I saw the Hibs fans singing Sunshine on Leith after beating Celtic yesterday. I was bawling my eyes out. That song makes me cry every single time. And it's a happy song!! What song gets you every time?

Wires by Athlete, about a baby in a neo natal unit 😢

Yes, this one

and Tears in Heaven By Eric Clapton about his baby. I try to avoid it, it's devastating.

I drive into Sainsbury’s car park during the end of lockdown and heard tears in heaven - sat in the parking space with tears in my eyes

Bright Eyes.

Oh gosh, yes. That song gets me every time!

Drive by The Cars
Something inside so strong by Labi Sifre
Heal the Pain George Michael
A Different Corner George Michael.
In fact a lot of GM songs make me cry as I still feel sad that he died so young.

Me too.

A Different Corner always sets me off, as does I Can’t Make You Love Me.

Bright Eyes always gets me too as it reminds my of my biological father, who I haven’t spoken to in 17 years. And even though I’m at peace with that decision, the song reminds me of what could have been.

Days by the Kinks . My daughter chose it for my husband's funeral and it was one of his favourites - I can't listen to it now

We sing this in my choir and it makes me cry. Also sing Once upon a December which can make me cry. There are loads of songs that make me cry, mainly from the 80s, it's nostalgia. I sobbed through most of ABBA Voyage. It was something to do with how they (and me) are so much older now.

When the day is done, by Nick Drake is a fab of mine. It’s a beautiful meaningful song. I read a story recently of a lady that chose to end her life at a Swiss euthanasia clinic, when the day is done was what she wanted to have as she passed away. Obviously don’t know her but I always think of her when i listen to it.

Let it be by the Beatles

Keep Your Head Up by Ben Howard, because I played it on repeat when I had time off after two miscarriages close together.

There are actually loads of songs that make me cry if I’m in the right mood!

Weirdly enough, the National Anthem. I had a bereavement on the day the Queen died, the National Anthem was played a lot that day. Every time I hear it, it takes me straight back to the huge sadness of that day 🥺

Help me make it through the night, Elvis Presley, and Wolves by Phosphorescent.

Geraldine by Glasvegas

Makes me sob. It was written about a friend of the singer. Who was a social worker. Called Geraldine.

tinkersfig · 23/02/2025 17:38

Freya Ridings - lost without you.

It's on the pet plan advert at the moment and although it's a beautiful song, it should be banned because it's heartbreaking!
