I saw the Hibs fans singing Sunshine on Leith after beating Celtic yesterday. I was bawling my eyes out. That song makes me cry every single time. And it's a happy song!! What song gets you every time?

That collaborative song 'The Lord bless you, and keep you" that was made during lockdown and did the rounds on Facebook etc.
It makes me cry to remember the loneliness, the fear, the unknown that we were all facing back then.

"Goodnight, Travel Well" by the Killers. It's about coming to terms with the death of someone you can't bear to be parted from.

PoshHorseyBird · 23/02/2025 19:22

Supermarket Flowers by Ed Sheeran.
First heard it just after my mum died. And the line "when God took you back he said hallelujah you're home" had me in a proper full on sobbing snotty mess.
Also the song Lost Without You..is it Freya Williams? Might have the name wrong. Also reminds me of my mumma. 🥹

Yes Hallelujah gets me going too.
Both the Leonard Cohen and Alexandra Burke versions.

Lost Without You by Freya Ridings makes me absolutely bawl and I don’t even really know why. It’s beautiful.

Not a song but a classical piece

Samuel Barbers Adagio for Strings

This has been voted the saddest piece of music

Cabella · 23/02/2025 19:46

" I am a Poor Wayfaring Stranger" sung by Jos Slovik, it featured in the film 1917.

tresleches · 23/02/2025 19:50

Like others, many here, many related to friends and family who have died or my daughter growing up. Most recently, it's after the death of a close friend at the beginning of this year. We Didn't Know We Were Ready was originally sung by Eoin French/Talos who died last year and this is his friends singing it in tribute, including Dermot Kennedy who seems to have a way with soul-piercing song

Loafbeginsat60 · 23/02/2025 19:51

Iris by the goo goo dolls. I have to turn it off
