golf to do anything else.

user9876543211 · 15/03/2025 09:13

@CaveMum

Yes, that's a possibility after a shutdown, but Republicans are basically doing that anyway, left and right, so I'm not sure about the wisdom of rolling over in an effort to forestall that.

I honestly don't think any of the former presidents, sadly, including Obama, carry any weight at this point. Things have degraded past that kind of traditional politics, which I think is the mistake the Dems are making. I don't even think the Pod guys fully get that, they're still sort of baked into the traditional ways of doing things but the playing field is too different for that to work.

user9876543211 · 15/03/2025 09:18

@Spandauer

Yes, they should all be gone. Schumer in particular.

Interestingly, Tim Miller had Fetterman on his podcast, which I haven't listened to, but I did listen to Tim talking about it afterwards and he actually sounded pretty upset. He said that he's taken some heat about not challenging Fetterman, but really felt like he couldn't because he seems cognitively impaired. He can't really have an argument or debate where he's reacting in real time, that he can sort of only stick to talking points. He said he spoke to some other people afterwards and it's a bit of an open secret.

Coffeetwosugars · 15/03/2025 09:25

Only just listened to his speech at the DoJ. Absolute waffle. A lot of alternative facts. The most believable thing he said was that he had been told that his 'press conference yesterday was longer than all of Bidens put together'. Not surprised with all the waffle, general repetition and lies.

SerendipityJane · 15/03/2025 09:27
